KeymasterI will never like Hook largely because of what I think he represents in culture but oh my God. Emma Swan what even are you nowadays? Every time she’s on screen I find myself inwardly cringing.
I can get wanting to save your boyfriend/fiancee but at least have some sort of internal conflict over sacrificing your parents and your brother’s chance to have the life you were denied in order to save said boyfriend!

KeymasterI, sort of, get Snow and Charming’s choice though i think the way they talk about it is pretty ridiculous.
Their choice totally makes sense. It’s the same one they made in the Pilot when Snow gave Emma to Charming and told him to run with her to the wardrobe. And it’s the first time in a long time that Snow felt like Snow White. The entire scenario, this giant retcon of S1, is where I have some pretty glaring issues because it’s wholly unnecessary.

KeymasterYes you had Snow putting her child first which there are problems with but i understand. What I don’t understand is why Emma went along with the idea. Snow was sleeping, Emma could have and should have used the flower on her parents and woke them up but instead she sacrifices her parents lives to go after Hook.
We really needed a scene of Emma struggling with that choice, of discussing it with Regina and the others. I get that Emma wants to save Hook, that’s perfectly natural. But this shouldn’t have been a wham-bam-thank you ma’am kind of choice. When the writers forgo these kinds of internal angst it makes their characters look callous, cold, and–to be blunt–stupid.

KeymasterI think the idea of parents putting their children first in itself is still a good message, but the execution in this scenario left mixed signals.
It is a good message but the writers keep forgetting that Snowing have another baby. So yeah, mixed signals for sure.

Keymaster–What exactly is Emma Swan wearing this time around? These schoolmarm, nun-esque clothes have got to stop.
I do not think you should pick on Emma for that top …. I have two of them like it …one in black the other in red.
It’s not the top, per se. It’s that Emma Swan would never wear those types of outfits and lately the show has been dressing her a certain way that can be read negatively. Clothing can always be read as a symbol in TV.

KeymasterThat would have to mean that Snow actually acknowledges that she has baby Neal. The show made it sound like a permanent coma like sleep so why would Emma choose Hook and not her parents?
Because, by and large, Emma is almost dangerously codependent on Hook.

KeymasterThe problem with that is this idea that The Black Fairy is the original evil or whatever they said or implied (sorry I’m a bit befuddled on the matter) then shouldn’t her darkness be older than Malcolm? The idea of BF losing her wings because she fell in love with a human and had a child makes perfect sense given what we know about Blue Fairy, but what exactly did they say about Black Fairy being the original evil or am I just confused about what they actually said about her.
Yup. You’re right. Even tonight she said that she basically invented Dark Magic. But it wouldn’t be the first time the writers forgot what they wrote a few episodes before. And it’s still unclear if she was born evil or turned evil. And if she turned evil because of Malcolm then that’s quite a bit after Merlin and the Dark One/Nimue incident, which is–lol–“dark”!

KeymasterI know this does not totally relate to this topic, but did anyone else have a problem with Emma choosing to get Hook back instead of waking her parents from their “permanent” sleep?
I am 100% bothered by the fact that a mother with a three month old thinks it’s more important for someone else to come back home and is prepared for her and her husband to fall into a forever-coma. I get that they have a blind faith that Emma will save them and I’m not even mad that it’s Hook who’s the beneficiary but so far Emma has been a bit distracted by other things and the most powerful witch in the town has been incredibly unsuccessful.

KeymasterBut let’s be honest…where were all these darkness detecting flowers when Cora & Hook came to town? Or how about Peter Pan, Zelena, Ingrid, the Queens of Darkness, Dark Swan, Evil Queen?!!
Shouldn’t the flowers have been a-blooming with, like, every villain we’ve had. Nimue and all the dark ones, or Chernabog, or the queens of darkeness, or Ingrid, Cora? The flowers just NOW decide to pop up?
So much this!

KeymasterDid he drink the potion too?
He did, yes.
