KeymasterOne of the twists they may put on Ariel is that she has the ability to change back and forth. That’s what the teaser suggested, though I don’t know how much to read into that as factual. Since I’ve grown up a lot since The Little Mermaid came out (I was 3) I do recognize that there is a fine line between saying “she wanted to be human so she changed to be happy” and “she changed for a man and gave up her whole family and way of life.” I don’t know how they plan to handle that.

KeymasterIf Bea might knows why PP wants Henry, he knew that PP wants to kidnap Henry. What I think it is really strange. Unless I misunderstood something.
ps. I hope that Merlin will also appear somehow
I think what they are saying is Bae knows PP better than the others, he know what sort of person PP is and what PP does to boys. I don’t think Bae (or anyone) has any idea why PP wants Henry.
As to Merlin, while he is in my top “must see” people, I doubt it will be the first half of this season when it’s pretty much all PP and NL. And since Lancelot isn’t coming back anytime soon, Arthurian legend may be put on hold.

KeymasterYes the crash of the beliefs of Tamara and Greg and their “holy crusade” versus PP is the kind of train wreck I’m hoping to see!
Agreed x 10000. How will it change them?? Will it change them??

KeymasterTom Welling does look like Prince Eric, doesn’t he??
I get the feeling they are going to cast Ariel as younger than a “mother” but closer to the rest of the gang. I have no evidence to support this. 🙂

KeymasterThat was a great interview with A and E. A few things:
1) Tink’s surprising connection is NOT Hook because that was too obvious. I think that also rules out Bae because that is also too obvious. My money is still on Snow.
2) Henry’s belief is a big part of season 3. The title of 301 is totally about Henry.
3) Fairy Tale characters being kept in their backpocket. My thoughts are the Wizard of Oz. They are going to hold on to that until S4.
4) Sounds like 301 is going to be incredible and very revealing.
5) Bae may have a better idea as to why PP wants Henry. Interesting. I wonder how much Bae knows about PP. The boys being kept in NL against their will may have never met PP or had any interaction with him but maybe Bae did.
6) Tink is going to be very different.

KeymasterYou mean premiere? As in 301.

KeymasterGiven that they’ve made PP a 17 yr old, Ariel will be at least the same age (I can’t see them casting anyone younger) but if they go with Macy’s idea of a more mature Ariel, she could be between 20-30, which I would be totally fine with. None of our other Princesses are their original 16 yrs old.
And yes, if they plan on making her a romantic partner for someone (anyone) then they do need to flesh out her character as more than just “the mermaid.” For OUAT that typically means some sort of troubled past, family or relationship wise. Perhaps both in order to work Triton and her sisters in.

KeymasterI’ve seen Little Mermaid be tossed around as the LBGT storyline. While I totally ship Hookriel, they could very easily make Prince Eric into Princess Erica and still keep most of the Anderson/Disney story.

KeymasterA thought did just occur to me in regards to the original tale, versus the Disney version and then Once’s twist. I think it would be quite interesting if Prince Eric did exist in the tale *in flashbacks*. Ariel made a deal with Urusla/Rumple/Regina in order to become human, but Eric *does* fall in love and marry someone else, keeping with Anderson’s original story. Instead of turning into sea foam, there is some other consequence, ie. no voice, stay a human, return to being a mermaid, banished to Neverland, etc. And maybe she doesn’t like humans anymore. Maybe she’s not necessarily going to be the most helpful to our heroes at first. Maybe she’s a little bitter at the circumstances she was left with. Not to say that she’s evil mind you, just maybe not the kind, innocent girl we all know. She’s a little bit more grown up now, and she’s loved and lost. And maybe it takes someone to make her change her mind… a handsome, charming, swaggering pirate that has also loved before, and thought he would never love again?
Ooooh. Ooooooooooh. This I like.
