Thanks for the spoilers! I wonder why it’s complicated….

My money is still on Snow for the other connection.

I guess I’m just not sold on the idea that PP is involved with the book – I feel like that reveal would be left for later, not season 3. Unless I missed A and E saying it would be revealed this season? I don’t think EVERYONE is working for PP, just GOAT.

It’ll be interesting to see if Belle actually gets the book and what happens from that.

In the first lightening round for this season from TVGuide, when as if we would find out who authored the book this season, Adam said “can’t say” which is Adam-speak for “yes.”
Here is what we do know:
–The author must be old and know all the stories
–The author must be familiar with the EF and its people
–I would guess that the author somehow knew that this book would play a big role in breaking the curse.

Based off that: Blue, Rumple (though I doubt it), PP/Tink are my top choices.

I think RG’s theory about the magic mirror allowing!Belle and Rumple to communicate will come true!

If it happens, there will be many happy dances!

Re Regina: I think on Twitter Adam has said things like, she may not be the big bad but that doesn’t mean she can’t be the antagonist. For better or worse, she is the Evil Queen and she has only take the smallest fraction of a step toward becoming Regina again.

Surely they’re gonna have a story that shows how Ariel’s mother died, (they love killing off parents on this show). In Disney she was crushed by a pirate ship, but they could do anything with it. Make her go steal ink from a Kraken and that sets up a dangerous situation for her. Make her seriously injured in the attempt, and you’ve got a situation where Triton would be desperate enough to give up his trident if Rumple had a way to heal her, (which ultimately didn’t work, and she died). That would connect the story of what happened to Ariel’s mother to something we’ve already seen specifically mentioned, and would set up Ariel having animosity towards Rumple in present day. Would tie it all together nicely.

They could just do a lot of exposition as well; they could do a lot of things for Ariel through dialogue, actually. It depends on if she’s going to be integrated into the cast. If she’s a one time character and maybe only appears in one or two episodes, then all they have to do is give a little bit of background but nothing more. Like Robin Hood; his story was really only there to highlight Rumbelle (unless he really is Tamara’s father).

I think she would have, I mean she’s the one who told Pinocchio to always be honest. But then again she did keep the secret for Geppetto….I guess it depends on how dishonest you think the BF truly is lol.

Sneaky Fairy is Sneaky and that’s all I have to say on that topic. 😉

I think I just like the idea of it not being someone obvious like the BF or Rumple

But is it obvious to us, people who spend waaaaaaay too much time on these forums discussing every possible solution and answer, but not obvious to casual viewers.

Btw, outlandish thought, but did Tinkerbell age in NL? No, right? What if Tinkerbell turned out to be Belle’s mother or something lol. We don’t know what the heck happened to her. That would be a very surprising connection. Although Idk what the rules are for fairies and regular people – Grumpy and Nova couldn’t be together. And we don’t know how long Tinkerbell has been in NL on the show.

This theory actually has legs and has been talked about at length over in the casting announcement for Tink.

Excellent catch you two! Then I like the idea of it being with Belle and her using it to get to know everyone in town.

To answer your last question first, I wouldn’t be surprised if Henry did have the book. I think it’s sort of like his talisman, he carries it everywhere.

To Blue and Rumple: but because Blue lied about the wardrobe would she have put that story in the book? It was almost like a clean slate for her, she could erase what she did. Or, maybe PP ordered her not to if she is in fact working with PP.

See, I can’t see Ursula having any long-term use other than under the water. She’s a cephalopod in Disney’s version and unless she can transform herself into human I don’t see her being a big villain down the road. I’d be okay with Regina taking over the role.

I think Ursula’s role largely depends on how much they want to use Ariel and where in Ariel’s story we are when we met her. If she has never become human then Ursula will probably play a larger role and not be Regina; if, like Macy suggested a few pages back, the events of the Little Mermaid as we know them have passed and Ariel is older than her normal 16 years, then Ursula will probably only be used in one or two flashbacks when we learn about Ariel’s past and in that case, she could be Regina. If the big bad of S3 (part 1) is PP/Tink/THO and the big bad of S3 (part 2) is THO in SB and S4 is mostly Oz (wild prediction based on only a few hints) then Ursula doesn’t need to be any more than Ariel’s personal enemy and not the enemy of the whole core cast.

When the series first started, I had just assumed that the book was a product of the curse- created automatically when the spell was cast. It wasn’t until August started messing with it that I started to question that idea.

Hmm. Never though of that. It’s an intriguing thought but I think with such mystery built around the book by this stage it almost has to have been written by someone.

I don’t think Rumple wrote the book. He was too busy setting up his safeguards for the curse.

I agree with you, but playing Devil’s Advocate: can’t we consider the book to be a safeguard. It is almost as important as Emma. Without the book, Henry never would have “woken up” and gone to find Emma. I still don’t think it was Rumple, though.
