KeymasterEarly HH numbers are in and we actually rose .1 in the household numbers. It’s hard to tell what that will mean for our all important demo, but I think it means holding on to our 1.2 from last week.

KeymasterMost of the time he’s seemed to need another agent to do the deed. Either that’s because he enjoys forcing other people to destroy each other or because just as he can’t touch the living without the proper protocol, he can’t destroy the souls without some intervening thing happening. Have we actually seen Hades himself put someone in the river without help?
I guess you mean an actual human and not a goopy mess? Then no. But he can touch the living; he touched Belle’s baby belly (through clothes but gods that’s a fine line to walk) in 5×17. And He literally held Zelena on the bike ride.

KeymasterAlso, why on Earth does Belle think her father of all people can save her? Isn’t he the one who tried to force her into a loveless, political marriage? *Sigh*
See and this is one of the reasons why I think Belle might be manipulating Rumple. She has to know that Moe can’t do it; she’s already had TLK with Rumple (if a brief one). So when Moe fails, Belle’s depending on Rumple deciding to give up the darkness in order to save him.

Keymaster-Why doesn’t Hades turn everyone into gloop before they have the chance to move on to a better place.
Yes if Hades can do what he did to Auntie Em, then why can’t he just dump a whole vat of the river on Emma et al’s head and call it a day?

KeymasterRuby and Dorothy were pretty cute, but there really weren’t any “seeds” (Adam’s words) in S3a (other than the sleeping curse from which Hook’s dad supposedly awoke via TLK). At least in the case of Ruby and Dorothy, they had at least met prior to Dorothy falling under the sleeping curse (unlike in the case of Hook’s dad and the nurse); yet, it’s really quite unbelievable when any couple falls in love so quickly. Sure, each person can be attracted to the other, but true love at first sight? Come on!
I think the other seed Adam meant was that Ruby felt the need to go off an find her people (which is a heavy handed and weird way of saying she’s gonna be gay). But yeah, I agree with the super rushed nature of this relationship, even if they did have some heartfelt moments

KeymasterI’m somewhat surprised that this episode isn’t called “Siblings” instead.
Yup.
I am excited to see Cora and Zelena though.

KeymasterFirstly, it seemed way too rushed. Secondly, Red/Mulan made more sense – to me, anyway. It really seemed like they intended to go with Red Warrior and changed their minds after The Bear King.
It does feel like they set up Mulan Rogue and then got cold feet for some inexplicable reason? Was it Disney??

KeymasterOh I agree it would be really anticlimatic for it to not be Rumple. That seems fairly straight forward.
So…then here’s a question: Rumple being forced into giving up his darkness….is that enough? He hasn’t changed his perspective. He still loves the dagger; he still wants those powers. It’s just that this one time, he put Belle first. But is that enough to resist the allure forever? He’s still the Dark One and a man who makes terrible (if human) choices.

KeymasterHades didn’t enchant Hook’s hook to carve names, he gave him a tool. Why should they bother with continuity in the SAME season?
*blinks*
You’re right. Hook had a chisel, which he throws to the ground in 5×14 when he refuses to do as Hades bids. Hades even directly references the tool!
Hades: (Sighs) Oh, come on. All you need to do is choose three of your friends to stay here. Carve their name. W-what’s the problem? Is it the chisel? So unwieldy for the one-handed. Or writer’s block?

KeymasterI am of so many minds over this that I think it needs bullet pointed…
PRO
–Ruby and Dorothy did have a pretty nice connection. Their walk/talk was a nice moment about how alone they felt WITHOUT it being about their sexuality.
CON
–But every character on this show feels like an outcast at some point and it’s not like they developed true love with the person standing beside them who also felt like an outcast!
CON
–The love stories on this show are becoming tragically under developed with each passing season. It takes more than one walk and talk, one bike ride, one flower, one adventure to know that you’re in true love. Remember when this show used to declare that true love was rare and that’s why it must be fought for?
PRO
–Acceptance by all characters over how Ruby felt without any shock or disgust
CON
–Mulan keeps using gender neutral terminology when discussing the person it was “too late” for her to be with.
PRO
–A long and extended TLK for an LGBT ship
CON
–And now they go off to Forgotten Character Island making this episode feel like it was only to generate buzz, appeal to sensationalism, and appease the LGBT fanbase of OUAT. It’s almost cheap; have an LGBT canon ship but never explore it in the same careful, meaningful, and lengthy way the did for, say, Snowing.
