I don’t think they even think about the actions of the characters. It is hey, we want you to like this relationship, so like it. Hey, we want you to not like this relationship, so don’t like it. They don’t care about it being problematic, abusive, and unhealthy. They don’t even realize that it is that way. I do think that they just do the same things over and over again too, so having similar scenes between what they consider a “good” couple and what they consider a “bad” couple isn’t something they would even think about.
Ultimately this is where I come down as well. And it goes back to the tumblr post I posted about 4 pages back: the white heterosexual male place of privilege.

Right, it does. But then again what was the point of the deliberate parallels? Either they honestly think that the CS and Arthur/Gwen relationships are healthy expressions of love (even if occasionally problematic–but hey every couple has it problems?) that we should celebrate and root for OR they are under-handily and sneakily bashing their CS ship without actually saying out loud that CS is problematic and terrible because they’re too far down the proverbial rabbit hole.

It’s very hard. And with regards to those parallels I posted above, it’s difficult to know if they writers were being deliberate or just lazy. Like, if it was deliberate then what was the point? Or where they just using “stock” scenes and completely unaware of what they were doing?
