Keymaster“We Will Rise”
“What is she doing??” “Being Clarke.”
Honestly, that’s all that ever needs to be said about Clarke, lol.
I really enjoyed this week’s episode. There were some great private conversations that had a lot of meat on their bones:
–The Clarke/Kane one on one for example. They have Abby in common but they are also a lot alike in terms of leadership. The show is doing a nice job of paralleling Clarke with the two adult leaders of Jaha (the list of 100) and Kane (the empathy). Leadership is hard no matter your age and all Clarke has to look to for examples are Jaha and Kane which is why she can be pragmatic and compassionate.
–Also really enjoyed the Clarke/Niylah morning-after conversation. I like how easy their relationship is. I’m not even sure I can call it a relationship but it’s like they both know that this is for peace and comfort. They aren’t concerned with the “what comes next for us” and it’s nice that Niylah brought up that Lexa lives on in Clarke.
–Octavia and Bellamy in the hospital room. Octavia is stone cold and maybe with good reason but it’s hard to not feel bad for Bellamy. Most of his character development and the center of his story rests with his sister so seeing that sister resistant to her brother’s pleas and worry creates a lot of nice drama. However, while I feel sorry for Bellamy, I also feel bad for Octavia. She and Lincoln were a great pair. When Illian was on his knees with Octavia’s gun to his head, I instantly flashed to Lincoln’s final moments too so nicely played, writers.
–“I think peace is overrated. It’s the fighters who survive.”
–The Luna/Raven/Murphy trio was surprisingly awesome. Also, worried about Raven…
— Hmmmmm. The final moment between Clarke and Bellamy…I agree with @sciencevsmagic that it’s hard for the writers to ignore Bellarke because it’s such a massive trope in TV. And with the whole “Clarke if I never see you again…” I’d agree that we’re likely to get something soon.
ETA: Season 5 news
–I’m actually pretty happy about it because I like the characters so much. I am worried, though, that the story will stagnate and become one Us vs Them conflict after the next. I’d love to see more of the world, learn more about the other peoples still living on earth, though.

KeymasterHeard that at least one of the people mentioned to be renegotiating for a possible next season is actually being killed off #Ouat

KeymasterI also don`t see them going lower than maybe 0.7 in btw all the remain episodes, due to the fact that some episodes may be on festive days. Ther rest mat get mostly 0.9 or 0.8
Yeah at some point OUAT will find its rating floor. 0.7 sounds reasonable.

KeymasterAt this rate I think that ABC will renew OuaT even if they don’t settle the contract negotiations with Bobby, Lana, Jen & Colin. It’d be a stupid decision but OuaT is still one of their stronger shows so I don’t see them letting it go.
Yup, that. It’s still money that they won’t get if OUAT goes off the air and won’t get from the other *many* shows that are getting axed.

KeymasterBut wasn’t Hook like a legit drunken pirate who probably killed people off screen (he was going to kill Rumple before he realized he became the DO.  Wasn’t he hitting on women at bars etc.  He was no saint before he met Milah
To be sure. Though Hook’s time line is really wonky and strange and it’s hard to know exactly when all his misdeeds happen (pre Milah, with Milah, post Milah when Pan released him from NVL?) because the writers try to make it as blurry as possible.
Not having people’s approval sucks and that’s a battle he is still fighting today.  And even after he gets David’s respect, finally, now that likely will leave again once David finds out the news.
Sure. But that’s one thing that did strike me as odd in this past week’s episode (an episode I quite enjoyed btw, apart from this new twist). David and Hook already made amends and had bonded in the Underworld of S5B. So David’s whole disrespect, snarky, meanness to Hook seemed out of left field. But the writers needed it to be heightened in order to make the resolution of David giving Hook is blessing more poignant. Again, like with Belle or Archie the writing works to an extent but….side-eye.

KeymasterIn other ABC news, Time After Time and American Crime are both in danger of being cancelled before OUAT.
#OUAT ratings (0.9) unchanged. #TimeAfterTime (0.6) ticks down. #AmericanCrime (0.5) premiere ratings will test ABC’s lower renewal bound.
— TV Grim Reaper (@TVGrimReaper) March 16, 2017
At this rate, ABC is looking at a great many cancellations: Notorious, Conviction, Secrets and Lies, Time After Time, American Crime, Agents of Shield, Quantico.
OUAT is still higher than all of these meaning its chance of renewal is higher.

KeymasterIgnore that last part. The half hours were 1.0/0.8.
Interesting. I believe last week it was 0.9/0.8
So people liked 6×11 well enough to come back but dropped off at the half hour mark (by quite a bit more than 6×11). Next week will be interesting.

KeymasterAnd you only say less sure about Rumple bc of Neal. Â Eyeroll
I just now saw this one. In some ways this is my fault because I didn’t make explicit what I meant in the parenthetical sidebar so I’ll take some of the blame.
What I meant was “less sure that Rumple will walk away” in that he will die; unlike Zelena and Hook who will probably live.
So you can roll your eyes back front, please.

KeymasterSo you have never felt sorry for Regina?  Felt sorry for Rumple?  Not once.  Especially Regina post season 2.  I just wanna make sure we are treating Regina the same way we are treating Hook.  If you feel the same way about Regina and that she shouldn’t be able to have Robin, have Henry, have a family who loves her….just like Hook shouldn’t get he girl, have a family, the love, the acceptance.
No because like you point out, Regina has lost a lot. I think she’s paid quite a hefty price for her crimes and her slow redemption has been just that–slow. It’s taken seasons. I didn’t actually mean to include Regina in the next thing you quoted me on because I do think Regina has lost a great deal and has shown genuine remorse and anguish over things she’s done.
But what exactly has Hook lost?
I think Regina has paid a lot.  The loss of her father.  The loss of Daniel.  The loss of Robin.  The loss of Cora.  Like seriously?  And you only say less sure about Rumple bc of Neal.  Eyeroll….This all seems like karma for Regina bc of how awful a person she used to be.  For me, that’s paying for her crimes.  How about the loss of her son.  She has slowly built that relationship back.  She even lost her magic there for awhile.  Hook has definitely lost less than Regina.  He’s lost his father, yes he’s lived for a bazillion years but much of it was spent in Neverland being Pan’s lackey, he lost Milah.  He still doesn’t have people’s respect…until finally at the end of the episode when David finally gives it to him.  It’s not like he’s lost nothing.
I already covered my typo for Regina so moving on…
The things you’re saying he lost he either lost by his own hand or before he turned into a full on villain.
1) his father–he killed
2) being Pan’s lacky–which was his choice! He chose to go to NVL and every time Pan sent him to the EF (which is what must have happened when he ran into Robert) he chose to go back because of his need for revenge. He wasn’t enslaved; he wasn’t shackled. He literally got to keep his ship, his crew, and a sense of freedom.
3) Milah–tragic, yes. But lost before he was a villain and majority of his crimes happen AFTER he lost Milah, not before. In other words, losing Milah was not punishment for his villainy in the same way Regina gave up Henry at the end of 3A as a way to pay for her sins.
So, yes. He has lost nothing when compared to the likes of Regina or even Rumple. And he gains a lot: he got back one of his brothers, he got back his ship, he got respect and acceptance from those he’s seriously harmed or injured (Belle, Archie, Snowing), and he “got the girl.” And in a larger out of universe way, he became the leading man in an ensemble show.
I’m not denying that he’s done good things in the past year, especially S6A which seemed tooled toward addressing those lingering concerns fans have voiced over the years (ie: Belle). But that’s three solid years after his introduction. 3 years after A and E declared that he was already a hero. That he had been since the end of 2B. That’s one of my issues. They started addressing those things much later than they should have and not because, IMO, they think Hook actually needs to address them in universe, but I think because they want to shut up the critics. It works to an extent but it also causes me to give them a lot of sideeye.
