Hook was interesting in tonight episode. I think he didn’t defend himself when Rumple kept on hitting him is because that’s how he could feel again. He’s been bottled up for so long that having someone hit him, in a way, damaged a barrier (like Emma’s walls) that prevented him from feeling the emotions he felt when he was with Milah. The thought of Rumple killing him gave him hope. Hope for the same happiness he once felt with Milah. Hook was at his weakness in this episode. He’s slowly breaking.
I agree, Sam. I am hoping the story line about Captain Hook won’t be all about tragedy and bad choices without any hope. 🙁 I think there’s a lot they can do with him. I think he’s suicidal. You’re right about his weakness. He’s breaking.
[adrotate group="5"]sarah_tnParticipantI think it’d take a lot for her to trust Neal again.

I think the potential for Captain Swan sailed. Captain Hook cannot let go of Milah–the way he talked about her just shows how much he loved, as well as the fact that he seemed slightly suicidal, giving how he kept taunting and almost begging Rumpelstiltskin to kill him.
I agree he was selfish. It would not have taken much effort for him to call Emma afterwards and have Captain Hook arrested and charged.
So about my question, would he selfishness be why he didn’t simply turn Hook into a rat, a snake, or something else, instead of tolerating the back-and-forth between them?
sarah_tnParticipantAnother oversight I saw is this: If Rumple wants Hook gone so bad, then why wouldn’t he have turned him into a rat, or something else like he did Smee? I mean I know it’d be endgame and things have to follow onward, but it just struck me how easily he could handle his “Hook” problem, if he really wanted to. Instead, he acts like he’s helpless, and trapped in a corner!

Or it might mean nothing. Last season, they were sure to show August’s bike plates to be from Kansas, and it really never lead to anything.
…At least maybe not yet. Dorothy anybody? 💡
What do you mean?

I agree with the initial post — Hook sucks at being a villain! Not very adept in the slightest.
Yeah, at this point I think the writers will need to do one of three things:
1.) Find a way to redeem Hook (it would explain why he is such a weak villan. It would be because there was a possibility for good in him, after all)
2.) Really make him mean. I’m talking a Genghis Khan kind of mean
or
3.) “The Case of the Missing Story”. If he dies at this point, it really will seem like it got cut short. I’m sure ABC will be asked about that, if fans aren’t pleased with how all of this pans out.
sarah_tnParticipantWhat was Doctor Whale saying to Emma in the Canadian promo? Did anybody understand that?

My first thoughts are, as usual, mumbled and mixed but those are the things that spring into my mind:
– Well, can I just say that, if anything, I’m so glad we finally saw the brainy side of Belle! Why couldn’t we have at least glimpses of how smart she was before? (not that she didn’t come across as stupid or anything, just that wit and knowledge she has is great and should be explored further!)
– I’m also glad we’ve had an episode for Gold and seeing that he may change, although with GREAT GREAT difficulties.
– Hook yet again proved to suck at being a villain, has nobody even taught him how to fight? Even Rumple with his cane defeated him easily. It’s almost as if he wanted to die/lose. He said himself – ‘take my heart so I can be reunited with Milah’ – so he suggested the exact type of death he wanted to face and Rumple followed. Where am I going with that? Well, Belle also said ‘your heart is rotten’ to which he replied ‘you have no idea’. Maybe, apart from sarcasm, there is more to it? He’s obviously still aching from Milah’s death as we even saw in the final scene so either he wants to die because the pain is unbearable but something is stopping him from killing himself or maybe he found a way to kill Rumple by luring him into ripping his heart out – perhaps some sort of spell that would kill both of them once Rumple is crushing his heart? That’s why his heart could be rotten, from the spell? As a result, probably both of them would die, but what would Hook have once Rumple’s dead? He’s vengeance would have been accomplished but the pain would still be there. Instead, he could ‘reunite’ with Milah?
– back to Archie meeting Emma and Henry – geez, I honestly lost hope at some point that they were ever going to show it in this episode! But their reactions were a bit… flat. Yeah, Emma was shocked Archie was alive but Henry just stood there with a straight face saying “we should probably tell her” like it was just yet another thing on their thick off list – not like he was sat depressed for hours before!
And that “I knew it” coming from the boy. WHAT? You’ve just been planning on making an armoury so that you have weapons against her! And now you KNEW she was innocent all along. 😡– Snow DISAGREEING with Charming. Yes. Go Snow. YOU don’t have to be the heroes all the time, this time you fight for your happiness, for once! Charming, YOU ARE NOT A KING OR A WARRIOR, just see how happy Snow is right now! I’m glad the writers brought that in, that sense of unsettlement between them.
– So we knew the final scene, that’s a bit of a bummer, to be honest. So we know Ethan is now in Storybrooke and Belle lost her memory – kudos to people who guessed it before, explains her future despondency!
– let me just delve again on how much I liked Belle in this episode, both in present Storybrooke and in the flashbacks!
– Smee = rat. The man had it coming. He’s very attached to this hat, is he a lost boy by any chance? (sorry if I missed that somewhere)
– Philip being the monster – that’s a very nice tie in, didn’t expect it but I really like the idea. Perhaps in the future episodes it will come handy and Philip will have a chance to repay his dept to Belle somehow?
– where is Regina from the promo? Null. Zero. Nothing. Apart from the 3 seconds of the Evil Queen.
– lastly: it seemed like the number plate on that car, 2KFL 138, was significant, any thoughts?
Favourite line: Rumple: “He has to die Bell” with that “See?” slash “Mr-Obvious” gesture… 😆
Yeah, I’m still not convinced he’s really a “villan”, per say. Even, after what Belle said. I think Boris from Bullwinkle was meaner than Hook is. I guess Cora is Natasha. Seriously: I’m wondering if Hook is suicidal. He wanted to die.
sarah_tnParticipantGood episode. Seriously though, Hook was hit by a car….and was Belle shot? Not sure! I know she went over the line, but was she shot, grazed, or missed?
No Hook or Belle scenes for the next episode in the previews. I’ll be on pins and needles until next Sunday. Maybe that was the idea. It worked!!!
To everyone else, I agree with 😮 ! That’s exactly how I feel right now!
sarah_tnParticipantmyril wrote:Kathryn was just a pawn to get to Mary Margarete and David, Archie has some worth on his own. Kidnapping him while making it look like Regina killed him was a brilliant idea, evil. No one will look for him now, that’s giving the evil duo some time to get information out of Archie.
…quote]I can’t wait until tomorrow. I want to know how they will get this information. Magic truth serum?
I bet Hook probes for more than just info about Rumple. I’ll bet he will also ask about Emma. If he does, it’ll explain the whole bean stalk thing way before he and Emma meet up again.
He’d totally use that to his advantage, if he wants the favor of the town sheriff!
