What do you think magic is a special ability or it is a learnable thing?
Because Emma was born with magical abilities, but Cora and Regina learned the magic.
So anyone can learn magic in Storybrooke or in the Enchanted Forest?
I think a person needs to have magical essence in them in order to learn or cultivate their magic. Rumple could see that Cora, Regina & Emma have it. Perhaps Charming & Snow have a touch of magic too based on their psychic connection. Perhaps everyone from EF does, they just don’t realize it.
I was just thinking about this yesterday when watching WL and while watching a Christmas movie called “Christmas Spirit”. Amara saw the magical essence in Jafar, therefore she was intrigued by him as a child and didn’t kill/harm him in the street. “Christmas Spirit” was about a woman, a writter, who had a magical essence, the Christmas Spirit, that she was able to use to help the citizens of her town out of their financial troubles while she was in a coma. Her neighbor lady was the only one who could see the writter, told her that the gift was special, and helped guide the writter on her journey to back to the living. Otherwise the writter was just an ordinary person in the real world.

By the way, it wouldn’t necessarily have to be men looking for a heart, brain, courage. And, remember, in the end, the wizard reminds them that they’ve had those traits all along.
Off topic, since this is a Hook thread. Did Hook have his hook in the New York scenes? And if not, what would that imply?
No, Hook has his fake hand on in the NY scenes. You can see him wearing it in 3×11 as well as in the spoiler pics for 3×12. Course that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have it hidden in his coat just in case he needs it.

I like the fact that Pan and Felix were ready to cast the curse in a few hours whereas it took Regina several months to get everything ready.
I can’t help but feel sorry for Felix, his fate was sealed the moment PanHenry broke him out of jail, then Pan lied to him, made him get the ingredients to his own demise then killed him.
Maybe Regina kept good notes on how she perfected the curse which helped speed up the processing time. 🙂

When/Where was there a reference to a Mr. K? Can someone give me the line that was said about him? O.o

In “True North”, Mr K (Krzyszkowski) was the thin, grey haired, stern guy at the Hall of Records where Emma was retrieving birth certificates for Ava & Nicholas and she had to complete forms in triplicate to get them. But the documents were already removed by Regina.
It would be fitting that Santa Clause’s cursed self would be thin and unjollly. His last name looks like it could be Russian or Polish now that I’m thinking about it.
I forgot about the fact that L. Frank Baum, who wrote the Oz books, also wrote “The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus”. So there’s another OZ reference. Hehe

Speaking of which, where did Pan get the hairs from these evil doers along with all the other ingredients needed to re-create the curse? Did he steal them from Gold’s shop?
Good question. I’m assuming those were the ingredients Felix brought to and was throwing into the well, stolen from Regina’s vault. Which means that Regina kept hairs from people in her vault.
It makes sense that the ingredients came from Regina’s vault. Regina could have gotten the hairs for the evil doers along with everyone else after they ended up in SB. Or since her first attempt at the curse had backfired, she would have needed the hairs again from them and that time she kept some just in case they were needed again.

I saw a fan theory that “True North” with Mr. K Krysowski is Kris Kringle –doesn’t trade kids, but gives them gifts or coal, keeps records on them.
Ooh, I like that. Considering in that same episode there were Christmas treats in the Blind Witch’s home, red & green were dominate colors, and Hansel’s SB name was Nicholas. 1×9 aired mid Jan so it was close to Christmas. If the Pilot had been aired mid to early Sept like originally planned, it would have been the Christmas episode.

i thought it was interesting that Dr. Whale asks “Who did this to him?” Instead of what happened to him. I wonder what symptoms Whale is looking at.
Good questions. What did happen to gurney-man? Are we talking physical accident (missing limb, shot, other external evidence) or are we talking something more magical–like a curse. Because he’s asking “who did this” I think it’s probably a magical ailment.
Maybe the magical ailment is a physical one like is being turned into something like a scarecrow, a tin man, a lion or a flying monkey. Or maybe just simply turning someone green. 🙂

About the darkest souls who contributed their hair to the curse, I wonder what kinds of cursed lives they lived. Regina promised they would all be happy here. The only two I think we have seen is Ms. Ginger and the leprechaun (gnome?) that sits in Reginas garden. While we are on the subject, exactly who or what were those darkest souls? I see a blind witch, gnome, ogre, some kind of axe wielding something, some lady figure type of thing that for some reason I keep saying is a centaur but my television us too dark for me to check >>
Good questions! I forgot about the fate of what happen to those characters. There could be background stories on any of those characters that just haven’t been told yet, like how EQ came to know them and what she used their knowledge for. I bet EQ lied to them about being happy in SB just so they would comply. The gnome got a fate worse then death for not believing in her cause. Also, One of the characters in that scene was ogre-like and his actor has been seen at least once in SB as well. In 1×8, in the scene in Regina’s office he was a guy in a blue suit in the background as part of the media crew. So they all could be in SB, we just haven’t recognized them all yet.

I found it. Adam & Eddy stated Mal was dead in the official podcast for 2×20 or 2×21. Took me a bit of searching on the forum to find it. It was in the “How did Hook get away from Maleficent?” thread :o)
