I received several reports about this topic, so I investigated it. I think this is still a legitimate theory based on some spoilers, but it could still be false and many people wish for either side.
I’ve merged the related topics, moved them to the appropriate spoilers section, and cleaned up the thread a bit. I wouldn’t normally take this kind of action, but it seemed necessary in this case.
Let’s remember to remain charming, even when we suspect misbehavior. 😀
(But also remember to keep relevant conversations together and in the appropriate places.)
It sounds like this theory had merit. That makes me very unhappy, and honestly just ruins my whole day. I know it’s just a tv show, but this seems like a bait and switch on the people who hold it up (the viewers) and so if Aesop’s right, then yeah it ruins that for me too.
Aesop: I owe you an apology
Wow. I concur.

I never cared for J.K. Rowing, and have never seen a Harry Potter movie. I think one of the reasons for that may be, because I am already aware of the controversy surrounding her work, which is the product of her judgement, and it’s quality. What determines what we do looks like doesn’t just come from our hands, and our brains. Especially when from from an artistic capacity, it comes as a visual reflection of who we are, and how our hearts regard others around us. J.K. Rowing had an entertaining story, however I don’t know that I can call her an example worth following. Just because something “seems” to prosper someone, doesn’t mean that where it really matters, that it really did. Not in any way being worthwhile, and meaningful. Look at the bigger picture. That’s where the question of ethics comes in, which I mentioned in my post. In other words, aim higher. Not just in what you do, but also for what you do does not only for, but to yourself; to the person who you want to be, and to what that person has to give to the world we live in.
I just had to post this, on top of that 😀

I don’t really care for polls either. I could make the same argument that Neal is more popular judging by the number of fans he has on any particular forum. On this forum, the IMDb boards and Fan Forum, Neal is quite popular. In fact, any forum that has a strong Rumpel fanbase also tends to have a strong Neal/Bae fanbase as well.
And the problem with polls is that in most, the site gives you the option of voting as many times as you want. There have been polls where I’ve voted for a particular character or couple more than 50 times. 😆
It is a shame they can’t put up some kind of guard rails that make people only vote once. You’re right about that. If you can vote as many times as you want, you can’t really see the real results. That’s why the twitter search is more objective.

I was stating my opinion, not goading anything.
I didn’t say I don’t want ppl talking about Hook, I said he’s in every topic….whether it’s about Hook or not (even though there are multiple threads about Hook) so, kinda hard to avoid.
I know Hook and Emma are not dating…I didn’t say they were.
As for the poll….yes, there is a reason for it.
@Sarah_TN – oops….sorry I mentioned that, then…I didn’t think your post was nasty, I thought it was kinda funny 🙂Oh, ok. Glad you weren’t offended. I’ll put it back, then. For those who don’t know what this is about, this is an illustration of how I feel about Neal. For some reason, he makes me think of Bill the Cat: http://beta.photobucket.com/images/bill%20the%20cat/?

Don’t know what happened to your post, but, I know who Bill the Cat is.
….I thought that was unnecessarily cheap and nasty, so I removed it.
sarah_tnParticipantThis is about episode 14, so it’s the last thing I’ll post on this topic.
I got curious. I went to twitter to see how public opinion may rank on “shipping” from social media.
When searching (the option for “all”) “hook” “emma” or “hook” “ouat”, I got a lot of entries. When searching “neal” “emma” or “neal” “ouat”, they were there, but far less so often. This is an objective information source, and it’s results cannot be spun to reflect individual preference in one direction, or another. I believe that makes for a good indicator of popular sentiment.
With the way we’ve fought over the “shipper wars” though, it’d do us right for them to have done the old “Bait and Switch”, and pair her with neither one of them. She could end up with August (no objection).
Okay, that’s the last thing I’ll say about it. Now, back to Manhattan. One good thing does come out of this. It’s great to know people can leave Storybrooke. That, will continue to make things ever more interesting.
sarah_tnParticipantSorry, I disagree. We can argue until we’re blue in the face, but the truth is what it is. If ‘ya got it, ‘ya got it, if ‘ya don’t, ‘ya don’t. You can’t pump orange juice from oil wells. Unless something drastic happens, this just ain’t gonna work.

I think we just need to watch and see how the Neal and Hook characters play out. We’ve been introduced to them in a couple of episodes. There is a lot more backstory needed for both of these guys!
Yes, we are off-topic. So any updates on Ep 2×14 spoilers? 🙂
Agreed!
sarah_tnParticipantHere and everywhere else, there are what they’re calling “shipper wars”. This isn’t exclusive to Once Upon A Time Podcast. It’s everywhere, and so that makes this a hot topic. Again, I think OW’s right. Looks. Story. Potential. Drama. Personality. Depth. That’s a good formula. Maybe we haven’t seen enough of Neal yet, but so far I’m going to be disappointed if Emma ends up with him. There’s just not enough there to keep me wanting more, and the writers are going to have to do a lot of work to do if they want to move the point of interest away from Hook, and toward somebody else who for now, I, and many others find to be far less interesting.
