I agree with obisgirl. I thought Graham’s wolf was really just his wolf (and that it was immune from the curse) and that because Graham had figured out that he wasn’t really feeling anything, the wolf was guiding him toward the truth. The closeness he had with his wolf in FTL had been reawakened in Storybrooke. So in a way Graham was very close to figuring out the truth on his own – probably because he was starting to fall for Emma and was just starting to fall for him. I think that is part of Emma’s ability to break the curse. Not necessarily the kissing part, but that she let down her guard and allowed herself to care for someone. I don’t really think it was the kiss that made Graham remember. He had flashes of memory the first time he kissed her – when she was obviously interested in him because she was jealous of Regina. Then the wolf played a bigger role and showed him what he needed to see to figure out more of his real story. But when Emma realized that Graham didn’t really want Regina and that he was going to choose her, and she allowed herself to realize that she did really care about him, THEN when they kissed in the Sheriff’s office THAT was when he remembered EVERYTHING. Aside from Graham she hasn’t allowed herself to let her guard down with anyone else – not even Henry yet really. So the whole “True love’s kiss can break any curse” might be referring to Emma. But it might be that she needs to totally let her guard down in general and be willing to believe and trust people like Henry and Mary Margaret and maybe August. Maybe get over her insecurity of being adopted and unwanted. Once she had reached that point and THEN kisses someone she truely loves – then maybe the curse will be broken.

Skin Deep is soooo my favorite episode so far and as a major Rumbelle shipper I think I was just so excited to have Belle in another episode that maybe I was just let down that it wasn’t a major Rumbelle moment. Because like I said before, I did like the way she acknowledged that she and Rumple needed to be together when she told Dreamy to go to Nova because he needed to be with his love.
I do really like Emile de Raven and I think she was the perfect choice as Belle. I think the problem with anything feeling rushed in Skin Deep was the fact that they only had one episode to fit the Beauty and the Beast story into. I’m guessing they were counting on the fact that most people already knew the story. With that said – it was hard for me to really tell if I felt if anything was rushed since I felt like I knew what was supposed to have happened that we didn’t get to see on screen. I read somewhere today that the director’s cut is 60 minutes long so they obviously had a lot they had to cut out (that will hopefully make it’s way to the DVD).
rumplegoldfankristiParticipantobisgirl – you read the same thing I did. So far that’s the theory I like the most. And if you read the same theory I did it also explains why Gold doesn’t like Nuns. The theory I read said that they thought Bae made a wish to not be around his dad as the Dark One anymore – the Blue Fairy heard his wish and put him in the care of Tinkerbelle (another fairy) who took him to Neverland where he became a Lost Boy and never grew up. Rumple found out that the Blue Fairy took Bae and that Tinkerbelle was keeping him safe but they wouldn’t tell him where. This also explains Rumple saying only that he “lost his son, there’s nothing else to tell, really.”
rumplegoldfankristiParticipantLeodious, I have been thinking the same thing. I would have to go back and watch the two episodes but didn’t Red say something different in the second episode than she did in the first? I remember thinking exactly the same thing you did – that after seeing August sewing the book we were supposed to think that he had either added more information or changed something around because the two scenes were either different or had additional detail.
But then I watched all the episodes again with my son to get him caught up and I couldn’t tell if the additional information was actually just more at the end of the scene that we just didn’t see the first time around. Great, now I’ll have to go back and watch them again because this will drive me crazy. But even if it isn’t new or different information, I completely agree that it sure made it seem like it was since August had just been messing around with the book.
rumplegoldfankristiParticipantAnd the OUaT Gods WERE smiling on me tonight!! I got a response from “Bobby.” I asked about the flask – specifically what he was drinking and if there was a reason for his drinking from the flask in those couple of scenes. Once I stopped screaming and jumping up and down like a 12 year girl, I quickly reminding myself how to breath again and read his response. Appearantly the flask is just a prop for Rumple to make a flourish with. Just thought I would share his take on the flask issue.
Oh, and it was oh so very cool to later check my email and see one that said “Robert Carlyle replied to one of your Tweets!”
On a side note – with the discussion about whether Rumple’s imprisonment in the mines had anything to do with him being protected from the curse by the fairy dust, I had to laugh at a Tweet that someone sent that said they were Tweeting from inside a prison but they weren’t an inmate but they just wanted to say they love the show. RC Tweeted back “They should let you out then?” Found it funny given the amount of time the guy spend behind bars on the show.
rumplegoldfankristiParticipantNo, I have no patience at all. I’m the person who gets a new book and reads the last page before I start to read the book. I get addicted to searching for the spoilers. For me it’s kind of like going somewhere on a road trip – getting there is half the fun! And I love trying to theorize what is going to happen and you need spoilers and teasers for that. I will say that I don’t always watch the clips though. I think I get what I need from reading about what is going to happen in the written spoilers. Maybe you should stick with only the written spoilers. That way you won’t feel like you have already watched part of the show but you will still have the fun of knowing what is going to happen.
rumplegoldfankristiParticipantThey must all be on the Family Plan 😆
rumplegoldfankristiParticipantHmm . . . I never really paid attention to that. Is Emma the only person in Storybrooke with a cell phone? Man, if that’s the case and I was Emma, I would ALREADY be thinking something was wrong with that town.
rumplegoldfankristiParticipantI was JUST thinking about Rumple’s agenda with the Dark Curse and the history of how it changed hands to try to understand it. So Rumple created it and and we don’t know when or why. Part of the curse requires the conjuror to contribute the heart of the thing he or she loves most – this leads me to believe that Rumple never intended to use it himself because he had already lost his wife and his son (don’t know if he had also lost Belle at this point). I can’t imagine him conjuring a curse that would require him to kill the person he loved the most since he was already in so much pain from losing people he loved.
So Rumple created the curse and at some point either gave it to the EQ or she took it from Rumple but she didn’t use it then for some reason. Why? For some reason she felt the need to either take it or ask for it but then decided not to use it. Instead she traded it with Maleficent for the Sleeping Curse. So did things get better for some reason so that she felt like she only needed the Sleeping Curse? Maleficent obviously thought the Dark Curse was dangerous and should never be used. EQ said that Maleficent was her only friend. So did Maleficent talk EQ into a trade to try to protect the Dark Curse from ever being used? And speaking of Maleficent, where is she in Storybrooke?
Then EQ decides that life has gone to pot again I guess and gets the Dark Curse back again. Now that I write it out this way it makes more sense when Rumple told EQ in his jail cell to hurry up and use the curse already. So I guess he could have been preparing for years for EQ to use the curse. He might not have even known that she traded it to Maleficent.
I still think there are too many holes in the backstories of EQ, Snow, and Rumple to be able to even come up with plausible theories on agendas. From Paley Fest it does sound like we are going to have enough of everything by the end of the season to at least understand what everyone’s motives could be.
rumplegoldfankristiParticipantIt was very bizarre. Emma was like – yeah, the gym teacher called it in – the car was found in the side of the road, still running but with no one in it. Okay but didn’t Frederick find the car at night?? And wasn’t Emma looking at the car with Sidney during daylight? Because while she was talking to Sydney she pulled the keys out of the ignition and it appeared that she was just looking over the car for the first time. So either Frederick waited to call it in until morning or Emma didn’t do anything about it, including pulling the keys out of the ignition until the next day after she had breakfast at Granny’s and strolled through town with MM?? 😯
