KeymasterGoing along with the above link…Kiki did a nice job of explaining A and E, privilege, and writing. This one is WELL worth the read, guys.

KeymasterThe thread came out of hibernation.
How’s everyone? It’s quiet, I know. Since this is really the only “vacation” I get from OUAT, I tend to savor the quiet first month following a finale.
Anyway, here’s a link to an article I read recently that got me thinking about fan culture and entitlement. Thought some of you might enjoy:

KeymasterA few updates!
This is my Bromstick Lace Mobius. I made this out of this most gorgeous yarn I’ve ever seen when @HeatherC1212 and @Dontstopbelievin decided it would be a good idea to take @Josephine and I to a yarn store. That was dumb of them, to be honest.
The yarn is Painted Sky, color “Tropical Flame”

A Spring Wreath I made for my mom out of Big Twist Premium “Shamrock;” various scrap yarns for the roses and BonBon “Beach” for the bee (whom my mom named Bentley)

My aunt asked me to make her coworker a baby set. Done in Deborah Norville Baby Serenity “Tea Roses”

Summer handbag in Wool Ease Thick and Quick “Fisherman;” Lined with two fat quarters (Red Trellis), two 6” bamboo handles, and added a decorative red flower.

KeymasterAs usual they being 2-ish weeks before SDCC, so we’ll have stuff prior to the panel.

KeymasterJust like the Batman Clone gives me major pause.
Oh, Batman Clone feels totally wrong to me, as well. I think the show already puts too much time and effort into Batman when it should be developing the city and villains *more.* I understand Batman is going to have a role in the show, but I think it’s already too large. More Nygma, less Baby!Batman

KeymasterGreat finale. I have no real investment in Nick’s love life one or the other, but I do like Adelind. Also yay for Monrosalee!!

KeymasterSee, I had the same thought, Jiminy. I’m not much older than “Bill” and I don’t see a lot of girls my age dressing like that. I still think she might be an 80s girl.

KeymasterTurns out all the theories are wrong….
Bill isn’t from the 1980’s. She’s from modern/current time. And Moffat “thinks” her real name is “Billie.” She will NOT be appearing in the Christmas special this year as the new companion.

KeymasterI do not LIKE THE COURT OF OWLS. there I said it. I think the secret council is cliche and overused and to close to Galavan stuff which turn sour with me after that gawd awful family feud backstory.
From a mythology standpoint I do like CoO. They’re important to the Batman mythos. But I am very worried what the show will do to them. Gotham has a tendency to put in an interesting villain, make him/her seem super scary and worthy of a large arc….and then kill him/vanish him or her an episode or two later. They’ve done it countless times now–Scarecrow, the Ogre, Galavan/Azrael, Tabitha, Jerome, Mr. Freeze–for me to trust the writers in an measurable degree. If the writers had proven to me that they were capable of sustaining a long arc with a solid villain, I’d worry less. But as it stands…
The show also has a too-many-cooks problem. Seriously, how many villains were just unleashed onto Gotham City, not taking into account Penguin and Nygma and Fish (and the mob? Are they still a thing? Or have we forsaken them in place of non-human villains?)
