I posted this on tumblr because…well, everyone’s a bit insane on tumblr, but I thought I’d share my madness with you all. Here is what I posted: I got freaking Rumbelle feels this morning from reading the children’s picture book “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein . I’ve read it before, but it had been awhile. I was going over the book for lesson time for preschool and had tears in my eyes by the time I got to the end. The story is about a tree that loves a boy and a boy that loves a tree. It’s his playmate through childhood but as he ages he grows away from the tree and only comes back to it at certain milestones in his life with selfish wishes. But the tree supplies what the boy, who is now a man, needs throughout his life regardless of the consequences to the tree itself. It’s a story of unconditional love. (And very controversial, but that’s another post). As I was wiping away the stray tear and trying to answer questions from kids running around playing, the Rumbelle feels hit me like a brick. From what we know of Rumple’s life he probably didn’t have that source of unconditional love. He never had his own “giving tree”. Even as an adult his wife abandoned him and Cora ripped her own heart out rather than be with him. It was only when Belle came into his life and they fell in love that he finally had a source of unconditional love. Despite the terrible things he’s done, the lengths he’s gone, the selfishness and cowardice he’s succumbed to, he has someone who will love him unconditionally. Someone to provide succor and love even when he’s not at his best, when he falls back into some of his nasty habits. In return, he’s now learning to be that “giving tree” to his own son and grandson. You’re killing me lol, I love this it’s so true. Belle’s the only one who’s ever truly loved him. And he still doubts that she’ll stay with him forever 🙁 He thinks she’ll see the “monster”. It broke my heart when Neal left him in the forest (although he was protecting Henry) cause Rumple IS trying to be a better man and he asked Neal to believe in him and Neal couldn’t. Belle’s the only one who could. I hope Belle does help him repair his relationship with Henry and Neal.
I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS REUNION. TWO MORE EPISODES!!
[adrotate group="5"]Yeah it’s all just speculation right now. Even if they don’t go back to FTL, if they’re still in SB, they’ll still have to go off to Oz, and come back, then go off to somewhere else, then come back. No matter where they are, people will be having to go to some other place for adventures. At least in FTL they could branch out more within the one world. As long as they’re in our world, they’re confined to SB.
It’s not the adventures and that would bother me it’s just that the underlying cause for all of them is to get home. It just seems like endgame not something that should happen now. It would be like Emma choosing either Neal or Hook RIGHT NOW, and then yeah they’ll have their fights and cute moments and all that for us to watch but the fun/anticipation of the endgame will be gone.
And they’re not confined to SB they can still go on adventures (as we’ve seen lol).
And I’m also biased because I thought the first half of season 2 with Emma and Snow in the EF was super boring. I guess we’ll see. I’m just gonna stay off this thread so I don’t get ahead of myself haha.
The whole being transported back to the EF is just speculation right? We haven’t seen any spoilers or anything that would confirm it?
*Trying not to get depressed I feel like the show would go south if they go back this early on. As RG said, then what would they do? Be transported to Oz and then have to get back to EF again, and then be sent to another land and have to get back to EF again. It would be so redundant. And just staying put in the EF for the rest of the series would be mind-numbing lol. Hoping it plays out differently.
Not necessarily. The JR6 may not arrive in Storybrooke until the very end of 310. 311 could be them readjusting to life back in Storybrooke, it could also focus on what happens to Pan, it could be about Henry after his Neverland experience? I still think the new curse will be bringing the EF to STorybrooke rather than the other way around.
I prefer the EF coming to SB rather than everyone getting transported back. Isn’t everyone getting back to the EF endgame for the series? It’s a little too soon for them to get to go back home. I kind of pictured them all getting back there at the end of the series to rebuild/take back everything. I’m really hoping they don’t all get transported back.
And it’s true, they may just arrive back in SB at the very end of 310.
Nealfire and Daddy Reunited….and hopefully helping to mend past hurtsI *hope* that’s what they’re doing lol. I also thought that wider shot of these two looked a little confrontational, especially with Hook’s face as he watches lol. Either they’re calling a truce for now, talking about Wendy or Neal tells everyone about the prophecy (which would suck for Rumple lol).
Wonder why Rumple seems to be the only one in the cave with PP and Henry.
I really wanted a rescue mission–even if it failed, then at least they tried and narrowly escaped. But it has been moving from one plot point to the next: Tink, Bae’s cave, magical waters, Echo Caves, Dark Hollow. There needed to be at least one major rescue attempt, a spectacular failure is fine, before they actually rescue Henry. I agree with Sarah: Pan is amazing and each episode has him getting creeper. Robbie Kay is turning out to be quite excellent.
I agree. I do love NL a LOT more than I liked FTL last season, but they haven’t really done anything. Neal was the closest but then he failed (which is fine, Henry obviously wasn’t getting rescued that soon lol). My biggest disappointment is with Rumple actually – what was he doing for 5 days lol? He’s the DARK ONE, and any time we’ve seen him (aside from when he was with Neal or Regina) he’s just been standing around and talking to fake Belle. I was hoping he’d have more to do in NL but he really hasn’t, at least not yet.
I feel like the point they might be trying to make is that when the group is split up they’re going to fail/not be able to save Henry. It’s only when the whole group comes together that they can take down Pan (which we’ll hopefully see the start of this Sunday).
Belle never fell in love with someone called Beast. He was always her Rumple. So it makes sense that they’re using the long-kept-secret first name of Mr. Gold (if they’re still going that route) for his father’s name and giving us his backstory. It doesn’t MATTER what the Storybrooke cursed name is at this point because while they are both, they are still mostly the FTL part of their character deep down
I agree that it really doesn’t matter what his SB first name is, it’s not like Belle’s going to start calling him Malcolm lol, or any of the others for that matter. He’ll still be Mr. Gold. I can’t see David bursting into Gold’s shop and yelling “Malcolm!” haha. We’ll just have the knowledge of his fake first name but he’ll still be Rumple/Gold to everyone.
I wonder how the flashback will relate to the present. I can see how young Rumple wanting his father to be a better person/father parallels with Bae wanting the same from Rumple, but the focus in NL in this episode seems to be Henry and Wendy, so I wonder how the two stories will come together.
If it IS Neal, Emma, Regina and Rumple who go after Henry, how come Regina says she needs help with magic and Emma has to step in? Where’s Rumple? Unless by that time Rumple and Neal are off doing something else. Or maybe Neal and Rumple are trying to find Wendy when that happens (Neal for obvious reasons and Rumple cause he told Belle he would).
Didn’t see Malcolm coming lol, idk if that’ll be Gold’s first name but if it is it’s definitely different lol.
So the whole group is reunited huh? I wonder if Neal will tell the others about the prophecy once they’re all together. And why does Rumple need a sword instead of magic? Ahhhh, can’t wait to see Hook/Neal/Rumple interacting.
It looks like they meet up with Wendy 🙂
