KeymasterRumple sees it as part of his identity. He’s been the dark one for so long that it’s literally become a part of him. That is who he is. I don’t think he’s necessarily telling Belle that she has to accept he’s going to go out murdering the peasants, but he’s essentially saying “I am the dark one and you need to accept that if this relationship is going to work”
But can you (well, Rumple) separate those two: the Dark One and the Murdering? He hasn’t been able to in…well, a long time.

Keymaster@Rainbow glad you can post again. We’ll pretend it was cause I did something magical.

KeymasterI think I’ll have to re-watch this episode — and that’s something I haven’t done with OUAT in a long time. It seemed much more introspective (that’s good!) than usual.
This is the first episode in probably over a year that I’ve rewatched the next day, and not just for podcast. I rewatched it because I just really wanted to

KeymasterCharles Mesure (Blackbeard) has also joined Dead of Summer:
Man. A and E are just pulling all manner of OUAT alums.

KeymasterI don’t have answers to Nevermore’s questions. And I have one of my own. Belle is such a non-entity most of the time and with everything else going on–Zelena, Hades, Underworld life–is Belle even going to be given room to explore what her relationship with Rumple is like and what it will entail going forward? How should Belle approach these very difficult circumstances?

KeymasterI mean anyone watching that knows what that was.
Yeah you would think. But I remember a lot of fan claiming that Mulan was going to talk to Philip but backed out once she realized that there was a baby now.
It was always clear (to me) that she was in love with Aurora and gay, but since they’ve played it so close to the vest and had Mulan never use a proper pronoun when talking about her love interest…they could, theoretically, change the perception of Mulan’s sexuality.
With that said, I don’t think they will. That’s a lot of backlash that would hit them all at once (first with changing Mulan’s sexuality, and then with–possibly–killing one half of the only LGBT couple on the show). If anything, they’ll keep Mulan vague and undeclared.

KeymasterI *really* *really* don’t want Hades to be playing Zelena. I’ve watched that final scene between them so many times now and either Hades is truly head over heels in love or he’s a better manipulator than Rumple.
God, when I say it like that, it’s very possible he’s playing her. (nope. I have #hope) (What’s happening to me, guyz)

KeymasterIf it’s not Mulan, the previously established LGBT character, that’s a truly terrible narrative point.
But what’s even worse is if it is Dorothy and Red (or, heck even if it is Dorothy and Mulan) and Dorothy is DEAD. They set up and promise an LGBT relationship to show that they believe in diversity and representation and all forms of love….and then kill one half of the pairing before even canonically establishing said pairing!
Can anyone think of a set photo or anything that would prove that Dorothy isn’t dead??

KeymasterThe Next Day ratings for 5×16 “Our Decay” saw almost no change in live eyeballs and no change in the demo.

KeymasterIn short, no. While I agree that the show has shifted dramatically in theme and tone, it is still capable, at times, to invoke the same feelings and resemble the show of S1-3A.
There have been several writing staff changes over the years, but A and E as show runners dictate how the show is written and what messages are communicated. Since they are still around, the only thing that has changed are the messages they wish to communicate.
