KeymasterIf only they’d kept Ivy on the show, that could’ve at least been a strong bit of misdirection as to why.
Yeah, they could have made the audience start to question if Jacinda and Henry were really True Love

KeymasterHope is a fine name for any kid…but here’s my issue. The fact that the writers named the baby Hope is a bit eye-roll inducing. They don’t see that baby as a baby but as a concept. It’s one more attempt to beat us over the head with what they feel is the true message of the show. It’s like if they keep saying in every interview “this show is about hope” and naming this baby that name, maybe their show will actually start to be about that concept. Because OUAT is all about telling not showing.
For example: would you still believe that A and E believe their show is about hope if CS had named the kid literally anything else? Would you still think that the overarching theme of the series, however poorly put together, is about the concept of hope? Yes. Like, we get it. That baby isn’t a person, it’s a giant hammer to beat the audience with one final time.

KeymasterCan anyone tell me if Facilier is a good guy or a bad guy?
I have no idea. And at this point, we’re not going to get any sort of backstory on him. I guess he wants the dagger for…reasons. He helped Lucy because…reasons.
Alice really is an excellent actress and that cannot be said enough.
I am really ready for OUAT to be done but I would 100% watch a series about Alice and Margot.

KeymasterWhile the idea that our world (or realm) was once just one of many magical realms strung together somehow until our world went dark without magic and we were cut off from the rest of them …hey it’s kind of interesting. But the story really fell flat for me long before that even came up.
I would be so much better with the idea if they had been leading up to this for years not just in a one-off flashback like “surprise!”
This sort of revelation is best served up after years of hints and teases and clues.

KeymasterHere’s another question that has been bothering me: how did Gothel kill everyone in less than a night? We know she killed all the people at the ball with either tree roots or her Stank Plant and we know it happened in one night because her mud stained clothing doesn’t change from the ball to when she and Seraphina leave the grove via bean hole, but what about the lives of everyone else in the world? Unless the writers are trying to say that the only inhabitants of planet Earth thousands of years ago were these snooty ball-gown-wearing people???

KeymasterI am trying to figure out when in time that was though. Did she wipe out humanity and we came back? Was that the implication? Because it looked liked the 1700’s to me with the clothes they were wearing (Restoration to be precise).
Basically yes. Thousands of years ago, Gothel wiped out all of humanity and killed magic in this realm, making it the Land Without Magic. Humans came back but magic only trickles in a little bit.

KeymasterIs she bringing magic back to our world? Trying to resurrect her people?
My guess–and it’s really only that–is that she is bringing magic to our world but she also wants to wipe out all non-magic users because she sees them as weeds in her garden.
I really don’t understand what Facilier’s place is in all this. It would be one thing if he somehow represented the human side of this story and maybe they’re trying to make him Gothel’s cosmic equal but where she represents Nature he represents Humanity because of his connection to Death and the “other side.” But all of that requires a lot of imaginative stretching. At this point, Facilier feels like so much narrative bloat. And why does he think that Gothel wants the dagger? How do these two even know about each other?
Also, Gothel literally lived in a land with magic for thousands of years (The EF 2.0) but still wants to take over this world…? Why..? Is it just because this was her original home?

KeymasterDon’t forget that moment with the fountain.
Remind me….what moment with what fountain?
is….is that what happened? I thought she just killed the people at the party…? The entire human race?!? How the heck did I miss that
Yup, apparently she cleansed the entire human race and destroyed it all (an historians and archaeologists have found no record of this?? I mean this weren’t prehistoric neolithic people; they wore ball gowns, lived in big houses and had parties! But nope not a trace or hint of them…)
