KeymasterHook confronts Captain Ahab over a legendary magical talisman which can free Alice
Sooo Maui’s hook is the MacGuffin of the week. Wanna bet they’re gonna remove Maui from it altogether and just use it as a visual representation of the movie Moana with none of the culture or context?
I’m glad we’re gonna see Alice again, though.

KeymasterEven though we’ve been cancelled and the ratings don’t exactly matter, I was curious if the ABC gambit of picking up AI and moving it to our old time slot of Sunday at 8 (carried over into 9pm) would pay off….
A 2.1 in the first block of time and a 2.4 in second block.
I really have no idea what ABC was hoping for (ie: is that a success, soft, or a total bust) but the drama that followed (Deception) lost a full demo point and did a 1.3 so if ABC was also hoping that an AI lead in would give them another hit drama this year, I don’t think that’s gonna happen.

Keymasterunless they were denied and given limited access by Disney this time around?
That would make sense. OUAT doesn’t have the same pull it used to back, like when it wanted to incorporate Disney’s precious moneymaker known as Frozen.

KeymasterI assumed Fascilier took him to the Nether World or wherever he lives when not on this plane.
Yeah I was thinking he was sent to the Other Side.

KeymasterHonestly I’m pretty annoyed with this storyline. So apparently at some point Regina had a fairly steamy relationship with Dr. Facilier and we know nothing about it nor has it ever been hinted at. The writers could have developed a relationship between the two beginning now and built it from there but instead they are going to muddy the already muddy waters of Regina’s past and try to awkwardly insert a sexual past with a super powerful warlock from a totally different universe. It made me roll my eyes so hard. I really don’t get why they think we need a Faciler/Regina relationship at all. It doesn’t add anything to Regina’s storyline this season which is supposed to be about saving Henry. *sigh*

KeymasterThis episode was boring but also inoffensive which is maybe the best thing the show can strive for now. It doesn’t help that the characters leading this episode–Tiana and Naveen–are flat and underdeveloped as people. We’ve seen so little of Tiana/Sabine that it’s hard to care about any of her plotlines.
Rating: 6/10
LIKED
–Rollin’ Bayou is a clever name for a food truck. Flamin’ Cajun is not.
–I actually thought the giant gator was going to turn out to be Rumple so imagine my surprise when it was, in fact, a gator. CGI wasn’t….terrible?
–Nook and Rumple working together makes for an interesting visual after years and years of Rumple detesting the mere idea of any Hook.
MIXED
–Henry doing a podcast is a modern take on being an author but I kinda hope the voice over doesn’t happen every episode. It would get old quickly.
–Really? No one got a food safety permit for Rollin’ Bayou? Geeeeez. I know, I know..it’s for the story/plot.
–The malicious gator killed Naveen’s brother. I hate when brand new characters randomly drop important character rich stuff like this in the span of twenty seconds. I guess it gives Naveen some color in his story but if they want me to care about him, they gotta stop only telling me stuff through clunky exposition.
–I’m glad Rumple is no longer pretending to be cursed with Regina but I wish he’d ask after Henry or Lucy.
DISLIKED
–It takes several weeks/months to get a headstone made, yes?
–I thought Sabine and Jacinda were going to run the food truck together?
–Facilier and Regina know each other from long ago…how?? I get that Regina was a big deal in EF version #1 but how does Facilier know OUR Regina when he exists in EF 2.0? Seriously, at this point there isn’t much about Regina’s life we don’t know and having her randomly be connected to another powerful sorcerer is….dumb.
–The super heavy dark cloak Cinderella is wearing in the flashbacks is tragic.
–“My enchanted spear is the only thing powerful enough to kill the beast” (ugh)
–Dr. Facilier, a sorcerer/warlock with powerful magics, couldn’t get a necklace swallowed by an actual gator until said creature was dead. The show relies so much on magic until it suddenly needs magic to fail for reasons.
–Facilier and Regina do absolutely nothing for me. I have no idea why this storyline needs to happen.
–I still don’t see any chemistry between Jacinda and Henry and still don’t believe they could actually be True Love in the mold of Snow/Charming.

KeymasterI’m guessing Henry doesn’t want to go to University and Regina is pushing him to continue his education.

KeymasterTo be fair, Belle died at a very old age and died in a heartbreakingly beautiful episode that showed how Rumple could be a good man without magic and how all he needed was an everlasting love like that between him and Belle to overcome his addiction to the Darkness. It’s not like with Nealfire in that she was killed by some villain…

KeymasterOooh I don’t know how I feel about them introducing Maui’s fishhook from Moana. I don’t think we have any casting for anyone to play Maui or Moana and if they try to make Nook a new version of Maui….eh….Imma side eye it pretty hard.

KeymasterThere were preemptions last night because of college basketball, but I think we’ll still keep our 0.5, based on these unroundeds.
I think that’s going to be typical of the rest of the season–slight fluctuations but staying around a .5/.4
