KeymasterPenguin & Riddler are the best thing about this show for me! I love them, apart and together, and I wouldn’t necessarily mind if next season focused primarily on them trying to kill each other because they’re so entertaining!!!
yes yes yes yes yes. (I’d watch a whole show of these two trying to kill each other and also have romantic angst) (yes, this is my guilty pleasure dark ship.)
Holy moly I love these two. When Ed hit Oswald on the head to see if he was real, I almost fell outta my chair laughing so hard. “More…cockroach than Penguin.”
“Actually I have an army of Hugo Strange’s monsters at my command.” Ed’s face was priceless.
“Well if Lucious says we should check out the basement then I guess we should check out the basement.” “What is your problem with him?” “He’s smarter than me…” Harvey <3
Everything about Barnes and Lee exhausts me. Absolutely exhausts me. Their story isn’t even really worth commenting on.
Every episode needs a nice hefty does of Jervis Tetch. (fantastic hat)
At this point, The Zen Master almost has to be Ra’s and has some sort of magical face changing potion/plant/plot device. And yeah, I agree with everyone thinking the CoO is actually League of Assassins.

KeymasterBut count me in on the side where I believe what JMo is saying and not assuming she is lying.
I think lying is the wrong word. It’s PR. It’s not necessarily a lie, just a heightened narrative to sell what she is being told to sell, either literally told or subconsciously told. JMo’s not blind or dumb so she knows the show and writers are going full CS in the text and she knows ABC enjoys promoting Hook and CS. Ergo, she knows that to toe the line she needs to make sure she stays in that line. It could be that she doesn’t mind CS as such, but found SF a more powerful story but because of BTS politics/change in direction she just has to make sure she sells what she’s being told to sell and keep her own tastes in check, except for smaller moments.
And I don’t blame her. Anytime JMo has said anything positive about SF or even SQ, good lord the fandom explodes. You guys remember SDCC in between S2 and S3 when she, MRJ and Colin were interviewed together and JMo joked “all my ships are here on the couch with me!” neglecting Lana/SQ and she actually had to tweet out a pseduo-apology after the fact?
Or when JMo said that Neal was such a true love for Emma? She was blasted by the other side and it was “well, JMo is just saying that to appease SF shippers!”
There’s a through-line in the fandom that SQ shippers are delusional and SF shippers are bitter. And hey, maybe so. But surely we can say that CSers are entitled. They want just their ship, all the time, without even acknowledging anything that remotely flies in the face of CS being less than what they feel it is. Take a look at what happened post renewal and post JMo’s announcement. There were movements to get Colin his own show, focusing on Hook in NVL or FTL prior to Milah and there was a huge push to have the show cancelled or to at least fall flat on its face without CS.
Fandom dynamics are never cut and dry and actors responses to the program and to the fandom are also never cut and dry.

KeymasterIs there a possibility that the ratings are so low that they just pull the season halfway through? It would really suck if we didn’t get to see the second half of it, especially if they end up doing some of stuff we think they are going to do.
No. At least not IMO. The ratings would have to be extremely low (like .4) and even then ABC didn’t pull American Crime with it’s .3/.4 because they needed to have *something* there. And ABC has fairly loyal to OUAT. They’ll let it play out. I wouldn’t say no to them reshuffling possibly, though it’ll be HARD to find a place with A.I. going to Sundays.

KeymasterYou guys really lost respect for her? Well if that isn’t the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. What on Earth has JMo done to lose the respect of SF fans? So I do like her new look a lot! And I do feel like she needed a change of scenery. I would have gotten sick of playing Emma at this point as well. But I find it very interesting that when JMo says something nice about the show and about Emma, you assume she’s not being entirely truthful and that someone else may have even wrote her exit interviews for her……or you know maybe she actually really did like the show and really did like Emma! Just bc you guys did not like the way the show took Emma as a character, (and that’s perfectly fine as I started getting annoyed with her at times too) and you obviously don’t like CS, does not mean when actors on the show says things that you don’t agree with, that they must be lying bc how could she possibly feel that way! I don’t know guys. It just comes off as SF fans looking for some sort of justification that just isn’t there or proven, at least by JMo. Just my two cents on how it looks from an outsider’s perspective.
It’s a good point. We’re obviously doing a lot of reading based on our own perspectives and viewpoint of wanting (maybe needing) to be right that the actors (not just JMo!) have lost a lot of love for the show. But the opposite is also true, no? That when she makes it sound like CS is simply the best thing ever she’s doing her ample best to spin it because she’s an actor and that’s her job and the CSers are just not reading in between the lines because JMo’s sentiments uphold their own world view?
It’s like when the CSers point to JMo saying how much she loves CS or how great she thinks the relationship is, but point blank ignore her talking about the positives of SQ relationship or whens she said “Neal was such a true love for Emma.” But at the same time we point to those quotes about Neal and try to find subtext behind the CS stuff.
It’s a problem for both sides. I personally don’t believe JMo is as on board with CS as those shippers want to believe and that largely comes down to the way she plays Emma (including dress and makeup) in a CS scene vs in a non-CS scene. And often times the way an actor plays something will let you know how they really feel. (Bobby doing his best work all season with the actor playing his son, and sorta phoning it in elsewhere, as an example)

Keymasteri think itll be half and half. The first half will have them be in their new cursed personas with Henry trying to get them to remember who they are and break the curse, etc, and the second half will see it broken and e veryone kicking it into high gear to defeat whatever villain is around town. I think the epic quest is the present day stuff. Or else be set in the time before Lucy was born to explain how all this ended up the way it did.
With the curse being broken at Christmas–likely between Henry and Lucy.

KeymasterI didn’t find Jasper annoying through the entire run of his character, just the end arc here in S4.

KeymasterIt’s interesting that she mentions THREE years of energy being cut off. Presumably, the three years of energy before that are worth keeping!
Yeah it’s the three years part that is fairly interesting. That’d put us back at the end of S3, start of S4.

KeymasterI always wonder if it is a legal issue and Jennifer isn’t allowed to say what she thinks about the show. I don’t know enough about how that works to even speculate, but since she has agreed to come back for one episode and has a contract and could how she still talks about the show be part of that contract? What do i know.
Even if she’s legally allowed to talk about her true feelings regarding the show at this point since she’s no longer contracted with ABC/OUAT I doubt she (or any of the cast) would bite the hand that fed them. You have instances like Michael Socca and Sean Maguire who went a bit more in depth about how they felt on the show and what was done to their characters but they were also very political about it, said they’d work with A and E again (and Sean did!), ect. I suspect JMo would do the same. She’s a TV actress and if she gets a rep for disrespecting the work the show runners or network do…well, it’s a small town. That’s why her exit interview was carefully written (probably not actually by her) and her exit interviews stay very neutral in terms of any real feelings and instead hits several points over and over that sell herself as a grateful actor and praises the network/show/writers (she loved Emma, she loves the show, she’s grateful for the fans, she’s ready to move on personally and professionally…).
It’s what Screwball Ninja said in the link Slurpeez posted a page back…PR and media PR at that is Kabuki theater, highly performative
The only actor that I can see not caring about breaking ties is Bobby. If anyone has anything to say, it might be him.

KeymasterI don’t expect her to hate Colin. They all always seem to have a lot of fun together at cons.
Certainly; I think she and Colin are likely friends and have the same frustrations about their characters–they’ve been reduced down to the love story and nothing more.
But there’s being with your friends and then there’s hanging all over, draping your self on the very married friend either because your marketing team demands it or because someone somewhere is demanding it (ie: fans). Like if you go back and look at her interviews early on in the days of CSF and you look at her interviews in the years following there’s a pretty marked difference. I remember back in S3B it got to the point where a few of us wouldn’t even watch her interviews because of the over the top nature in her speaking and acting around Colin. Or do you remember this past year at SDCC when they whole “you stand next to Colin! get in your spot!” controversy happened with LeAnne A. from ET?
