The writers just wanted to get Anwar out and this was their convaluted solution.

I agree. It felt like halfway through the season they realized Anwar wasn’t quite up the task of being a menacing Lady Tremaine and decided that they liked Gothel better anyways so they wrote her out.

Are they trying to make Zelena and Nook a thing? There was definitely a vibe there.

I had the exact same thought but if Zelena/Kelly has a fiancee in San Fran…that makes it really complicated, right?

My turn! I was hoping that the last 12 episodes of the series manage to hit it out of the park and parts of this episode are fine. Gothel is interesting enough to keep the next 11 episodes from being a waste and the audience has a lot of vested interest in Regina and Henry. But honestly outside of that, that same *something* that was missing from the first half is still missing. So much of the magic is gone. The writing and acting feels stilted and tired, like many shows winding down after years and years on the air.

    7/10

    LIKED

–“You’re a believer Henry, even if you don’t know it.” I’m hoping we get a Regina/Henry reunion soon. It’s gonna be so emotional.

–I much prefer Gothel as a villain to Rapunzel/Lady Tremaine. The latter was just so ineffectual and boring.

–Nook! LOL that’s a good one.

–Love the Haunted Mansion shout out with Madame Leota and incorporating the voice over of the ride. Plus the fact that Memento Mori is the name of the gift shop outside of the Haunted Mansion ride!

    MIXED

–The fact that I’m relieved at the minimal Jacinda in this episode is a sign of how terrible the writing/acting of this character have been.

–Hmmm. I don’t know how I feel about them waking up Lucy this early. The threat was never real (please, they’d never kill Lucy nor Henry) but now it feels like a waste of a good story.

–RIP Rapunzel? Anwar was horrible in this role so it’s not a great loss but again, waste of a mediocre story. Also, they made her a regular cast member for almost nothing!

    DISLIKED

–Seriously, I know I’m a broken record but what is up with this nonsense timeline??? How is Robyn a late teen in SB “years ago.” I legitimately do not understand.

–The Resurrection Amulet? That’s a new plot device, right? One that probably would have been useful years ago but is only now coming to light?

–Mother Nature is a pseudonym for Gothel? Suuuuuuure.

–The high heel hit in just the right spot on the rope level on the first try. *rolls eyes*

–The amulet was in the sign? And Zelena had a lucky guess? Sure. Suuuure. Whatever.

–Okaaaaay. Awkward question but does Robyn *know* how she was conceived??

ctually big announcements don’t all get announced. Remember how they kept the big announcement about Wish Hook appearing? Logically they would do the same about others like the return of Snowing.

Wish Hook isn’t the return of an ACTOR who hasn’t been seen all season. Now had Colin go off the show for a whole year and then made a return without an announcement you’d have a case but these are two different scenarios. The closest is MRJ’s brief return in the 100th episode which WAS kept hidden until about a week before the 5B premiere aired.

The only way I can see–right now–the show getting Snowing back but also having to deal with the Emma problem is if Henry goes back to SB to introduce his family to the SB family and we see the yellow bug pull up but never seen anyone get out (or a backshot of a blonde head but never see Emma’s/JMo’s face). Because @hjbau has a point: having Adult!Henry interact with everyone BUT Emma back in SB or in present day HH would be…weird. Just like it’s been an elephant in the room that no one from HH who has their memories has tried to get in contact with SB–there’s just some vague reference to how they can’t but no explanation as to why Regina couldn’t just call up Emma/Snow/Charming and say “um, we got a problem here.”

On the contrary, in case you forgot, Ginnifer spoiled in an interview after s6 that she and Josh can come back soon. And this may be it if they can make.

It wasn’t definite. Just that they would be open but that was also before Josh’s pilot got picked up by NBC and I’m hearing that GG might also have something new in the works. So, things could have changed from their open availability because that’s the nature of the beast that is Hollywood.

They could still make time, though. It’s possible. But I think it’ll be a big announcement and not kept hidden.

Not sure is so simple as that, especially bc Adam said on twiter sometime ago that was 2017 in HH, but he also said that in 2017 in Sb Henry was still at home, that he left Sb after 2017, so a big mess.

The timeline is a lie lol. And we all know timeline nonsense has never stopped them in the past.

Really surprised there was no “be there for the beginning of the end” type of voice over.
