I’ve always been on board the “they do nothing intentionally” train but…this wedding dress coupled with the way they’ve been dressing Emma this season both with Hook (dark, buttoned up, ugly clothing, minimal make up, long sleeves) and without Hook (red Savior coats) makes me wonder if someone somewhere isn’t doing something intentionally.

She didn’t have to be “The Savior” or “Princess Emma.” No, she was simply Emma, a lost girl, who grew up alone in the real world but who found a home in the back seat of a stolen car with a lost boy who also grew up alone in the real world.
And he didn’t have to be Baelfire–the lost boy who’s own father chose dark magic over him. He could be Neal.
“He was always Neal to me” coupled with Neal telling Rumple “It’s Neal!” always stood out as a way to telegraph to the audience that these two got each other, when no one else did.
I think Emma’s story was about, first of all, healing the rifts of the big kinship tree at the center of OUAT. She was the girl that her parents were forced to abandon, and who herself was forced to abandon her child. Neal was the kid whom his father did not choose, and who was himself unable to choose his son (for different reasons). By healing these generational rifts, this central pivot of the 3 generation structure (Neal/Emma) also would have healed the other generational abandonment traumas — mainly, Regina’s and Rumple’s, the causes behind the Dark Curse that effected the separation in the first place. That was the structure of this story, I think.
That’s exactly the structure of the story. Emma heals the rift between Snow/Regina while healing her abandonment issues with Snowing. Neal heals the rift between Rumple/Hook/the world while healing his abandonment issues with Rumple. And Henry serves to help rebond Emma and Neal after what happened between the two of them. Together, SwanFire family breaks the cycle.

This is a gentle reminder that this is the CS safe haven, the same as the SF thread is for SFers. There was a desire for balance hence this thread being brought back up but we’re going to play by the same rules as we do in other shipping threads, please, because things are clearly only gong to become more and more hostile.
I don’t want CSers–either current posters or lurkers who are hesitant to post because of negativity and combative posts–to feel uncomfortable.
People have asked for boundaries so we’re doing this S3 style, I suppose, until a balance or equilibrium sorts itself out. You are free to read any thread you wish. You are free to have conversations, in fact we encourage that. But shipper threads have a different set of guidelines in order to avoid this sort of bickering and hostility. Please make sure to follow all forum rules, however. I had to fix one or two language things and no foul language is a BIG rule here.

No way. Next season would be the last. I don’t see Colin, JMO, or Lana staying for more then one more season. Plus ending the show at 150 + episodes is a really good thing IMO.
I don’t see those three returning either but ABC could try to make a go of it, the writers can just keep saying “it’s a new story!” Not saying it’s a bang up wonderful idea or that it’d hold any water as a TV viewer but ABC might look at their numbers/bank account and say “yeah, one more year.”

–I deeply love Edward Nygma and the exploration of his identity. He’s trying so hard to figure out who he is, to find someone to answer his riddle (the most basic riddle there is: “who am I?”) but he can’t find his perfect match because of course it’s Oswald. Of course it’s the guy he shot and pushed into a river. It’s exactly what Oswald said, “you need me as much as I need you.”
–Can we please just take a moment and appreciate Cory Michael Smith? He was so good here.
–“You are the only person I know who frets about his hallucination making a mess.” Seriously, Ed’s bringing on hallucinations of Oswald because he misses him and needs him that much. I don’t care if he says he doesn’t love Os. He does. He does.
–LOL at the (maybe unintentional) visual of Frank telling Jim about the CoO while Jim’s holding a rifle. Like, maybe you pick a better time? Like when he’s not holding a deadly weapon?
