I don’t much expect that Emma and Neal will resolve anything, especially in light of JMo’s recent interviews. Neal died with everything 100% resolved? Seriously? I don’t think ‘resolved’ means what she thinks it means, then.

Yes. What *was* that??? I had read the article about 10x because I was convinced I was missing something vital–or at had lost the ability to understand English.

    It really doesn’t make sense

You will get absolutely no argument from me on anything you wrote.

It almost seems like the cold opening is after the scene where Rumpel gets the potion from Pan. It just seems bizarre. Maybe that isn’t the opening.

    Quote

I think the potion might be given to Emma from Merida, who will get named dropped but not seen. I think Rumple might steal the potion from Emma after the Neal scene, take it to the Hellbrooke shop and try to recreate it to talk to Neal again, or figure out how to bring him back. That’s when Pan comes in and interrupts

I didn’t think Sidney was dead. I thought Ingrid just released him from the mirror?

    Quote

Yup. I have no idea how Sidney is dead, if he even is. It’s possible that his magical mirror abilities can see into the Underworld.

Well after reading Matt article, he does not point he will be seen only in 512, he hints that neal is very much in secret and he can be seen maybe in more episodes, in other ways and even on flashbacks.

It does suggest that MRJ might be back for the finale or something. I don’t know. Guess we’ll have to watch for him. But I can’t imagine that he can come back for a full finale or anything more than a few mins of screentime. NBC is gonna start their hype train for GOS really soon.

Is it at all a possibility that the cold open is something that happens in the future? Or something that won’t make sense until the end of the arc. We haven’t really had a flashforward yet.

The cold opening has everyone wearing their SB outfits that they left in–and without Hook. We have those promo photos of the gang in the graveyard. Given Henry’s reaction and the fact that we’ve been told that finding Hook/saving Hook is going to be far trickier, that only leaves those photos being Neal’s appearance, which takes place upon entering the Underworld given, again, the clothing and Isham’s Instagram picture that “Neal’s Warning” takes places before the main credits.

    From TVLine’s month-old blind item:

As for the on-screen ramifications of the long-gone character’s reappearance, one should expect more than a little drama. His/her timing… could be better, yeah.

I’m not quite sure how to take this. On the one hand, there will surely be drama amongst fans, but this quotation specifically said “on-screen ramifications” … which again, I’m not sure how to interpret it, especially since MRJ’s only appears to have filmed the one scene for 5×12.

    Quote

I think it just means that Neal’s appearance is coming on the heels of Emma trying to save Hook and I’m going to assume that Rumple isn’t exactly thrilled about this. The drama is probably between those two and not Neal and anyone else. I’m wondering if Rumple separates from the group and goes to his shop–where he meets Pan again–in an effort to find some thing that will help everyone save Neal, even though Neal has probably told them not to bother

Right but how else could he be used. Obviously he can’t come back full time due to his other show. So isn’t this one of the few ways they can bring him in for he 100th episode? I’m not sure what else they could do to make it less “cruel” for Neal fans.

    Quote

You really aren’t reading what I’m writing. This has nothing to do with an appearance in the Underworld and that being cruel. It’s what his character is going to do/say while he appears that is cruel. I’ll just repost.

he’s appearing (which makes sense) but he’ll also be forgotten about (not addressed) for the rest of arc. Somehow this reunion will be both a goodbye to Henry (probably, and really the only thing about this that is going to be acceptable and tolerable, for me, at least), a blessing from Neal for CS, and Neal telling everyone that he’s at peace, they don’t need to save him which gives the characters (and writers) license to forget all about him (again) for the rest of the arc/show.

    ^ is cruel.

He could just appear, have a touching goodbye with Henry, talk to his father and try to set him on the right path, and then move on because he’s NOW he’s finished his business. But that’s not what’s happening. Given what we know–it’s a mix of saying goodbye to Henry (and I expect this to be brief and perfunctory); it’ll be a warning, most likely about Hades and the spirits that inhabit the Underworld (and JMo tells us that Neal is not one of them); and, from that, that because Neal is not in the Underworld, he’s at peace, had no unresolved issues, and it’s okay to focus on Hook– thus he can’t be “saved” from the Underworld because he’s not there to begin with. All of which is utter nonsense but it gives the writers free reign for the characters to forget about Neal. That’s cruel

There is nothing cruel about a character returning to a show for it’s 100th episode. He should be there.

Read what I wrote. I didn’t say his return is cruel. In fact, I even said

    he’s appearing (which makes sense)

It’s the way he’s returning/being used. I don’t disagree that he should be there–I disagree with the way he is being used.

–and a little frustrated that even the promotion of this fact seems like an afterthought (if you wanted it to be a big surprise, you don’t confirm it two weeks before…).

The only reason it’s being announced now is because the media finally got screeners at the big celebration. A and E gave permission, never mind the fact that 90+% of the viewership has known for about a month given Isham’s leaked photo, MRJ’s trip to Vancity where he took very open pictures with Sean and Colin, and then TVLine’s Blind Item. He’s still not in the press release or any of the promotional material like promos or photos.

And I’m just going to say it: sure, he’s appearing (which makes sense) but he’ll also be forgotten about (not addressed) for the rest of arc.

I’ll use the word I kept using when this first started leaking: it’s cruel.
