I think it’s the Viper Evil Queen inside that little chest…and so begins the Dark OutlawQueen Romance.

Yup. I was thinking the same thing. This Robin is more suited to the EQ than to Regina.

He didn’t after Robert left Rumple threw the hair on the ground and said something like small items can mean big things in that sarcastic tone of voice

I 100% missed that. Thanks. I think I was making a note about parallels between the two men and missed that. Blarg.

Wait. I just realized…why did David still think his father died in a drunken accident (in the flashback in S4) when there was clearly a sword wound through his chest? Did Ruth lie to him?

To me this shows the writer’s worst instincts. I was prepared to let George be the killer because while it would have been predictable, the overall story of Robert’s journey to find his lost son and bring him home was charming (no pun) and heartwarming and matched nicely with the likes of Rumple/Neal and present day Charming and Emma. But no. The writers have to go and have a big tweetable twist like Hook killing Robert and then wanting to propose to Emma. It’s the worst inclination to not let sleeping dogs lie but constantly stir up more drama that ultimately leads nowhere.

Does anyone actually think Emma isn’t going to forgive Hook and claim “it’s in the past and we all do things we regret.” Does anyone actually think she’ll take a stand and say that Hook not only murdered her grandfather but robbed an innocent man of his life? A life Hook could have easily saved (and still take the gold?). No of course not. She’ll handwave it away in the name of love and yes to the ring. And I’m not saying CS is the only couple that does this (Rumbelle is also guilty) but it’s so draining to watch this sort of unnecessary drama when the story was actually good as is, rote and all.

GENERAL: Overall, I actually thought this episode had a lot of good points, particularly the flashback which is a nice change of pace; normally I find the flashbacks to be fairly intolerable. There were some nice through-lines about fathers/sons and fathers trying to fix families on their own and coming up short. There was also some nice character work with Charming in the present day trying to be Prince Charming and knowing it’s not enough sometimes. However, the Robin/Regina story dragged on and is already proving pointless. I also missed Henry and am disappointed that Emma’s only scene involved her and Hook instead of seeing Emma with her parents. Also, I am truly appalled at the twist the Hook killed Emma’s grandfather and it’s not going to matter all. We all know it.

    Rating: 8/10

    LIKED

    –“Demon box”

–Snow giving Regina sound advice that this Robin is not our Robin and she needs to proceed with caution even though Regina’s heart just wants Robin.

–“Fixing this broken family, this is how I fix myself.”

–“Someday, may we all be reunited with our sons.” That hurt right in the chest area. Also, Bobby was totally on point as the Dark One this week; haven’t seen a performance like that from him in awhile.

–“Better be safe?” I normally find very little amusing about Hook, but watching him and Charming try to chem-lab their way to magic was fairly hilarious.

–August told us what pages he took from Henry’s book!

–“What if being Prince Charming isn’t enough?” This is the most color David’s character has had in awhile and it’s nice. I like when the writers explore David’s white knight trope and show how destructive it can be for the individual.

    MIXED

–“Technically I am a pirate still but the good kind.” I’m not even really sure what that means.

–David’s entire present day plot until the climax felt so unnecessary. He doesn’t want to bother Emma but that excuse just sounds flimsy. I get that a major theme of this episode is a father fixing his family (seen across several characters like Robert, David, Rumple) but the idea that David wouldn’t go to the Savior for help is just….silly and drawn out for the sake of filling time and having David and Hook bond even though they kinda already had.

–“Yes, James. I am also your father.” Stranger! Danger! (But seeing young Pinocchio was great).

    DISLIKED

–Emma’s floral blouse-thingy in the opening SB scene was hideous. Maybe the most hideous thing she’s ever worn.

–Zelena showing up demanding that Robin be informed that he has no rights to Baby Robyn. It comes out of nowhere and there’s no reason to believe that WishRealm Robin would want anything to do with Robyn.

–Emma you do not have a superpower. You never have. It’s a convenient plot point when the writers want you to think you have it.

–Regina really needs to return those hearts. Like, that’s just super uncalled for.

–Pleasure Island has modern carnival rides for kids living in the medieval ages. Didn’t they all wonder what a light bulb was???!

–Robert didn’t even try to fight off the guards! He just meekly said “no” and then got dragged away.

–Hook killed Robert. And it’s not going to matter all. It’s so annoying and…other things.

Enough. Shipping wars will not be tolerated in any thread. This includes bashing a ship in its own thread. I don’t care which ship or which thread.

I’ll hand out warnings to anyone who violates this.

I ended up binging the entire series when it came out on Netflix. It was fantastic; NPH is hilarious.

Anyone want to guess the ratings for tomorrow’s episode 6×12?

We tend to say steady for an episode or two so I’ll guess a .9 in the demo, the same as last week.

Hm. So Jasmine is back for the finale? At least the first part.

We’ll probably get 621’s title soon, then.

I have a feeling we might know the fate of OUAT based on the title of 21/22. If 22 ends up being “Happily Ever After” then I think ABC is saying goodbye.

    And if it’s “Renewal”? lol

    LOL! Super obvious!
