KeymasterThen the show needs to have a conversation with itself and the audience about what justifiable homicide means–because Emma went super dark when she justifiably killed Cruella, as an example. You can’t just say “justifiable homicide” and call it a day. That’s a huge cultural, political, religious, and sociological conversation and OUAT tends to not be very good at those. Plus, if it’s the case that Regina has to take down Zelena “for the good of all” then someone needs to really press A and E what they mean by 1) family show (killing Neal, killing Robin, killing Zelena) and 2) what they mean by hope.

KeymasterEven if it’s not to have Regina turn back to being evil against the Charmings, but to set her against Zelena, how does that show any sort of honest character development?? Didn’t we do this already? Didn’t Regina contemplate ending Zelena back in 4B and decided she didn’t want to; hasn’t she had ample opportunity to kill Zelena and refrained because that’s not who she is anymore. And more to the point didn’t we have several (several!) seasons of seeing what happens to Regina when she loses the man she loves? The only difference here is that she’s not a stable princess, it’s not Snow White, and the man’s name isn’t Daniel.

KeymasterIf not OUAT then Beckett on Castle, but even then….this all is a bit too coincidental, like I said above.

KeymasterMy guess is that Roland will be raised off screen by Regina and Zelena.
I do have to wonder about the wording: “star.” Sean isn’t the star; he’s a secondary actor/character on the show. However, this is too much coincidence to not take seriously. Just yesterday they were shooting in a graveyard and it was a sad scene and everyone was tweeting about RIP Robin, with Larry confirming that OUAT is killing someone.
Yeah I think Robin is biting it. The only other option for OUAT is Zelena.

KeymasterI don’t know if it’s that Rumple doesn’t know or the writers didn’t plan. Because in 5×11 Rumple said that the Underworld was worse than the fire and brimstone we know from tales. That implies that when he was in the Underworld he was in a place that was worse than the Mount Doom we saw in the Fire-Cave. But the Mount Doom is moving on to someplace worse–seemingly forever, for eternal punishment. So Rumple had to be there, in this worse place? Except he came back through the Dark One’s Vault?
It sounds, to me, like the writers are, once again, guilty of lack of world building. They need to save money so they can’t really build an entire set, with heavy CGI, for the Underworld so they use their already built SB set and a red filter. And then they knew they needed a reason for it to look like SB, so Hades and Zelena have something going on

KeymasterSince there is a new blind item that fits into oUAt, this will be fun again.
Yup. Here’s a thread to discuss this new spoiler so we can keep this to filming news

KeymasterWell. Here we go again.

KeymasterLooking back, Robin nearly dying in The Price (5×2) really does seem like heavy foreshadowing of his eventual demise. While Regina and Emma managed to save him temporarily, no price was really ever paid for Emma’s use of dark magic. Perhaps Robin dying now is like a delayed price being collected by Hades.
That makes sense except I have to wonder what prevents everyone from going back down to the Underworld and saving Robin? They clearly don’t care much about consequences–the characters or the writers. What price did Snow and Charming have to pay? Hook’s price for Merlin was (I guess) his death but that’s being undone. So…why can’t they save Robin?

KeymasterThoughts on the second episode?
–So this episode is both great and not so great. It really nails why Gotham is often a frustrating show: because it can’t pick a style and stick with it. This show can be ridiculously campy and funny. You have larger than life iconic characters, like Penguin and Nygma, hamming it up as villains while you have scene chewing from Barnes that is simply poor acting but hilarious to watch because it fits in the over the top comic book depiction of characters that often act outside the parameters of normal humanity. Add to this wonderful one liners from Bullock or Hugo Strange being all manner of trope-tastic “Mad Professor” and you have an episode and a TV show that does’t take it self too seriously. And that’s great! But then you have tortured scenes–like anytime Baby! Batman shows up–or when the show tries to make Jim Gordon into some sort of anti-hero or at the very least a hero with dubious moral lines and it gets bogged down in trying to be serious and heavy and, frankly, this is when Gotham becomes dull and tedious. The opening scene between Lee and Baby! Batman, for example, is one of those where the dialogue is so weighted that it drags down the entire scene. The writers all but have a flashing neon sign above Baby!Batman that he is Future! Batman and he says things that don’t feel organic from the mouth of any teenager. Even one that is Future! Batman. This was a fairly long winded way of me saying that I really enjoyed parts of the episode but any time the show tries to be serious and gritty, it gets dull.
–Selina Kyle what is your purpose on this show? Do you have one? I’m honestly asking because I’m starting to doubt that you have a purpose outside of nostalgia.
–The scene where Strange’s minions strap Penguin into their medical devices and everyone is laughing like crazy villains and Penguin keeps screaming “you are vexing me!”—that’s the camp I’m talking about. That was silly TV but it’s good TV for a show like this.
–“Goose!” “I’m a Penguin.”
–Barbara’s “appearance.” I hope she wakes up even more crazy than she was last arc.
–The visual effects of Mr. Freeze’s gun are still really good.
–This is the first episode that I haven’t felt like the show is actively wasting Donal Logue.
–RIP Mrs. Freeze

KeymasterI still find very odd that this spoiler was let out, i saw someone saying that is odd they let fans take pics, when some weeks ago they filmed there and was forbidden and was private, i mean they had so many secrecy to film Neal scene, why would they kill a main character and let fans spoil that when in previous weeks they didnt let fans even seeing filming
I dunno but this is the same team that filmed out in the open:

2) Neal meeting Mulan and Aurora in the EF
3) Henry being kidnapped by GOAT
4) Everyone getting on a boat to Neverland
5) Rumple killing Pan
6) Hook and Emma going back in time
7) Emma’s sacrficie
