I’ve had this conversation with other people who watch the show as well, so I think it’s interesting we’ve never discussed it before. I’ve always thought of it as, it’s not necessarily the *magic* itself that has a price. More that the motive behind the magic does. In high school I went through a “alternative religion” phase, and read books about wicca, etc. And there is something called the “rule of 3”: it essentially states that whatever magic acts you do, will come back to you threefold. See also in other beliefs: treat others as you would like to be treated, be careful what you wish for, the energy you put out into the “universe” will come back to you, etc. There are many different versions of it for any walk of life. I don’t think it’s necessarily every little piece of magic that has a price.
In regards to your question: Faeries in Once tend to do magic for *others*, not for their own means, similar to Rumple’s deals. He often reminds people that magic comes with a price, and it’s *their* price, not his for actually performing the magical act. I suppose that if they did perform magic for themselves, or for selfish reasons, that it’s very likely that they would pay a price for it.

Agreed x 10000. How will it change them?? Will it change them??
^THIS. All of the above. I so can’t wait to find out about him.

runaroundmacyParticipantInteresting theory, Slurpeez! I really like that idea that PP is somehow involved in the Ogre’s War. It definitely creates this idea that he’s been around and manipulating worlds for centuries, and not just our own either, which makes him even creepier to me.
Side note: In regards to stealing children, there is a part of me that wonders if maybe PP thinks he’s doing them a favor? Who wouldn’t want to go to a land with no adults, with magic and no one to tell you what to do! Wendy was obviously excited to go, until she got there and was faced with reality. I definitely think that is his ploy to lure them, but what if he honestly doesn’t understand why anyone would want to leave?

runaroundmacyParticipantNo matter what the story, or how old she is, or who Ursula is… I’m just really excited to see Ariel finally! Her and Belle were always my favorites growing up. I have faith in A&E so I have a feeling I’ll be OK with any way they spin it although I definitely want references to dinglehoppers and poor unfortunate souls. And a cavern of human things. And a scene on a rock with the waves crashing around her. But that’s not too much to ask right?

runaroundmacyParticipantEdit: Should have quoted RG on this one
Yay! As soon I it occured to me I had the same reaction. It keeps Eric in the story, but not necessarily in the way we think. Maybe he was kind of a jerk? I mean, he was pretty quick to fall in love with an evil seawitch in disguise, that always bothered me. Plus it gives Ariel some backstory that would fit within the timeline we already know, but gives opportunities to write a new tale for her (pun intended). And they’re not cornered to make her very young, and I think it would give her character a bit of depth.
I’m so proud that I actually had a coherent theory for once.

runaroundmacyParticipantUrsula’s one of my favorites, but I am slowly starting to warm to the idea of Regina taking that role (even with Rumple’s help). It would simplify the storyline and answer questions from previous seasons, as well as give some more Evil Queen moments. Plus, we all can admit that Lana Parilla would ROCK that role, and she has said that Ursula is one of her faves and she would love to play her.
A thought did just occur to me in regards to the original tale, versus the Disney version and then Once’s twist. I think it would be quite interesting if Prince Eric did exist in the tale *in flashbacks*. Ariel made a deal with Urusla/Rumple/Regina in order to become human, but Eric *does* fall in love and marry someone else, keeping with Anderson’s original story. Instead of turning into sea foam, there is some other consequence, ie. no voice, stay a human, return to being a mermaid, banished to Neverland, etc. And maybe she doesn’t like humans anymore. Maybe she’s not necessarily going to be the most helpful to our heroes at first. Maybe she’s a little bitter at the circumstances she was left with. Not to say that she’s evil mind you, just maybe not the kind, innocent girl we all know. She’s a little bit more grown up now, and she’s loved and lost. And maybe it takes someone to make her change her mind… a handsome, charming, swaggering pirate that has also loved before, and thought he would never love again?

runaroundmacyParticipantI just read an amazing fan theory on Tumblr about the surprise connection between Tink and a character who was on stage on Comic-Con 2013.
Tinkerbell as Belle’s Mother Theory Reasons
- Original tale, Beauty’s real mother was fairy.
- Blue eyes.
- Same accents.
- Tinkerbell = Belle
- We know nothing about her mother.
- RC said we would see Belle in Neverland, but in a way we would never expect (mirrors and dreams are the way we expect it right?)
- A&E said there is surprising connection
- Rumple said Belle is a “flicker of light,” Tinkerbell is shown to glow or to look like a light.
- Fairies can love, ex. Nova. Blue Fairy just says they can’t, doesn’t make it true.
- Belle used fairy dust to restore Phillip. If anyone use fairy dust like that what does it mean?
I can sort of almost kind of get behind this? There’s enough to make you really consider it as a possibility, that’s for sure. Very interesting theory!
HE – Belle used fairy dust on Philip to change him back into a human. Somebody help me on that episode name?

runaroundmacyParticipant“For Once Upon A Time episode 3.01 and recurring in several episodes, the roles of Rufio and Thief are being cast. Rufio is in his teens, and is a mischievous and devious Lost Boy, and the Thief is in his 30s and steals magic from Rumpelstiltskin in order to save someone he loves.”
But I do believe that ‘Rufio’ is code for ‘Peter’
[/quote]I agree. BUT, I will say that if it *is* PP, they should have used a better code name. Rufio made every fan automatically think of PP. Every other major character we’ve dissected the language origins of their names, or the meaning of the flower they were named for, etc. and we were still wrong sometimes! I still think it’s PP, but maybe we’re just too smart?

runaroundmacyParticipanteven in thinking that over for the last few minutes, it doesn’t make any sense. like i said, it’s a total crack theory. i’m putting it back on the burner to simmer for a while.

runaroundmacyParticipantIt’s by no means an original theory, just a way to add some actual reference points to PP stories the are floating around that could be used somewhat in S3. My theory right now is super jumbled in my head, and I’ve been working on it but can’t quite get it to make sense to me, much less to anybody I would share it with. Especially now with Tink supposedly showing up in Ep3. Maybe in SB, maybe not? I usually try to work them out with my BF (boyfriend, not Blue Fairy), but he usually just looks at me and says “are you talking about that show AGAIN? you need a hobby”
My crack theory I’m toying around with lately is: what if Tink’s losing her memory? The lack of belief and her diminishing powers are slowly beginning to wear on her. And somehow she got stuck in SB (since magical creatures can apparently find it)? Which would lead to the HO coming after her there, AND the reason that PP has been searching for Henry? It sounds crazy, but if she IS dying, then why would she be a spy for the HO in SB? And if she isn’t then either NL isn’t connected to her powers or there’s something else motivating them both. (I’m still not sold on the shadow ripping being part of keeping PP immortal, I tend to think NL has it’s own magic and it’s self-sustainable to an extent, but I can see how that might work) But if she is in SB, and she and Blue know each other, I can’t see how BF wouldn’t have noticed her there since the Curse was broken.
See? Too many holes.
