KeymasterWell that’s a nice confirmation. So, 8 back-to-back and then a week off for AMA’s and then the final two until the spring. The real question will be when the spring episodes begin; the first 10 will take us to mid-December and I think they’d give us at least a month so probably the last week in January? Matt–what do you think? And how would that schedule look with all the breaks for the set in stone big events?

KeymasterAnyone else think the EQ stole a heart?

KeymasterHook is not a fan favorite. He is easily the most disliked character on the show.
Oh I disagree a bit. He’s the most polarizing, to be sure, but that stems from his overwhelming popularity back in his introduction and how people viewed him with Emma. I think in more recent years the dislike has become more vocal because more fandoms (ie: not just SQ and SF) have joined in but those those who loved Hook only love him more now and they are still a large portion of the fanbase.
You’re both right. He’s a base-breaker. Those who like him, LOVE him. Those who dislike him, HATE him. And he has only become more divisive over the years.
Pretty much that.
Also, Sean’s tweet is….interesting.

KeymasterI like to to say it DOES take place in the Super Legends of Flarrowverse, albeit on Earth-2 (which is similarly anachronistic*), in the 80s or 90s.
Oh I like that idea!

KeymasterI wonder if this is actually about the fairies. I am still looking for some evil fairies.
Please let this be about Sneaky Fairy. Please let this be about Sneaky Fairy. Please let this be about Sneaky Fairy.

KeymasterWhat an odd title.
I do think that Adam and Eddy will write 610, since it should be the Winter Finale, based on Adam’s comments about the first half of the Season being 10 episodes.
Agreed.

KeymasterOkay. Finally got to sit down and watch this week’s episode
General: This episode was more enjoyable than episode 1, I agree. I like that so many of the characters are working in the same arc–Baby!Batman is sort of off on his own adventure, but it connects back to the Mad Villains storyline vis a vis the Court of Owls. The scenes feel like they are working together instead of shifting so dramatically. My biggest complaint is with Ivy.
LIKED
—Props to David Mazouz for the opening scene with Catherine. Usually “Baby!Batman is in danger!” scenes annoy me because nothing is going to happen to him, as we all well know, and so the stakes are never really there but this scene was more like a chess game than putting him in mortal danger.
–Mulan and Jim have more chemistry together than Jim ever had with Lee or Barbara.
–“Turns out I’m perfectly sane!” Thank GOD they went the crazy route with Barbara. It may be loony, over the top and full of scene chewing but lord on high, it’s fun.
–B.D Wong is such a versatile actor. I spent the summer watching him play a transgender woman, a character with incredible care and precision and obsession with meter and time on Mr. Robot and here he is again, hamming it up as Dr Strange, with ease.
–“You had to come back didn’t you?” “Like a bad penny” I can’t stand Fish anymore but I laughed at this little Harvey/Fish exchange.
–Fish’s explanation for leaving Penguin alive was at least interesting and I like that they connected back to Strange’s own God Complex.
–Alfred did a little twirl. Bless.
–Ooooh. Baby!Batman meets Baby!Clone!Batman
MIXED
–What decade is Gotham supposed to be set in?? It has computers and modern software but look at hairstyles of the reporters in the crowd–ladies sporting Victory Rolls–and the cameras are all 1940/1950s style. Add in some of the style choices of the women, gangsters, and Val’s very “plucky 1920s gumshoe” vibe and I am often confused when Gotham takes place.
DISLIKED
–No Nygma. This is never going to be okay.
–Of course Lee comes back to Gotham right as Jim and Mulan get closer. How cliche!
–Ivy’s story is so…outside of the rest of the narrative. And she’s such a peripheral character (on this show at least) that it’s hard to care about her, especially when they are going to sex her up.

KeymasterAlright folks…this looks like it won’t be an easy season no matter which direction it goes! So whose going to be bringing the gin every Sunday night because I feel like we’re all going to need it!
Lord. All of that sounds quite plausible.

Keymasterwe saw Robin’s soul literally explode, disappear, or whatever it did
I think you hit the nail on the head though–we don’t actually know what Robin’s soul did and because A and E never really explain the mechanics of it, they can say that his soul did pretty much anything. Maybe it reformed in some sort of nether realm. Maybe it flew into a mirror-verse and he’s trying to make contact (Slurpeez already pointed out the feather from above). Because this is completely uncharted for the show, and because their world is already so shaky, they can kinda go in any direction.

KeymasterWell Sean Maguire has too much love and respect for his Hoodies to just be doing this while knowing it could crush us if it has no positive ending whatsoever….and this is a show that has broken the “Dead Is Dead” rule more times than they’ve said it counts.
True. but this also a show that manages to disappoint us Everytime we get a bit of hope. I am starting to think that the happy ending here is that Robin becomes her mirror to help Regina with something and then departs to the better place forever, both of them at peace.
