KeymasterI am not sure how i feel about this show. I guess i think it just isn’t going to end well. There is no way that any of the characters could trust one another ever. I think i also have a hard time believing that something like this would happen and they aren’t really explaining who started this yet and why someone didn’t just kill that person. I do think that the show is doing a great job explaining the harshness of the situation, but i doubt they are going to explain how such a situation could happen in a way that i would find in any way realistic.
Have you ever read the book? Even if not, it doesn’t need to end well, I think. I think story is perfectly set up to show that things don’t well a lot of the times.
(book spoiler in black below!)
I’m actually really curious how this season or next season ends. Will they take Atwood’s approach of throwing us several hundred years into the future and having a conference on Gilead trying to figure out who Ofred was
Second, as far as not explaining how it happened, Ofred does give some insight around episode two. She talks about how it began by blaming events on terrorists which led to a suspension of the Constitution and freedoms under the guise of “protection” and how Congress was eventually slaughtered. And then finally Gilead (Ofred’s current home which is the former East Coast of America) was born out of these events, a theocratic military dictatorship.
Third, as far as realism…I’m not trying to open this to a political debate but given the current American situation, American President, and certain executive orders, ideologies…well. I can easily see the threads of a Handmaid’s Tale scenario coming about *now* more than any time in the past.

KeymasterThat was great. Love how Regina’s mirrors show various people singing.

Keymaster“What I would say for fans is it will be complete, so they will not have any dangling threads that they’re like, ‘I can’t believe [it]!’ We’re not going for a crazy ending that everyone goes, ‘Well, what did that mean? I feel unsatisfie
The problem is that if (very slight chance) OUAT is cancelled at 6 then what was the point of the two new characters? Are they so unimportant that not seeing them next year (in case of cancellation) wouldn’t bother us?

KeymasterWhat’s the purpose of a memory wipe though? The spell just made everyone sing so I don’t understand why someone needed to wipe everyone’s memory of it. I suspect Rump did it for some reason. Probably to help things go the way he foretold or some other nonsense.
The memory wipe is in the past; so that they stick with the canon and Snow didn’t recognize Hook when she and Emma found in the EF in S2.

KeymasterUnrelated but does anyone remember the name of that website that would do the recaps of OUAT but with Disney characters? Like inrmemeber that Henry was Olaf and the fury was Pain/Panic from Hercules and Violet was a female Olaf?? i can’t recall the site and I need a laugh. Although I think they stopped doing them <p style=”text-align: right;”></p>

KeymasterChecking in with other ABC shows:
American Crime got a .4/2 million in their latest episode.
Quantico got a .6/2.56 million in their latest episode. They’ve been maintaining that for awhile, so that’s probably their floor.
AoS ratings should be out later today, another show ABC has to think long and hard about.
ETA: AoS got a .7/2.15 million

KeymasterOf course it’s a memory wipe. *sigh*
I’m glad Bex sounds good. I thought she was rather rough in the BTS featurette.
Glad it’s more Emma centric.
I’m sorta…peeved that Emma is just now getting that she’s never been alone. She knows this. She’s known this for awhile. Her wedding should not serve as some sort of culmination of her actualization of self. It’s…well, it’s squicky.
We all predicted the Black Fairy would interrupt the ceremony/reception somehow.

Keymaster*cringe*
I really hope the songs are more like Hook’s and not Snowing’s.

KeymasterI don’t think I’m digging Snow’s mother of the bride outfit….
I’m not at all.

KeymasterMaybe it’s just residual disappointment that she’s not from the ’80s. Ha.
I sooooooo wanted her to be from the 80s!
