I have to wonder if they reason they were SO heavy handed, to point of “OMG OK WE GET IT” about setting up all the indisputable signs that Henry and Cinderella are TL is because they don’t want fandom to get any ideas about an alternative and have history repeat itself.

Yup, I think that’s a big part of it. If there’s any possibility of a love triangle in present day (like between Henry, Drizella and Jacinda) then they want to make it crystal clear that it would be more of a David/Katherine/Mary Margaret situation.

Roni’s bar – Why is she called Roni here again?

I think it’s short for Veronica but I’m not sure what significance it has here in the story. The name apparently means “true image” but maybe the writers just struggled to come up with another “queen” name apart from the adapted “Rani” name like @Gaultheria mentioned.

Tremaine says to Henry, “Cinderella must never see that man again. Kill him.” Is she talking about Henry to Henry and it’s just edited strangely?

Also, looking at the calendar…we will probably have two weeks off: Nov 24th and Dec 1 (the 24th cause of American Thanksgiving/Black Friday and the 1st for AoS).

    Yes.

AoS has a two hour premiere that night and then moves to 9pm the following week. My guess is that OUAT airs episode 9 the following week (with AoS moving to 9pm) and then airs its winter finale (episode 10) the next week, Dec 15th

The other thing to keep in mind is something Matt and I said a ton last year–we have to look at the whole board, not just OUAT. ABC is losing Scandal for sure; The Good Doctor is doing decent enough that it got a full season order but their ratings are nothing to write home about. Designated Survivor looks to be 2 seasons and done with its current ratings. Grey’s is still holding strong but HTGAWM is suffering. AoS has the Marvel brand behind it but its ratings weren’t much better than OUAT’s.

In other words….look at the whole board.

Thanks for posting the ratings. I’ve been out of the house most of today and couldn’t get to it.

I find the ratings stuff a bit confusing, but the same site has the season 6 finale down as getting 2.95m viewers, whereas the season 7 premiere had 3.26m – does that not mean that this episode actually performed pretty well?

The demo is more important than the actual number of viewers, specifically the 18-49 age demo. That’s what ad buyers are looking at.

.7 is pretty gross but….Friday makes everything complicated and Inhumans did retain the demo, even though it lost viewers at 9pm.  I suspect it may tick up slightly for next week if they promote it right.

It’ll be interesting to see what ABC *wants* from a Friday show. The previous Friday night show was “Last Man Standing” which got a 1.1 during its final episode. Grimm, the NBC fantasy show on Fridays, got a .8 in its two final seasons. However, I do agree that this is gonna be the final season. TV ratings fall the longer the season goes on; any show that increases in demo ratings/viewers is the exception that proves the rule. The *only* thing I can think of that might save OUAT for a S8 is if Idol totally bombs to the point where ABC cancels the reboot after 1 yr and moves OUAT back to Sunday (but ABC has sunk so much money into the Idol reboot that they’re gonna make it work if they have to burn the rest of the studio to do it)

Idk RG I took the statement about Alice and being connected to someone we know and love as a personal thing. Like people in our life are like Alice and we will grow to love her because of that. I took it to more or less say Alice is gay.

Hm. I see how you’re reading that, yeah. Interesting. I don’t know that the two are mutually exclusive, though? Maybe she’s Rumple/Belle’s kid and gay

[Alice] She’s going to have ties to a few characters. She’s one of the characters we’re really excited about because I think, as the episodes go on, the fans are really going to like her, really like her vibe, and then, when they see the connection she has to people they know and love, I think they’ll be very excited.

    She’s definitely someone’s kid.

Kitsis: What is so much fun is we saw the Wicked Witch pretend she had a cursed character for a little bit in season three as the nanny. This time she is truly under a curse when we meet her, and her introduction and what her cursed persona is is probably one of my favorite introductions on the show.

Zelena’s cursed too? So everyone but Real Hook and Emma decided to be cursed alongside Henry to help him out? Mmkay.
