I want the writers to reintegrate Regina and the EQ but given the title and the fact that this is Sean’s final appearance, I think EQ and Wish!Robin go back to the WishRealm and live HEA

He has been picked on a bullied and now here is someone else who says they are a “hero” who has killed several people and is going to blame it on his father.  I don’t think this has anything to do with leaving towns

Not sure I buy that, sorry. I get what you’re saying but in a mere few months Baelfire is going to not only push Rumple to leave town but to leave worlds. Rumple is suggesting that they leave town and start over–having resisted killing Beowulf himself having proven that he can resist dark magic–and Bae just “nopes” that idea and orders his father to kill another person. Remember his words in The Return: “you hurt people all the time now.” He was against Rumple hurting anyone–the mute maid, the snail man, anyone who so much as looked at Rumple wrong.

This also completely recasts the Rumple/Bae dynamic. Rumple could have resisted the dark magic but nooooo Bae made him kill someone! It’s feels retroactive and a way to trash a dead character.

Bae on the other hand was not making a conscious decision to be evil he was being influenced by the dagger and once that influence was taken away he was back to being the really good person that we know he is.

But the test then is: have any other pure of heart characters who have come into contact with the dagger had the same overpowering feeling to do bad? Cause I don’t think so. Cora was already corrupted and heartless (literally).

it was literally because he didn’t want to go relocate to another village

    *a few months later*

“Hey dad, let’s go to an entirely different realm so that the darkness infesting your soul doesn’t continue to corrupt you!”

    Makes total sense.

I don’t understand how a memory potion affects darkness in one’s soul. Like not remembering you’ve done something bad completely takes away the impulse to do bad things? It means your soul is turned bright white again? This seems pretty nonsensical to me. Why not just give all the villains memory potions then!

I think what they were trying to say is that Bae is not bad or a villain he was just temporarily influenced by the power of the dagger and when his father took that memory away it made Bae forget the feeling of power that the dagger had on him.

I don’t know…Rumple told Gideon that this incident (with Beowulf) had darkened Bae’s soul. And if a memory potion can really do that–make you forget the power of the dagger–then again, why hasn’t Belle drugged Rumple’s morning cup of coffee?

I am glad they had him drink the memory potion and that Rumple then took all the blame on himself to save his son from the darkness,

    General: Nope.

It was an okay episode–over hyped but mostly okay–up until they did a ridiculous character shattering thing that made no sense given past canon and only works because the show will never be done retroactively destroying their characters and themes. In what universe would Baelfire ever order Rumple to give into the darkness and kill someone! None. So instead of Baelfire being the light inside of Rumple and constantly begging his father to stop giving into the darkness, as previously established, Bae is actually the reason Rumple was unable to avoid staying clean. Nonsense. Absolute nonsense.

    Rating: 6/10

    LIKED

–The CGI on the Ogres was fairly decent.

–I’ll give Hook credit here during his conversation with Archie. He normally just chooses to not tell Emma until everything comes undone so the fact that he wants to tell her and recognizes that decision has consequences…yes, good.

–“I already lost one son. I won’t lose another.”

–Really nice casting on the new teenage!Bae. He looks quite a bit like Dylan.

    –“Queen Cobra”

–“I guess I’ll always be paying the price for what you did…what I did.” Yes, good!

    MIXED

–Is it really supposed to be the First Ogres War? Wasn’t that before Baelfire was born, when Rumple ran away?

–Zelena and Robin’s team up is hard to process. On the one hand, this isn’t our Robin so he’s not the one Zelena raped. On the other hand, it’s still Robin and it’s hard to see Robin being chummy with Zelena after all the “history.

–“It’s just like when you needed the crutch to walk.” A true line to be sure but it’s also a bit on the nose. It’s always been perfectly fine as subtext that Rumple traded one crutch for another.

–The Beowulf parallel with Gideon trying to be a hero through questionable means. It felt forced since we’ve never heard anything of Beowulf or this point in Rumple/Bae’s life.

–The Blue Fairy forged Hrunting–a hero sword–but she couldn’t defeat the Dark One’s curse, had no hand in creating Excalibur and has been useless for years. I am so confused on how powerful she actually is!

    DISLIKED

–Rumple tries to poison his son with a memory potion; this is an excellent way to establish a relationship! Rumple, stop taking the easy path. Try conversation!

–In no universe would the Baelfire we’ve seen in the past 6 years through these flashbacks have ever ordered Rumple to kill someone. Nonsense. Guess it’s super convenient that the character is dead and can be endlessly trashed on! Even more convenient that Baelfire was given a memory potion and thus has no idea about any of this!

–“You darkened your soul so our son wouldn’t have to.” What does it matter, Belle? His soul is already black and this doesn’t make up for anything he did in the past few seasons.

–What happened to telling Emma, Hook??? And how about you also tell Charming??

Anyone wanna guess the ratings for tonight’s episode “Ill-Boding Patterns?”

I think we might slip to a .8 based on last week’s half hours and the drop off.

So does this mean that a reboot is definitely going ahead, or is this just hypothetical? Also, it was sent to Lana, so I guess she signed on for the theoretical reboot?

No one will really know for awhile.
