KeymasterSooooo. I agree that it would have been 100% more effective to have introduced Tiger Lily much earlier on.
As for their history, who knows. That’s the thing with OUAT; I can’t properly guess anything anymore. They were probably friends and when Black fell in love with Malcolm, Tiger lily went and told Blue and that got Black banished. Or y’know some other thing that we can’t really predict.

KeymasterRetcons. Retcons everywhere.
The writers are hoping to cash in on nostaligic feelings by setting up the same scenario as the Pilot once more, only this time ten years into the future and not in the Enchanted Forest. It’s a sort of emotional manipulation in which they hope you don’t notice that they are, at the same time, destroying the very basic DNA of the show and replacing it with a watered down, convoluted, overly complicated piece of narrative that simply doesn’t work because of how powerful the original story was. Think about this way: what’s more powerful? Snow and Charming meeting on the Storybrooke streets as Snow and Charming for the first time in twenty-eight years because their daughter shared a true love’s kiss with her child or Snow and Charming meeting in a cold and isolated hospital room, having been woke up because of a random heretofore unmentioned flower that has some vague magical properties and not because of Emma at all?

KeymasterWhy do I get the feeling that the thirty people who showed up in Regina’s office, is literally the town’s population at this point! LOL!
Because it totally is LOL

Keymasterwill also be the episode in which Emma Swan and Killian Jones get married.
I am so totally shocked. This is brand new information.

KeymasterSo the Black Fairy is going after Zelena because of Baby Pistachio? That’s keeping with her character but why does she need the wee one?

KeymasterGENERAL: Ummmmmmm. Guys? Do we think the writers have lost their DVDs of Season 1? Should we help them out and send them ours? Maybe they don’t know it’s on Netflix. I’ll let them use my account if they need. If it means they don’t retcon the central idea of the series, then I’m all for letting them spend some time on my account.
I get why the writers think this might be powerful but it is really just a giant retcon that doesn’t even make *sense* and just destroys so much of the first season.
RATING: 4/10
LIKED
–Pongo is in a bad mood because he’s off gluten. LOL
–It’s really nice seeing Granny, Archie, and Marco. It reminds me of when SB felt like a real lived-in town.
–“I practically invented dark magic.” I like that the Black Fairy really is completely evil. Even her POOF smoke is black.
–“We were destined to clash since the dawn of time.”
–Hook cutting off his shadow and sending it out is keeping with stuff we saw in S3! Yay something that is canon compliant!
–“You don’t have a child out there like us!” The parallels between Bae and Emma and their family will always be a big part of the DNA of this show. Always.
–Snow realizing that they can’t save Emma because it means dooming the rest of the townsfolk. Good for her. That’s the Snow I remember from the pilot.
–Hook’s shadow has a hook. That is hilarious.
MIXED
–I know they can’t recreate the entire NVL set from S3A but it looks like Hook is running through the EF/SB forest/Oz.
–“We never would have put you through that wardrobe if we knew it would lead to this…” Eeek. I get what Charming’s saying. I really do. But he’s basically, once again, saying the life of his child is more important than the hundreds Emma *saved* because she was put into the wardrobe.
–Aaaaaaand now Rumple remembers who he is. *bangs heads on desk* I guess GOOD that they keep it being Emma’s name but it works so much more when it’s Emma who says it!
–How does Tiger Lily know anything about the Savior or the Black Fairy or her being in the town of Stroybrooke?
–Tiger Lily used to be a fairy? And she should have stopped the Black Fairy? Someone we literally just met 3o mins ago is to blame for the Black Fairy? Really? Why? And why do I care when–again–we just met her!
–Everyone is going to share the Sleeping Curse? And it will dilute it? And Snowing wake up because of it? How does that work? Why does it work that way? I mean, yeah, it’s a sweet moment but…what?
DISLIKED
–Really?! REALLY?! Charming WOKE UP and then WOKE UP Snow?! Are you kidding! WHY?! Why must this show retcon ALL OF THE THINGS?! WHY?! STOP IT. So a random FLOWER can wake up Snow and Charming? Not Emma, their daughter, the Savior?! Not her TLK with her dying son?! COME ON! This is stupid. The whole point of Emma was that only she could break the Dark Curse because of she’s the Savior, True Love Incarnate. We saw Mary-Margaret and David Nolan kiss (and have a whole affair!) in Storybrooke and nothing happened; they never awoke. But a MacGuffin flower by the side of the road is capable of waking them up when Emma was still a child and nowhere near Stroybrooke. Get away from me, show.
–There’s a potion that can remove darkness from a heart. *rolls eyes*
–The sleeping curse is darkness inside a heart? Like an evil deed? How does that make sense?
–What exactly is Emma Swan wearing this time around? These schoolmarm, nun-esque clothes have got to stop.
–The flower has the power to reunite true love. Get away from me, show. Just stop.
–Rumple has a potion that will erase his memories until Emma is 28. *sigh* Another random object that works simply “because.” Even though SB was supposed to be really short on magic, here’s Rumple with a handy dandy potion!
–And now there’s a random door that leads into the world outside of Storybrooke???!
–Emma was always the Savior. She didn’t need to be 28; that’s just when she came to town. She was born the Savior because she was born of Snow White and Prince Charming and because of Rumple’s machinations. It was not because she was “of age.” That is nonsense.
–Hook needs to come back to Storybrooke more than Snowing need to wake up and not fall into a forever-coma? Like, seriously? Someone rationalize that for me.
–You mean to tell me that this handy dandy flower wouldn’t have sprung up when Emma and Regina were looking for Henry in S3? What…? Their true love wasn’t strong enough?
–Charming and Hook have three lines about Hook killing Charming’s father and everything is now a-okay! Swell!

KeymasterI thought the show handled Bill’s homosexuality well. It was no muss, no fuss. It didn’t turn into a Very Special Episode with Bill having to come out to the Doctor and the Doctor reassuring her or any other suck dreck. Instead, the show just makes it part of Bill along with her other traits.

KeymasterI’m just sick of contemporary companions.
I am as well. Maybe Chibnill will turn that around next year.
What do you think is behind the door
I think you’re right.
This was also my first time seeing Class
I only watched the first episode or two when it aired in the UK.

KeymasterIt is weird because i don’t remember there being any captain swan fans in Season 2.
Oh I remember it happened the second Tallahassee ended. We have some threads about it floating around before the official CS thread came up. In fact, I’d say it probably began to happen earlier when Colin was cast, was elevated to full time, and then when we learned that Hook was still alive in present day. I also remember that the split between SF and CS happened right after Tallahassee because everyone had a pretty frank opinion on if Neal did right or if he did wrong.
