KeymasterJust a general point here but….
Let’s *try* not to focus the discussion on huge plot points that are much further ahead. I know it’s tempting since all of us have read this series loads, but really vital, mythos changing stuff is probably best left vaguely alluded to instead of stated outright, even with spoiler tags just because this is a huge series and the point of the re-read is take it one chapter, one book at a time. That’s the difference between a re-read project and just discussing the series in a general manner.
(not pointing any fingers or saying that we’re all not to blame…but just to bring it back to HP:SS)
Is Harry’s magical ability really latent? It seems pretty early to me, or at least, right on schedule? For the first ten years of his life, he’s been showing weird signs. He can make his hair re-grow at will, shrink clothes he doesn’t like, or even disappear and reappear on top of his school. That sounds like pretty strong magic for a boy who doesn’t even suspect he could really be a wizard yet.
Perhaps instead of latent we should say unexplored. Most wizarding children Harry’s age would have grown up knowing that they were from a magical family and so the sudden weird things they could do would be understood as magic and would be encouraged or at least celebrated.

KeymasterWell…the gang did find themselves in Camelot during 5×01-5×02. And to give a proper welcoming into the kingdom, King Arthur could have held the Ball.
They drop everything (like looking for Dark Swan Emma) and go to a ball?
And they found themselves in Camelot for 501, back in SB for 502, with Arthur and co. following.
On Once Upon a Time this season, our friends will also attend a society event.
And then it’s followed by this:
The ball will also feature a guest of honor. Although the producers wouldn’t reveal who that would be,
Why in the world would they keep it so secret if the guest of honor is just our cast? They spoiled Rumbelle’s dance pre S4. In other words our friends =/ = guest of honor. I highly doubt that they just drop everything and go attend a ball while they’re supposed to be looking for Emma. It’s much more likely that it’s a flashback.

KeymasterThis…this…this has gotta be the OutlawQueen Dance Scene!!!!!! It explains why Lana Parrilla was working with that choreographer!
That doesn’t really make sense. The ball is at Camelot, which would mean the past. Robin and Regina have only been together in the present SB.

KeymasterThe ball will also feature a guest of honor. Although the producers wouldn’t reveal who that would be, we have a couple of guesses, starting with Prince Charming, whom Josh Dallas revealed would “bro out” with King Arthur. “We’re going to see how their relationship comes to be,” co-creator Adam Horowitz says. Kitsis adds, “I would say it’s a bromance that’s just as special as Arthur and Guinevere.”
Kinda sounds like Snow and Charming went to Camelot at one point for a ball with Arthur and Guinevere. Would explain why Charming and Arthur are bro-ing out this season, if they already know each other.

KeymasterHoly Grail?
Nah, Larry said it’s not the Holy Grail.
ETA: let me put it this way…if it is a holy grail it’s not THE Holy (read: Christain) Grail. I think Slurpeez was right in the title thread for 503…if they do introduce a magical cup it will bear all the properties of The Holy Grail without it ever being called such.

KeymasterWhy do you think Harry never told anyone what was going on at the Dursleys? Did he accept it as a fact of life, assume that’s how every family works? Did he think nobody would believe him? Did he think nobody would care?
I think the bold is exactly why he didn’t tell anyone, like a teacher. Harry’s entire existence in his mind is founded on one basic fact: nobody cares about him. He is never, from what we can tell, given any measure of love, affection, or even a single thought. When he’s in the room, the Dursley’s like to pretend he isn’t there, they talk about him as if he is a nonentity; when they do need to speak to him, it is never with any kindness, but always with anger, resentment, and annoyance that he dare to need something. It has been enforced him from as long as he can remember that speaking up, voicing anything, is met with being ignored at least and verbal abuse at most.
I think he knows that this isn’t how a family should work. The Dursley’s aren’t mean or cruel to any other children, like their own son, or even to Dudley’s friends, like Piers. All their vitriol is focused on Harry.

KeymasterJust imagining this scene is quite funny. Like a cartoon fight between a cat and dog. The whole chapter has that Tom and Jerry feel about it.
Tom and Jerry. That’s it. Slapstick comedy. One wonders if JKR ever watched Monty Python with their cheeky and clever (and often strange) slapstick comedy. (of course she did. She’s British. All British people are required, by law, to watch Monty Python’s Flying Circus)
