Judging from what others have posted in the recent comments in the Hook thread, I think we all agree that he is better as a character who is in the grey area, like Regina, but that the writers just aren’t doing a good job by writing him as if those dark parts don’t exist at all and ignore them.
Yes that’s it. Or if they do acknowledge the bad parts, they are quick to write a “good act” that somehow wipes away all the bad ones, no matter how minor or paltry the good one may be.
