KeymasterI’m guessing the Guardian actually has something to do with the big bag monster we saw at the end of S6 in the flashforward (I maintain it’s a flashforward to life POST HH and not a flashback). Which still makes it seem like it’s either Henry or Lucy which would make sense given that Henry and Lucy are a Emma/Henry stand in from the first six seasons. One was the Savior and one was the Heart of the Truest Believer.

KeymasterIs Marcus the father she was talking about who was Cecilia’s true love?
I think so, yes.
I was under the impression that the mushroom gave Cecilia the poisoned heart curse, being as it was a mushroom from Wonderland, but now I’m not so sure.
I thought so too but I don’t know how Rapunzel would know what to do with it (I don’t exactly look at mushrooms and go “ah! I must squeeze it!”) or what the mushroom would even do.

KeymasterRatings are in for 709. We kept our 0.5, and did 2.49 million viewers. With the winter finale next week, I think we can safely say that a 0.5 is our floor for at least the Fall run.
Agreed.

KeymasterWhat I don’t get is the sequence of events;
Marcus dives into the water and pulls out Cindy. He tells Tremaine that he “could only save one” but them moments later we see Tremaine hauling Ana to Gothel in an attempt to revive her. So…Marcus dove back in and pulled out Ana but yet claims he “could only save one” which implies that one was further away and Ella just happened to be within in his grasp?

KeymasterI think this is simply all magic comes with a price and this was the price of this bit of magic. Lucy’s life for Anastasia.
Yup.

KeymasterPassing thoughts:
–Marcus was horrible! He had about as much development as a tree stump. I can 100% see a man moving on a marrying another woman after six years of believing his first wife was dead. But then he gets his first wife a job as a maid for his second wife, and then when second wife vanishes/dies (and is apparently heartbroken according to Ella’s telling of it??) he goes back to his first wife but then chooses his second wife’s daughter over his own. I mean, he’s just totally lacking in character understanding.
–Where was the family going in the opening scene? Marcus is sick but they need food so Rapunzel’s idea is to load the family into a carriage and ride rough shod over the Enchanted Forest until they happen to find something to eat–radishes in this case which will do nothing for a fever and do only slightly more for a hungry child. (also, why are they so poor? They have a horse and buggy, for heaven’s sake. I’m not trying to get super historical here but a horse and a buggy that did not belong to a larger landowner and was free to use at will was a bit of a luxury. Think of Rumple–he and Bae had to walk their product everywhere)
–This is the kind of story that needed to be told over a series of several episodes in order to let our characters really sit and live in their internal angst. We just jumped from plot point to plot point and I have zero sense of who Marcus, Anastasia, Rapunzel and even Drizella are as people. Did Rapunzel love Anastasia more just because Drizella had a hard time once Rapunzel came back? That makes her a pretty crappy mother, tbh. But we don’t know because of the rapid fire pace of story telling.

KeymasterOkay but who are these witches, where did they come from, and why are they important to this story right now? Gothel is probably one but….?????

KeymasterHenry is definitely a good call….but what would he sacrifice?
Honestly at this point I think they are going to say “different realm, different curse”

KeymasterGeneral: Eh; It was fine. It was one of those episodes that needed to squeeze in a lot of character story so it sped through the motions without letting us really sit with some really deep heavy emotions and plot points. Also, the more we go on, the more Gabrielle Anwar bothers me. Not enough Alice, Ivy or Roni.
Rating: 7/10
LIKED
–“To be honest, not since she was 4.”
–“It’s air freshener!”
–Rumple making people hold the dagger and asking if they “feel” anything is fascinating.
–Rumple talking about Bae will always make me sentimental and nostalgic for the old days of OUAT when Rumple the Father and Nealfire the Lost Boy was part of the heart of this show.
MIXED
–“There’s always my way!” *a mushroom appears on the mantel* They aren’t going for comedy here but I laughed a lot.
–Squeezing a mushroom releases clear liquid? Sure.
–I’m so confused. Is the Guardian supposed to be a new Dark One or is it the person who can live in the tower? Or is it both? Or neither? This is why introducing new mythology into a six year long series is wonky.
DISLIKED
–Holy fast plotting, Batman. There’s almost no set up for Rapunzel being trapped in the tower. It all happens in about 2 mins.
–Really? It took Rapunzel all that time to realize that if she left her hair inside the tower she could leave? Based on all the hatch marks she was in the tower for a *long time* and she never tried this before?
–Someone needs to teach other writers to let us live in the lives of the characters. There’s so much internal emotional angst to mined from Rapunzel’s story with her daughters and Marcus but they just jump from one plot point to the next. I want to see Rapunzel’s emotional state living in the tower, after she sees Cecelia and her trying to live without her kids and Marcus, or how they apparently reunited. But instead they just jump from Big Plot Point A to Big Plot Point B. Its just enough to make us slightly sympathetic but not enough to truly make us care. I mean does anyone remember when characters stores took place over multiple episodes and not all crammed into one?
–So the mushroom did what exactly?

KeymasterFinal guesses for who cast the curse. Not Drizella. I am going with Regina, just because.
Predictable answer: Drizella
Wild Card answer: Henry
