ParticipantI’ve been seeing this debate all over tumblr for the last day, so I’m glad to see it’s being discussed here too.

Emma has absolutely no grounds to take Henry from Regina.
I completely agree with this, both logically and emotionally (In the interests of full disclosure, I should probably admit here that I’m a bit of a Regina fan). While she’s done some heinous things, she hasn’t done anything to hurt Henry. She’s strict and emotionally distant, but these certainly aren’t things that merit taking a child away, and I do believe she loves him as much as she is capable (Emma’s highly unreliable lie-detecting aside).

And if we arent thinking reality, but SB reality, it will never happen because Regina owns every authority there is.
Another great point here – which judge is going to rule in Emma’s favour if Regina has them all under her power? It’d certainly be interesting to see how that played out.
While I have no direct experience with adoption, I do have a bit of a problem with the way the show is portraying things and playing into the evil stepmother/adoptive mother trope. I can’t help but feel slightly weird about Emma calling Henry “her” kid. Biologically it’s true, and he definitely seems to like her better, but it feels a little dismissive to ignore the fact that it was a closed adoption, and Regina did raise him.
I’ve seen people argue that this isn’t an issue because it’s all because Regina is evil, not because she’s his adoptive mother. Even if it’s unintentional, it’s still an unfortunate implication and I hope the show addresses this at some point.Another heavily debated point that hasn’t been raised yet is Emma’s motivations.”And now, I’m going to take away someone you love.” I’m not disputing that she cares for Henry a great deal, but it doesn’t exactly make it seem like her sudden desire for custody is coming from a good, selfless place.
Anyway those are my thoughts. I’d be interested to hear from more people who have different opinions about all of this.

ParticipantAt least one of my guy friends watches for what that’s worth (albeit on New Zealand time). I’m trying to convince my Uncle to watch, but he too said he wouldn’t tell anyone because it’s a “girly” show (this from a man who loves Revenge). I don’t think it is, but hjbau’s right. Who cares?

ParticipantI love commentaries, and basically want as many as possible. My wishlist includes:
Kitsis and Horowitz on the Pilot and/or Finale
Jane Espenson and Robert Carlyle on Skin Deep
Lana Parrilla on Stable Boy
And I definitely would not be against a Ginnifer and Josh commentary. I also love interviews with Lana and Robert, but I’m not sure if there’s an episode that would make sense for both of them (maybe The Thing You Love Most or Skin Deep.)romantic_sheep
ParticipantI had another one last night. It’s kinda blurry at this point, but I was at a wedding for David and some woman who isn’t actually a character on the show. She was really upset because he was missing, so we got into Emma’s yellow bug to go find him and discovered via an unintentional phonecall that David and Regina were having an affair (spoilered because my subconscious was clearly influenced by some of the promo photos floating around). And apparently Kathryn was there while they were discussing this, because we heard her voice too. It was pretty strange, but no OUAT dream is a bad dream in my book.

I’ve been eating a lot of apples lately, and OUAT is definitely the reason why. I’ve always liked apples, but now I find myself specifically buying the reddest ones I can find. Product placement works in strange and mysterious ways.

ParticipantSure enough, some more “finding” quotes from the pilot:
Rumpelstiltskin: “The child will find you”
Mary Margaret: “If you love them and they love you, they will always find you.”And from The Shepherd
Regina to David: “So you made your choice”
Mary Margaret to David “So you’ve made your choice”romantic_sheep
ParticipantSo I can’t claim any credit for this, it was pointed out by a friend, but Emma’s tattoo looks kinda like the flowers from the Coat of Arms of the Charming/Snow/King George Kingdom. They’re not identical (5 vs 6 petals, no sepals on the tattoo), but I thought it was worth sharing.
There’s also a pic of the tattoo from the Once Upon A Time fansite (http://ouatv1.blogspot.com)romantic_sheep
Participant@Maze, Haha, love the “price of gold” one. You sound a lot like me with the one-word triggers.
Another one for me is that I’m reading Return to Laughter at the moment, and this passage in particular got my attention:
“I felt cheated. There’s no secret about marriage. Nevertheless, I congratulated her and asked when the wedding was to be.
“That’s just it,” she said impatiently, as though I should have known. “Yabo doesn’t know about it, and I won’t tell him, for he would never consent. I am running away, tonight. No one else knows. I told you because we are friends, and a friend’s heart is angry if such secrets are not shared. Now promise me you won’t tell.””No prizes for guessing which episode this made me think of.

ParticipantThanks mia!
I was rewatching 7:15 A.M. a few nights ago, and caught one that I missed the first time around:
Snow: “No, it’s safer if we climb over the curtain wall. Trust me, hiding from royals is my life”romantic_sheep
ParticipantYup, or that don’t get full season orders (Front 13, Back 9 etc). And of course, this is only network. Cable is completely different.
Basically, as a typical and successful US network show, sometime in July would be a typical start date, we should expect to get 22 episode seasons (give or take a couple), the show will probably start airing late September/early October, and there will be multiple hiatuses each season.
