So maybe it was Hook. He learned from Cora and Regina that if they leave SB they also loose their magic. He could assume the same about Rumple. So he needs to keep the Mill’s ladies distracted with a fake location so he could run off to NYC and attack Rumple, knowing now that he’s not the Dark One anymore (temporarily) and thus can strike.
When you said “the Mill’s ladies,” it hit me that Mills sounds suspiciously like MILLER… as in The Miller’s Daughter.
I’m sure many have made that connection before, but it’s just hitting me now
Yup! And in “The Stable Boy” we learned that Cora was the daughter of a Miller, so chances are she’s the one from legend and Regina is the baby good ol’ Rumple wanted.

KeymasterUh. Cora madly in love? Are we sure that’s not…a lie?
I doubt it’s Rumple given Cora’s manipulative control over Gold when she forced that kiss. If anything, he fell for her after she seduced him and then she broke his heart (for which she must die!).
Well, Slurpeez. This may prove you right with King George. If she fell for George but then made herself barren and then he divorced her, that would break her heart. And then she marries Henry Sr but isn’t in love with him."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"RumplesGirl
KeymasterIn SB: Johanna, Snow’s nurse
In FTL: isn’t that Eva?? Or is that too obvious?"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"RumplesGirl

Keymasteri don’t know if the the “tree is Pinocchio” thing is real and serious or not. I can’t decide. But mostly I’m laughing hysterically.

Cora could find his name on the dagger and guess it to be his name thus keeping in line somewhat with the traditional Rumple tale. BUT it doesn’t explain how she knows how it works. She called it the Kris dagger in Manhattan and I don’t think we’ve ever heard it called that before. Her knowledge of the dagger seems pretty extensive. So I think that if the dagger is how she found out about Rumple name, it isn’t all she found out.
In Manhattan, are you sure Cora called it the Kris dagger and not the cursed dagger? Too bad this episode isn’t on DVD so we could check the subtitles. Anyway, there are a lot of things Cora knows about Rumple, his son, his dagger, and the specifics of the curse that are very specific. If she and Rumple were lovers, as the spoilers suggest, perhaps she charmed the Dark One into giving up his secrets, which was why Rumple was so careful not to repeat the same mistake with Belle. In Skin Deep, Rumple said something close to, “Perhaps you just want to learn the monster’s weaknesses!” which makes me think Cora did just that. 💡
When I had my CC on it said “Kris” dagger both during the live airing and next day on Hulu but that could have been in error, obviously, since we’ve never heard it called that before.
I like your last point. Rumple could see Belle as being another Cora, trying to get his secrets to destroy him, like Cora did. I actually like that a lot because it adds another reason for why falling for Belle in Skin Deep scared him so much. They keep giving us more things to make Rumple even more sympathetic.Edit/Afterthought: if Cora is this manipulative, as I think she will turn out to be, then maybe she only made Rumple think that Regina was his daughter. What better way to have the Dark One on your side and ensure that no harm ever comes to you or your kingdom? But then Cora got too egotistical, thought she could control him and thus broke his heart by telling him and Regina wasn’t his at all, but Henry/George/

KeymasterI’m actually very sure that her character is going to be very likable. They want us to struggle with the new triangle, and make it harder for Neal to leave her for Emma.
But her purpose on the show makes me disinclined to like her too much. And if she is Tinkerbell, that only add to it. I couldn’t stand that fairy in the movie."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"RumplesGirl
KeymasterAnyone else going to use this thread to chat during the live stream? Might be fun 🙂

KeymasterI honestly don’t think Rumple would leave a real map behind. It just seems so out of character for him; he’s far too clever for that. He knows that if he leaves town Cora is going to be wrecking madness and he’s smart enough to figure out that she is probably after his dagger because I think she’s gone after it once before. So he laid a trap, keep the Mill’s women busy while he’s off finding Bae.
