KeymasterI think they do think that any the captain swan relationship is an expression of love and we should celebrate it. I don’t think they even think about the actions of the characters. It is hey, we want you to like this relationship, so like it. Hey, we want you to not like this relationship, so don’t like it. They don’t care about it being problematic, abusive, and unhealthy. They don’t even realize that it is that way. I do think that they just do the same things over and over again too, so having similar scenes between what they consider a “good” couple and what they consider a “bad” couple isn’t something they would even think about.
Ultimately this is where I come down as well. And it goes back to the tumblr post I posted about 4 pages back: the white heterosexual male place of privilege.

KeymasterActually, I think it was “Wait For It” But yes, I love that story!
Ack! You’re right. This is why I shouldn’t try to type at 4:30 am
Tony’s:
–I think Daveed will win as well.
–Obviously it will get best musical
–Also, I think Lin will best actor and that’s a really tough call. Leslie does deserve it, absolutely. But I think the sheer popularity and sheer magnetic force that is Lin is going to sway the judges.

KeymasterIt seems too coincidental for it to be unintentional.
Right, it does. But then again what was the point of the deliberate parallels? Either they honestly think that the CS and Arthur/Gwen relationships are healthy expressions of love (even if occasionally problematic–but hey every couple has it problems?) that we should celebrate and root for OR they are under-handily and sneakily bashing their CS ship without actually saying out loud that CS is problematic and terrible because they’re too far down the proverbial rabbit hole.

KeymasterBrilliant. There are no words for how much I respect and admire Lin.
Agreed. I love that he came up with “The Room Where it Happens” on a subway.

KeymasterIt is hard because i think the writers are that stupid. They have no idea what they are doing, in my opinion. Certainly not when it comes to “true love”.
It’s very hard. And with regards to those parallels I posted above, it’s difficult to know if they writers were being deliberate or just lazy. Like, if it was deliberate then what was the point? Or where they just using “stock” scenes and completely unaware of what they were doing?

Lin-Manuel is some sort of crazy genius. Possibly just crazy. Possibly just a genius.

KeymasterFun reminder that this is absolutely something they did in 5A (though, as usual, nothing came of it and there’s no commentary on from the writers themselves)
