I’m just getting this niggling feeling that Neal and Snowing sent Hook there. I don’t know why or how, but I get that feeling. At least we got a hug at the end. *so full of emotion*
Of course Neal sent Hook! Emma didn’t show up for “lunch”, so he must think she chose Hook, and he said he wouldn’t bother her anymore. I will say I was disappointed with Emma’s goodbye to Neal, but it actually makes me surprisingly hopeful. The more they try to downplay Swanfire, the more I think that is the ultimate endgame. I don’t think Hook is going to be able to get help her get her memories back without some sort of magical help.. hint.. (cant remember how to do spoilers) TLK only works if: a) you were in love before you lost your memories b) that person can make you fall in love again c) you were *both* in love at the same time

runaroundmacyParticipant“Charlie’s Girl” was playing, same as it was for Neal I’m getting sick all ready of the CS parallels and the episode has only been over for a half hour. I find it bad writing, too. I just don’t see chemistry between them. CaptainFairy actually had it coming out the wazoo…even if you don’t ship it, it was strong. But I just don’t get that spark with Emma and Hook and I’m glad I have you guys because sometimes I wonder what I’m missing that the rest of fandom sees. I’m just getting this niggling feeling that Neal and Snowing sent Hook there. I don’t know why or how, but I get that feeling. At least we got a hug at the end. *so full of emotion*
Of course Neal sent Hook! Emma didn’t show up for “lunch”, so he obviously must think that she didn’t go because she has feelings for Hook. Classic romantic storytelling! He must think that since Emma chose Hook, Hook must be the one to go back and find her to save them all. If only Emma had taken her moment to be happy.
I will say I was really disappointed with the way Emma said goodbye to Neal, BUT that actually makes me more hopeful. It sounds weird, but the more they try to downplay Swanfire, the more I think they’re trying to get the viewers to root for them.

runaroundmacyParticipantSorry if this is repeated, but just want to lay it out there. The kiss really put everyone into a tailspin. I guess since it was spicy and hyped up so much by the media. But I really can’t imagine Emma falling for Hook even after that kiss. The whole episode felt a bit off since we barely got to mutual respect between Emma and Hook and all of a sudden Hook leers at Emma trying to catch her eye oh-so obviously. I just can’t buy it. There was no gradual build up, and yet I hear CS shippers claim it was there since Tallahassee. Perhaps on Hooks part (but he was basically doing that to all the ladies) but certainly not Emma. She barely tolerated him back then. (She bashed him over the head with a trash can for crying out loud) She is starting to respect him now but falling in love? Hell no. It’s waayyy to soon for that.
I don’t post very often anymore either but this is EXACTLY what I felt after the last episode. I was SO looking forward to Hook’s back story, and it honestly kind of fell flat for me. It seemed like there was an episode missing in regards to character growth for all the characters. Suddenly, Emma wasn’t just rolling her eyes at Hook’s comments, but enjoying them. There was no “gradual build up” as there usually is with romantic moments like this. And suddenly, Regina and Emma are referring to Henry as “he’s our son, and we love him and we’ll do whatever it takes.” And Charming, lying to his family about the poison, and suddenly he’s giving Hook the credit for saving him? I honestly felt like I’d missed something! I’ve rewatched a couple times since and it’s no longer a shock, but it still seems out of joint for all these characters to change their stance so soon on things from one episode to another, like there should have been something in between to show them changing towards each other. There had been moments, for sure, but nothing to lead me to believe that these were genuine feelings for all of them.
Biggest complaint from CS is that Neal didn’t sought Emma out. But according to Adam and Eddy “It’s been so long that he thought that his chance with Emma has past. And that she would never forgive him.” That makes Neal very human, to be afraid and to make mistakes. People forget that he’s ALSO been ABANDONED and rejected. Not just Emma. (Will no one think of Neal?) He was abandoned not once, not twice, but THREE times. By his mother, father, AND Hook. And it wasn’t out of love like the Charmings. Each one of those times that he was rejected was because of self-serving reason. (His mother running away with another man. His father choosing power over him. And Hook, not liking his answer to keep him on the ship.) I guess having Emma (The Love of his life) potentially reject him as well, would be too much to bear. How could Emma possibly forgive him, if he didn’t think he could forgive himself?
The abandonment issues here between both characters are what makes this such an amazingly romantic story for me. It reminds me of the quote from The Perks of Being a Wallflower: “We accept the love we think we deserve”. I don’t think Neal ever thought he deserved Emma, always half expected that she would leave him (a la Rumple and Belle) and thus never thought she’d forgive him, and didn’t go after her. He accepted Tamara, because he felt like she could be his last hope for happiness, even if it wasn’t what he truly wanted.
My wishlist is to see a Nealfire centric episode. I don’t really count Nasty Habits because it was more of Rumple’s struggle then Bae’s. I’m not sure if there was any spoilers on this, but I desperately want a Nealfire story with NO Rumple in it. Perhaps his stint in Neverland or aftermath when he escaped. Everyone else got their centric episodes. I want Nealfire to get his. I’m also anxiously waiting for Neal and Hook’s confrontation. How will they both react to one another after all these years? We know it’s bound to happen. I just hope the writers make it epic.
THIS! One of the many CS arguments that SF isn’t true love, is that Neal is simply a plot device for all the other characters since he has no story of his own. All the other characters have had their own story lines without him, or about/for him, so he obviously must not be important except to stand in the way of other characters happiness. I see this in quite the opposite way: His story is *central* to all the other characters, he is the one that brings them all together! And without him, we wouldn’t have this show. Rumple wouldn’t have become the Dark One, he wouldn’t have manipulated Regina into being the Evil Queen and casting the curse, which led to Snow and Charming sending Emma through the wardrobe, to Emma being in the foster care system, and eventually finding Neal to fall in love with and having Henry. How can anyone say he’s not important? And I think that being in Neverland and having to face his past will prove to everyone how important he is, and how strong of a person he truly is. He’s facing all of his fears in order to find Emma, even if she doesn’t accept him. I can not see how his story wouldn’t have a happy ending, when all he ever wanted was a happy ending for everyone he’s ever known.

October 14, 2013 at 2:11 pm in reply to: 3×03 “Quite a Common Fairy” FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS #215796runaroundmacyParticipantI LOVED this episode!!! Everybody has already listed all of my favorite parts except for the conversation Regina and Emma had in the jungle. Regina knowing Tinkerbell wouldn’t help them if she saw her, and being willing to let everyone go on without her if it would save Henry.
“Operation Henry. That’s what I’m calling it in my head”
FEELS! Literally brought tears to my eyes. Regina is truly changing, and I’m so excited for her arc this season. And I don’t think I’ve ever said that. I’m really rooting for her to find love and happiness this season.

runaroundmacyParticipantI’m back home on the west coast so a bit delayed. I can’t find the tweet now, but during the last #AskGinny, someone asked her what mythical creature she would most like to see on the show and her answer was the pheonix. Coincidence?

runaroundmacyParticipantIts possible but highly unlikely. I love my little crack through though.

runaroundmacyParticipantAnd what if Henry’s birthday is August 15th? Born on 8/15 at 8:15! I would love that
Edit: and yeah, I know the math and the t word don’t line up. It would be cool though.

runaroundmacyParticipantHere’s what I’d like to see:
– EVERYONE is happy: the characters AND the fandom. This show is all about hope and happy endings and I don’t care how that happens or who ends up with who, as long as it’s written in a way that makes me believe that this is HEA. All that matters is, Emma has the family she always wanted and the family is together (possibly with Snowing children).
– the last scene starts off on a silhouette of a hooded figure, in a room, writing in a book in candlelight. Close up on the quill as it writes “And they lived happily ever after…” The camera pans out, and the hooded character removes their hood, and reveals their identity. They close the book, and blow out a candle. Camera goes to black and the screen says “THE END.”

Mulan: I have a question…
Neal: I don’t know how to explain movies…
I LOVE that Neal is the one to bring the “growing up in the real world” sort of levity to the show. I know Emma has sort of had comments about it, but it makes me wonder if he actually started watching “fairy tale” movies because it reminded him of home!
