SaraTheHLessParticipant
I couldn’t see the two being switched (too much physical resemblance, though I guess it could be explained somehow) but, how about their respective fates in “the book”? Perhaps Emma got Mal’s daughter’s fate and visa versa and THAT, rather than the dark curse (which Emma is supposed to have escaped) is why Emma’s past was as troubled as it was?

SaraTheHLessParticipantIs the Will/Ana happy ending ruined, though? I remember feeling as bewildered when they got back together in OUATIW as some are about Will/Belle now because, though I do believe Ana is capable of redemption – eventually (her biggest known transgressions are pretty minor by OUAT standards), I saw little evidence for change in the show. There was a lot of good talk and a lot of consequential suffering after ditching Jafar but, to me, her actions didn’t look so much like those of someone stepping up as they did of someone still running from a situation that didn’t go according to plan (and who wouldn’t be running as fast as they could from the likes of Jafar?). Particularly considering what Jabberwocky said about Ana’s fear of people finding out exactly who she is, I was lead to think it couldn’t be so easy for them and that there was more in store for her character. There’s always more to the fairytales in this show, isn’t there? As a fan of both, I want to see more of that process for Ana.
I like the new pairing. I anticipated it being at least a friendship-with-implications based on the literature but, I don’t anticipate it being endgame. Like the Will/Ana reunion, it’s too fast with too little to back it up. At the end of OUATIW we got a scene set most likely several years after these current OUAT S4 events where it’s implied they’re back together and King and Queen, ect. Adam and Eddy have said they’re interested in having Emma Rigby on the main show. So, why should this latest negate Will/Ana’s happy ending? Isn’t it more likely a set-up to (eventually) provide the story leading up to that flash-forward scene at the end of OUATIW?
I don’t know about you guys but, I’d really like to find out “exactly who she(Ana) is”. I think it’s interesting that we’ve got Mal (who resurrects repeatedly) in OUAT and Anastasia (whom the Nyx felt was meant for resurrection where Amara was not) in OUATIW. If/how the two could be connected, given the timeline, is anyone’s guess, though.

SaraTheHLessParticipantOkay, runaway idea(s)…
Perhaps in addition to Regina/Mal backstory in “Enter The Dragon”, we get more information about “the dragon” character that Tamara took out in Hong Kong…and perhaps some tie to the “Home Office” she was working for at the time…which could tie into Lily’s role (if she’s Tigerlily)…?
Or, maybe I’d better stop before I make myself dizzy.

SaraTheHLessParticipantWe’re on page 5 and no one has asked the most important question of them all? How will she be related to Henry?!
I’m throwing down my crack theory that she’s related to Will, instead… she definitely looks more like Colin in the eyes, though.
There’s also a live-action Cinderella (March 2015) and the live-action Alice Through the Looking Glass (May, 2015) in the works so I can see putting off bringing in more OUATIW characters until 5B to coincide with those releases but, I really hope it doesn’t take that long.

SaraTheHLessParticipantI’m thinking maybe Wonderland happened much after where we are currently in Storybrooke.
Unless they are planning to break their canon, WL took place during S2 of ONCE.
“Obviously for people who watched [Once Upon a Time in] Wonderland, they are like, “Wait, he had his happy ending. He went off with the Red Queen.” We are going to tell that story, what happened and what brought him back to Storybrooke. And that will probably be in the later half in the season, and it will be done in a way that if you’ve never seen Wonderland, we’re going to fill in the blanks.”

SaraTheHLessParticipantThe illustration is definitely the Red Queen. They may have used the wrong book for Emma to hold up, but I’d say that’s just because the general audience are more likely to instantly associate with Alice In Wonderland as opposed to Through The Looking Glass. The illustration is based on illustrations from Through The Looking Glass.
I love the pictures, Phee! Thanks, my copy isn’t illustrated.
But, I’m still thinking Ana’s not the likeliest character to be dead. She’s just got so much story potential left, with her ties to Ashley and backstory with how she met Will, how she learned about the looking glass, ect. whereas, apart from her deceased mother, Alice’s story has been generally explained and concluded. Personal favoritism aside, if I was going to make trouble for Will by killing someone, I’d kill Alice cause (unless she turns out to be the writer as some have speculated) she’s not as useful to the OUAT universe. That said, I really hope neither of them are and that both of them join the show some time soon.
Who knows? Will can be homesick, either way.
I’m a bit more concerned about Will getting maimed than those two being permanently separated, with the title for 4×10 and all this violence with Hook…

October 21, 2014 at 12:33 am in reply to: FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS from this episode 4X04 THE APPRENTICE #286551SaraTheHLessParticipantFavorite Things:
– “A long time ago…” (in a galaxy far, far away?) Was it just me or did Apprentice vs. Zoso feel a bit Jedi-like?
– “Is that just the corset? Where’s the rest of it?” – Elsa Also, David before and especially after the date was just perfect.
– The Knave sure is stepping up his drinking habits from a pub and a beer to this restaurant and whiskey.
-Some cute, clever moments between Emma and Hook like the Graham parallel (only, Graham never misses), acknowledging the age gap, ect.
-The Knave outside the library. Talking to the library door, the “That’s what I say” when Hook says his “bloody hell”, it all made me grin.
-Rumple pouting, “We had a deal.” Anna is perfect and it was fun to see the old Rumple.
-The old man apprentice character (Mickey?) and the Fantasia references, like the sassy marching broom.
– THE RADIO BROADCAST: “Current temps in Storybrooke are near 70’s in mid-town, dropping to low 30’s out by the ice wall…Granny’s Diner: It’s better than you remember. Alright, we’ve got a request here from Mr. Rip Van Winkle who’s looking for something classic to wake up to.” This broadcast was the Hook’s cell phone moment of this episode, for me. I just loved it.
-Belle calling Emma on that relic of a phone because Will is passed-out drunk and cuddling a book. First the Polaroid camera, now that phone; it’s starting to feel like a time-warp in Storybrooke.
– Liking where things are going with the hat so far.
– Sven doesn’t want carrots. That reindeer is brilliant. Sniffing around like “You smell of lies!”, he totally stole the scene.
– The hand only gave Hook permission….seems like Gold got Hook to show his (non-literal) hand by bluffing the whole time.
-The book….oh, mercy. I saw it coming but, that still stabbed me right in the heart. Everyone’s still alive though, as far as we know so, it goes on the positives side. Lots of Alice references with what felt like a couple nods to the trial in the Lewis Carol book. “Doesn’t mean a thing.” “Must’ve been some party, eh?”
-Ending on another possible Star Wars nod, Sarah Fisher —> Princess Fisher —-> Carrie Fisher —-> Princess Leia? (If so, they’re recycling. Maybe a nod to DQ having some part in Emma’s past?)
These, maybe not so much:
– I’m not sure I buy Hook wanting his hand back so badly he’s turned to blackmail to get it back. Also, there’s a lot of the pot calling the kettle black between he and Rumple. Oh, and these death threats and violent acts against the Knave have got to stop.
– I don’t get what was so alarming about the hand during the goodnight kiss. They both seemed spooked afterwards. Was it gonna rip out her heart or what? Ugh, cursed hand or no, why is this episode making me feel like Hook’s so darn threatening all of a sudden?

SaraTheHLessParticipantMaybe I am reading too much into things (but around here that is probably fine). The red queen is NOT a character in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, that book features the Queen of Hearts, as it uses a deck of cards theme. It is Through the Looking Glass, the sequel that features the Red Queen, as well as features the White King and Queen in a chess theme. Ok back on topic, I really hope that they haven’t killed off Ana and I don’t think they would as this would destory the happy ending and would contradict the epilogue material of Wonderland.
I agree that the illustration probably isn’t the Red Queen. I think Ana is fine, for the time being. The White Queen may have been mentioned in the Victorian England version of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland that Alice herself wrote but, I don’t think that would be the version the writers would reference in OUAT because they’ve said they’re going to tell a story that doesn’t require prior knowledge of what’s happened in OUATIW. So, for now, I’m assuming the book is the version found in our world and has no Red Queen. I’m still waiting to see a high res shot of the page but, from what I can make out, it doesn’t really look like Ana either, especially given how much the illustration at the end of OUATIW resembled her.
It’s probably a stretch but, I think the illustration resembles Cyrus’ genie bottle more than it does a particular person. Also, considering the Lewis Carol source material, I think it’s far more likely something tragic has happened to Alice post-OUATIW, than Anastasia. It’s deliberately ambiguous; they’re not telling us anything concrete yet. I’m sort-of reading it as we may not have seen the last of Jafar (because of the bottle thing) or maybe Cora (if the illustration is of the Queen of Hearts).

SaraTheHLessParticipantGlad we’re finally gonna see Sidney let out of his dungeon. By the sound of it he’ll have more than that one appearance if Regina’s recruiting him.
I sure hope so. I’ve missed Sidney. Sure, he murdered the man who set him free but, I still felt bad for him in S1. I know they’re making Regina seem a bit nefarious by letting him out (really, the nefarious bit was shutting him in there for so long) but, I’m kind of hoping that a reformed Regina will treat Sidney a bit better.

SaraTheHLessParticipantI don’t believe I was here for the last Love Day. Can anyone fill me in on how it works?
