https://twitter.com/leearenberg/status/329241628789325824/photo/1Oh, I wish I could see it! Why, IT! Whyyyyy did you block tumblrrrr! Whaaaaaa!!!!
[adrotate group="5"]sarah_tnParticipantI imagine he knows aaaaaalllllll about it, now! 😆
sarah_tnParticipantLong as Hook’s there through season 3 (and hopefully season 4), I’ll be happy whether they redeem him, or not.
True though, they shouldn’t redeem him 100%. He’s got to have some baggage for the complexity of his character. Come on, you can’t have spaghetti without some seasoning! It’d just be noodles & tomato sauce! 😆
Same deal with Hook. Hook gives Once Upon A Time that extra, special “spice”, and that “spice” comes from his past, and from the imperfections he has which make him what he is; perfectly interesting and captivating! 😀
Please excuse the food analogies, I know I use those often, but I think they make my point. 😉
sarah_tnParticipantApparently, the COlin O’Pocalypse is today on tumblr. I read about it, and it’s where they put colin’s face on everything. It might be fun to look at. I’ll have to wait until I get home. 🙁
sarah_tnParticipantImportant to remember: Despite whatever story Regina spins in the interim, “No one leaves Storybrooke,” Kitsis reminds.

Does he mean they never really leave Storybrooke to enter Neverland? 😯 ❓

I can actually see at some point, Rumple and Hook being good friends. Their personalities balance out eachother. Call me crazy, but I totally see potential for Hook and Rumple having a Kirk/Spock kind of friendship. Even if they’re not best buds, their personalities still offer a balance that I think is comperable to a game of Jenga. That initial block didn’t need the other block before the other one was added in but after it was, taking the block out could be a very precarious and risky thing to do.
I compltely agree. Especially after last night’s episode. Hook is beginning to realize that revenge won’t sate him the way he thinks it will. It’s going to be a long road, but I do think once Hook learns to let go and Rumple does the same, they will actually become good frienemies.
Oh, next week is so far away! How am I going to make it through the summer hiatus? 😆

I agree with you on all points, except one, and only partly. I think Hook is just-as complex as Rumple. That said, Rumple is incredibly complex. Without Rumple, where would Once Upon A Time be? And now, without Hook, it’d be so lonely.
And disagreeing about these points is what makes OUAT so much fun. 🙂
Yes, it sure does. 😀

Hook wants to settle down probably even more than Emma, he just wants to have something in life to keep him going. He doesn’t want adventure, he really now looks like he doesn’t want his revenge, all he wants is something to care and fight for.
Someone to love, that’s what Hook wants and he’s willing to give up everything including his revenge.
Yup, I completely agree.

As for whether Hook can settle down, there’s a lot a woman can do to influence a man over time. I like that line from “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”. “The man is the head, but the woman is the neck” (and what can a head do without a neck?).
Love the “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” reference and totally applies.
Thanks. I love that movie! 😀

To each their own. For everyone who loves Hook and thinks he is a complex character, there is one person who isn’t crazy about Hook and wants more Rumple or Regina or Emma or Snow, ect.
Personally, I find Rumple to be the most complex character on the show and while I like Hook, I don’t find him to be as exciting as anyone else. I do believe that Hook/Neal/Emma will be relationship angst of S3, but I do not believe that Hook will be solely responsible for “saving the show” and I doubt focusing on just one character or relationship will cause the ratings to change much. This is a multiple character show and they need to spread the weight out evenly. I have no doubt there will be plenty of Hook next season, but there will be plenty of Rumple and Snow and Regina and everyone else.Rumplesgirl, I’m a big Hook fan (as you already know), but I have to say: Well said.

I think you’re right though. Rumbelle (or is it Rumlacey now?) needs to be a part of the formula too, and I think you hit the nail right on the head.

I liked that Hook was beginning to question his revenge quest against Rumple. He recognised that his life was going to be empty after he had killed Rumple and that he would have nothing to look forward to. For me, that moment alone was enough to actually say CaptainSwan is now a believable option. Before, I didn’t like the idea that Emma was supposed to fall into Hook’s arms because he was throwing sexual innuendos at her. Now that he has realised if he spends his whole life seeking revenge against Rumple, he’s going to end up alone, he may actually realise there is more to life than revenge. Whilst I don’t think Rumple and Hook will ever be friends, I think they could get a frenemy thing going on. They will sometimes help the other out, they will sometimes try and kill the other, but they will never actually kill the other. Hook would miss Rumple as a worthy foe.
Also, by realising there is more to life than revenge, Hook has actually extended his life on the show. Both characters can now exist on the show believably without it suddenly seeming like Hook has just given up on his quest for revenge for no reason. Between Rumple and Hook, Hook would’ve been the one to go, and that would’ve been a shame to fans of both characters.
I can see CaptainSwan going full blown in season 3 (possibly 4) however, I don’t see it lasting to series end sadly. At her core, Emma just wants to settle down and be with her family whilst Hook is an adventurer, he doesn’t want to stay in one spot his entire life. He’s not a family man. It is these deep differences that will eventually break CaptainSwan apart. Both will have a lasting influence on the other, they are going to be an important crossroad in each other’s life, and neither character would’ve been the person they are at series end if CaptainSwan hadn’t happened. I believe CaptainSwan will be one of those relationships where you can understand why it couldn’t last but it will be really sad to see it go.
I love your post, and I agree, except for the belief that Hook cannot be domesticated. He is an adventurer, and she wants to settle down, but I think they will all want to keep a little bit of adventure in their lives in some way.
