KeymasterHe’s the Author, with or without the quill. Isaac didn’t have one for years when he was trapped in the book. But it’s not like he has any special powers, though.
Can he do anything as the new Author without the quill? is it just an empty title now?

KeymasterUnpopular opinion here, but I think they should’ve just killed him off.
Not unpopular; I’ve been saying it all season. And I’m RumplesGirl.
I do not like the way this was done at all. It’s cheating. He has to EARN redemption, not get darkness sucked out of him. It’s unfair for the likes of Regina who had to work for redemption, and still struggles.
Should have known that Adam and Eddy would just pull a handwave, and poof…he’s redeemed! Why not just suck the darkness out of everyone’s hearts then?????
Exactly. It was so hand wavey.

KeymasterRegina and even Hook were miserable….it’d have been better if it was just flat out said Rumple was only in it for himself.
Yes it wasn’t the villains winning, it was Rumple winning.

KeymasterMorgan le Fay is totally going to be the Black Fairy now.
Agreed.

KeymasterWell. Here we are. The last page. So to speak. I hope everyone enjoyed the finale and had a good year overall.
I will say this: I *adored* the first half. Loved it. It felt magical and momentous and organic and it felt absolutely like the show I had fallen in love with all those years ago. I did not like the second half, apart from a few scenes. The second half felt sloppy, rushed, and full of moments that made my stomach turn. I guess, overall, that evens out.
LIKED
–HENRY. I LOVE YOU. Please Adam and Eddy: give him more to do! Jared was excellent and the way Henry outsmarted and became his own hero was wonderful to behold.
–Dark Snow might be my new favorite thing
–Bandit Regina did amazingly as the “Snow” version of herself.
–Rumple the White Knight. Adore
–Henry. Did I mention him yet?
–Adam and Eddy are the Author. It’s so meta and self aware. I mean, really: #NoSpoilers
–At least we know who the Sorcerer is now. It’s good to know. I’m not quite sure how I feel about it yet.
–Good “dark one” graphics
–The dragon was pretty cool
–GREAT sword fight between Rumple and Emma
–Loved all the costuming
–The Belle and Rumple scene at the end
–Henry being the new Author. It makes ALL THE SENSE
–Dark Dwarves.
MIXED
–Henry asking the Apprentice if he could use the pen to bring back Neal. On the one hand, I cried a lot because it’s about TIME Henry finally talked about how much he misses his dad. But on the other, it was rather heartless for the writers to bring up Hook’s non existent death in that moment and compare it. From a purely fandom perspective, that’s…going to create waves. People can talk about how Hook wasn’t really dead since it was in a book and thus doesn’t fall into “dead is dead” (and I get the argument) but, again, from a fandom perspective, it’s only going to make matters worse. And in a lot of ways, it felt like the final slap that we can’t let Neal’s sacrifice be in vain (to quote Emma last season) but Hook’s sacrifice can be reversed and Emma is even begging for it to happen. I’m not even asking for SF….sail on CS, go be true love. I’m asking for Henry to have his father back. (and yes, from the actor standpoint, it’s not going to happen, I KNOW THIS. But…yeah. Complicated emotions are complicated, hence why it’s going in mixed)
–Not enough Belle. I got no sense of who she is in this reality. She’s just a prop at this point, no matter what reality. However, Emilie does her job well.
DISLIKED
–EXCUSE YOU. NEAL TAUGHT HENRY HOW TO SAIL.
–The second half was all about the ships. Shocking! I am so over this story being based around ships and romantic love. The first half felt so ONCE-y because it was about family love.
–Regina as the Savior felt like a cheat
–Mal doesn’t know who the father of Lily is cause it was done in dragon form. Oh my god even just writing that sentence.
–What is the POINT of Will Scarlett? Seriously. WHAT WAS THE POINT
–Did not need Zelena. Never need Zelena. Go away.
–The absolute hand wavey-ness of Rumple’s redemption. NO. I wanted him to work for it. To earn it, like everyone else!

KeymasterYes you are my shiny happy. lol
Happy Sunday. Ignore the fandom. When is there NOT a war? I certainly can’t remember a time when this fandom was yelling at each other.
Happy finale night for those of us who watch.

KeymasterNeal’s death was created by the ink and pen, however. It had nothing to do with something being written in the book. And to our knowledge, Neal’s death was never recorded in the book, thus while Isaac’s statement is intriguing it has little to nothing to do with Neal.
Unless the events of the missing year in the EF are recorded somewhere, somehow, in some book. Plus, there’s always Nyx. Who knows? I may be way off, but still, one can dream.
Of course one can. It’s what I said a page back:
Idon’t really think that anyone was really under the belief that the Author could suddenly change/break the laws of magic. It’s more that the rules that the Onciverse operate under are incredibly…non existent. Or rather, they exist but there are a million loopholes, usually centered around a plot device that suddenly and inexplicably allows a character to break a rule that was heretofore unbreakable for no other reason than that the out-of-story show runners want it to be broken. A magical pen that can change memories and situations and apparently even history (in which Regina is not the EQ and Snow loved James and in this case that Bae died as a young boy but being proud of his papa) is keeping with the Onceiverse’s aversion to strict laws of magic and their own world building while simultaneously speaking to its ability to embrace plot devices as way to change what the show runners desire, willy nilly style.
The writers could literally create any loophole they wanted because their magical world is so flimsy and unstructed. But—come on—have many times have we said this: there is always a way, there is no *will*

KeymasterHowever, what I don’t get is how something so important as Isaac saying that a quill & ink can, in fact, change the past it has created can be overlooked and discounted so easily.
Neal’s death was NOT created by the ink and pen, however. It had nothing to do with something being written in the book. And to our knowledge, Neal’s death was never recorded in the book, thus while Isaac’s statement is intriguing it has little to nothing to do with Neal.
ETA: Furthermore at the time of Neal’s death the Author was trapped in the book, having only recorded up to the Curse. He was unable to influence or change anything as his role as author. And we know there can only be one at a time.
