KeymasterSo what sort of somersaults will the writers do when taking us to the Underworld to see the souls of the departed but we neglect to see Neal

KeymasterInteresting that it’s “souls” given that right now we only have one confirmed soul coming back (Cora). Like I said in that thread, be prepared for more big “coming back” announcements like Pan and Cruella and maybe others

KeymasterOn that note, have folks tried to have a sort of “What are you reading now” thread in the “Everything off-topic” category?
Oh feel free. 🙂

KeymasterHowever Theo and Tabby don’t have any depth to them
Theo has some color to him, but Tabby is the worst sort of “sex kitten” cliche there is. She has absolutely no personality except for “sexy” and “brutal.” While that is an okay combination it has to be tempered by something–an interesting backstory, a motivation, a heartbreak. Anything! But she’s really just decoration for her brother’s story. Bothersome on multiple levels. What’s even more troubling is that they’ve turned Barbara into the same sort of decoration for Theo. She started off this season so wonderfully crazy and fascinating, but now she’s reduced to being a prop for both Theo and Tabby to play with.
We have butch who lost his hand and being tortured by Tabitha. (I HATED THAT SO MUCH)
I can be okay with torture as a narrative selling point but I don’t like how it’s being done for comic effect. Pain and torture and psychological breaks can be good drama, but not when the reason behind it is to get a chuckle from your audience–like Tabby whipping Butch or his new mallet hand.
Also I did not like Kristen dying.
I want to see how they handle Ed after Kristen’s death before I decide how I feel about her death. If they sweep it under the rug and make it just relevant for one episode, then it was way too soon–the relationship should have been built more. But if this is the thing that really pushes him to full on villain and we begin to see him seeking out those violent tendencies (mixed with his signature narcissism) then I might be more okay with the abrupt turn around.
So one can think Jerome is very much alive and being tested on so that when he emerge he would have his signature face and look.
Yes I wondered if that’s the route they are going to go.

KeymasterIt seems like the Merida, Mulan and Ruby adventure will likely just be in “The Bear King”, rather than being the full 2 hours we initially believed it would be. The descriptions make these two episodes come across as distinct from one another, rather than being one central story carried over in both. That would be a first for a 2 hour special.
Yeah it’s really two episodes in one night, not a two hour special that is really one episode.

KeymasterWe can go ahead and add ‘Wicked City’ to the list of ABC shows that will get the axe before OUAT this year. It premiered BAD (0.9).
So that’s…Castle, Nashville, Blood and Oil, and Wicked City that will get chopped before OUAT. ABC doesn’t want to lose 5 drama in one year, so it’s more evidence that we’re probably safe for a S6

KeymasterNow I’m just picturing an office version of Hell where Facilier is trying to work his way up from imp to middle-management.
Hah! Actually, have you ever read Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s Good Omens? One of the protagonists is this imp-like character struggling with, among other things, Hell’s outdated and cumbersome bureaucracy. Your comment reminded me of it — highly recommend it, it’s very silly and riotously funny.

(seconds this recommendation)
(recommends anything by Gaiman)
(also Pratchett)

KeymasterNov. 15, two hours: In “Birth,” Hook risks everything to uncover the truth about what Emma did in Camelot.
Odd title if that’s the plot…?
