KeymasterOMG you guys, Hades is the Tin Man!!!
SFGLOL yes.
In the original Oz books, the Tin Woodsman is really Nick Chopper who was prevented from marrying the woman he loves and ends up chopping off his limbs, each one being replaced with tin. The only thing that was never replaced was his heart.
I’m sorta bummed though that the writers didn’t go with what we thought: that Zelena literally had Hades’s heart.

KeymasterI wil say this: I liked that Hades isn’t forcing the issue in present day. I like that he’s going to build up trust so that Zelena can see he’s serious. That’s better than him declaring he loves her and she just falling into this waiting arms and letting him handle all that is wrong in her world. It does give me some #hope that they can convince me that these two are true love because of something other than the mandates of the plot.

KeymasterSee this is my problem: Isaac, the only other author we’ve met, knew what he was writing. He didn’t black out during writing or whatever. So…is this a retcon? Or this is just because it’s Henry?

KeymasterI’m not quite sure I’m buying Teri Reeves’ performance. Her line deliveries felt, for the lack of a better word, monotone? Maybe I need to see more of her to fully judge, as she didn’t get that much screentime here.
I got the same impression. She was pretty flat for me.

KeymasterIt *has* to be Emma. I’m going to be pretty irate if it’s the TL between Hades and Zelena that ends the Underworld.

KeymasterLackluster seems fair. She played no role other than just being there. I’m not sure what her purpose was except to delay Zelena taking the Scarecrow’s brains so that Hades could enter the picture and help her out.

KeymasterI literally don’t know what to do with this. Here’s the thing; I don’t think you can build a believable romance that I should care about and root for in 20 mins. Especially with two characters who 1) are villains and 2) are not traditionally linked together. You have to show me their feelings instead of inserting a lot of clunky dialogue in which the words “true love” are uttered over and over to tell me that they are true love. In other words, you gotta show instead of tell.
I rolled my eyes a lot of at the Hades and Zelena stuff because why should I care? Zelena is a horrible villain (and that’s what makes her fun) but suddenly she’s got a male love interest and a baby and I’m supposed to feel something other than delight in her snark? It’s wonky. And Hades, who has been a malevolent but charming villain is suddenly a god with man pain and that makes him like every other sad sack on the show. It doesn’t help that their love story was told over the course of twenty minutes and one bike ride. Snow and Charming, Rumple and Belle were built slowly, over the course of seasons. You had to watch Snow and Charming fight to prove their true love. We weren’t just told they were true love; you saw it.
The final scene between the two in present day was kinda powerful but it also falls on deaf ears at a certain point because I don’t know why I should care.

KeymasterI don’t know guys. It was alright? Maybe better than last week? The charisma of Hades certainly makes up for the fact that the writers are self-plagerizing themselves again (this time from S3B). Zelena had some strong moments but the inconsistent mythology, the poor dialogue, the haunting booth, the slow pace of the entire plot…it bothers. So, it was okay, but not as strong as it could be.
LIKED
–Toto!
–“You’ll hurt me with your book learning??”
–snow in the underworld (because it’s a cold day in Hell?)
–“Who the Hell are you?” Who the hell…that question is more appropriate than you know!”
–“Is the Devil flirting with me?” These two are kinda awesome together
–“We’re regulars at the diner in Hell!”
–Okay we were all right that Hades is bitter against Zeus for his lot in life.
–My enemies became my family”
–HAHAHAHAHA Zelena literally ripped the Scarecrow’s brains out!
MIXED
–The Scarecrow CGI is good but at the same time, the stuff of nightmares!
–Wait wait wait. Does this show have a DEVIL?! Is Lucifer a thing now?! What on….my god. What. WHAT MYTHOLOGY BOOKS ARE THESE PEOPLE READING?! Because Hades is real and the Underworld is real and Olympus is real and apparently the figure we know as the DEVIL is also real??!?! (I’m setting my shiny degrees on fire. I give up)
–Hades’s heart is frozen and needs TLK to break it? This is a thing that can happen? I mean, okay sure. But since when?
–“If you want me to be a different man, I’m sorry. This is who I am.” I need to think about this more. My first instinct was utter disagreement. It’s not really the truth to who Rumple is in the beginning; it is true to the OOC character we know now. I didn’t like it. And it was poorly written. But it wasn’t without merit.
–*Zelena gets on bike* *Hades looks down at his body and has a reaction* UMMMMM. (Yes, yes. Heartbeat) (But still…UMMMMMM)
–The unbelievably torturous dialogue of the “love” scene. “When I was on that bike…with my arms around you!!” Spare me. You’ve known each other for a hot second. It’s not true love. It’s lust or something like it. But the actors are good, so it goes in mixed.
–I honestly don’t know what to do with Hades and Zelena. A romance–a believable one–cannot be built over the course of 20 mins. Ever. It’s silly to think otherwise. So it’s silly and nonsense and I don’t know why I’m supposed to care. But it was sort of heart-string-pulling.
DISLIKED
–How does Zelena recognize Dorothy?
–The munchkins got word to Dorothy….how?
–How does Dorothy know the Scarecrow? And how does the Scarecrow have a brain if the Wizard never gave one to him? And he never met Dorothy and had the proper Oz story?
–Dorothy is powerful because she has the love of the people….the Marxist revolution is going to start any day now on this show, right?
–Hades–a GOD–can’t bring people to the Underworld on his own.
–Stop the hair. My god. Stop the hair.
–Hook insulting Henry’s story. Lay off! They are there saving YOU. Cut him slack, all of you. (Grrr)
–How did Hades get to Oz?
–So basically S5B is a rehash of 3B?? Nonsense. It’s a shame that something promising is just another self-plagerization
