Well, I believe the unveiling of the dagger drawing was not so much to let him know his dad is in SB, but to convince him to leave Emma. The post card that would tell him the curse was broked was promised so Neil/Bae would be able to come to Storybrooke to be with his true love, Emma. After all, the reason Neil/Bae turned Emma in and “abandoned” her was to allow her to proceed to be the “savior” and break the curse his father enacted, which he would agree would be a greater good. I don’t believe Neil/Bae is interested in finding his father, he just wants to be with Emma.

I voted for Rumple wooing Belle resulting in her falling in love with him all over again. Then they share true love’s kiss. After all, True Love is the most powerful magic of all.

oooooo! More evidence showing that Neil/Bae was in neverland – which is how he stayed so young.

This leads me to another thought. What if Bae ended up in our world, ran across Jefferson, told Jefferson his tale, Jefferson knew of the curse and what would cause it to break, then portal-hopped him to neverland, then brought him back while he was still a boy where he grew up and was the “proper” age when he met Emma.

I believe what August showed Neil in his box is the drawing of the dagger. We saw the drawing when Rumple searched August’s room. We didn’t see what Neil saw in the box because it would have given away that Neil is Bae. Bae would be very familiar with this dagger since he and his father – Rumple – talked about it at length while looking at it in “The Return”. Seeing this drawing completely convinced Neil/Bae that he had to listen to August. Somehow this means August knew this would be the only way that Neil/Bae would believe. August probably got this drawing and the knowledge how to find Bae from the Blue Fairy, who I believe also created the fairy tail book for Henry.

I’m thinking the reason Cora suspected there was magic in SB was due to Emma and Snow’s appearance in FTL – what was left of it. Adding to that suspicion is when Cora tried to get Emma’s heart, she was unable to get it and instead was repelled, surprising Cora. In addition there was her education in Rumple’s curse before he turned to Regina, which she knew about, probably more than Rumple.

Cora seems a bit savvy and is able to connect the dots easily, even when they are not apparent to anyone else.

I find it interesting that Rumple is “afraid” of Cora, even though he denies it.

All this discussion about parents and grandparents have gotten me to visualize a precarious scenario for Henry.
Let’s say that Neil is Bae and also Henry’s father. This would make Rumple/Gold Henry’s grandfather. Neil/Bae’s reappearance will have a complicated relationship with both Rumple/Gold and Emma. We already know Snow and Charming are Emma’s parents, and Henry’s biological grandparents. Emma is of course, Henry’s biological mother. Cora, as Regina’s mother – who adopted Henry – thereby being legally Henry’s mother and now Cora is leagally Henry’s grandmother.

    ergo:
    Snow and Charming –> Emma

    > Henry
    Rumple/Gold

    > Neil/Bae

    > Henry
    Cora

    > Regina

    > Henry

This would result in all 7 believing Henry belongs to him/her, resulting in many conflicts between all the adults seriously affecting Henry. This doesn’t account for Hook – who may consider Henry as a hostage to get to Rumple/Gold.

I think when they said “explosive” they were using it figuratively – as in a dramatic shock/major surprise.
