What if that picture is not meant to be Henry, but Rumpel as a boy, only it was drawn after Rumpel was grown up? I was answering something in the “plot hole” thread, and I almost typed something about how it wouldn’t be fair for Emma or Bae to be undone to a younger age just to let their parents raise them, and then this thought struck me.
What if that is what “undoing” is going to mean–that Rumpel is going to be the one (temporarily) reversed in age, because there is a connection between the Dark One, & PP? So PP is searching for Henry, but he actually wants Rumpel, but he just doesn’t know it. Someone once put a picture up of RC as a boy and he does look a lot like Jared did when younger.
Can I just say now that my mind exploded. 😯
Your idea…genius. It helps that Robert Carlyle looked so much like Henry’s actor does when he was young. It’s actually ridiculous how much they look alike.[adrotate group="5"]schaendlich

I just think it sets up some better conflict and dynamics, and Rumpel’s a bit over-used in a way, much as I love him.
I agree, Rumple is horribly over used. I’m just sharing an idea that came automatically to me when it was confirmed that they had met before. I like the idea of Peter being something of a Boogeyman, so a child Rumple is the first thing that comes to mind. I want Peter to be more than just someone that Rumple cut a deal with. That idea was also horribly over used by the end of the second season. 🙄
I think I still prefer the idea that PP is nothing but a shadow (but not the one we saw). The scene where Felix talks about the ripping is the scene where you see Felix’s shadow on the door next to Hook–it’s quite noticeable as all the boys walk out of the cabin next to Hook, and their shadows appear, and Felix is the last and his appears as well.
I remember watching and being glad that Felix was not Peter. However, I believe that saying that we haven’t met Peter yet, then introducing a shadow and then (later), introducing the actual Peter as a different shadow or anything even remotely similar to something we’ve already been told is not Peter, would be redundant. Also, A and E already said that Peter’s identity would be very important. They’re really keeping their mouths shut about it. So, making him nothing more than a shadow would really disappoint me. 🙁
From there I like the idea that Rumpel cut a deal with the shadow of some sort–originally we thought to find Bae, but that’s been disproven. So the other was that he wanted him to find the “undoing” boy. That seems off in the timeline. So now I think the deal was later on and it was ironic that Bae was there and Peter wanted Henry–but Rumpel did not know–because the deal he made was for that curse that Rumpel eventually had Regina cast.
I want a villain who does bad things for himself, because he is bad. I like a Peter Pan who is a terrifying force to be reckoned with all because he refused to get old. An actual villain. Not a deal gone wrong. I guess another reason why I appeal more to Rumple having a more innocent role in meeting Peter, is because Once has become almost boringly predictable to me, and having the standard: “Rumple made a deal or did something to someone as the D.O. and now it’s messing everything up” is even more overplayed than “Rumple came face to face with the stuff of nightmares when he was young, simply because forces greater than him are selfish”.
In fact, the idea of (insert here) and Rumple making a deal is the whole premise of the show. I just sometimes hope for a difference so that I can stay interested. I love this show too much to give up, or hope for what I’m expecting. I want a twist that I can’t see, and a deal is one not of them. It would be kind of boring. 😐

I really like the idea that PP needs Henry because his of a similar situation, having been abandoned and I really like the idea that PP is dying and needs the children (my theory is that he needs their shadows) to sustain either him or the magic of NL that keeps people from aging.
Wow! Needing their shadows is an interesting theory. 🙂 I’m kind of hoping that Henry’s shadow is important, as well. I’m wondering, exactly what removing a shadow does! I’m sure it hurts… 😕
Tamara and Greg (btw: to reduce having to type out their names, a lot of us here just call them GOAT= Greg/Owen And Tamara) in my mind are just foot soldiers, they don’t really know the agenda of The Home Office. Tamara’s backstory needs to be told, no one comes into this world hating magic as much as she does. There has to be something deeper. Back during the airing of Lacey, many of speculated that she was the daughter of Robin Hood and Marian and that they fled the EF after they stole the wand that was used to heal Marian. But it wasn’t enough and Marian died in our world giving birth to Tamara which turned Robin Hood very angry and sad and thus Tamara hates magic. Still not sure if that holds weight.
Hmm. I dunno. I’m still one of those who really can’t take any sort of stand on who Tamara is. I always maintain that she’s not from the Enchanted Forest. I really don’t see how she could be. Though being Marian’s child is an interesting prospect, something about Tamara herself just puts that idea off for me. I do believe that she most definitely came int contact with magic in an extremely negative way. I also believe that there is a reason that Tamara was cast as African American. Ed and Adam always say that they don’t judge parts based upon race, so there must be specific reasoning as to why they would specifically ask that Tamara be African American. It’s why I partially believe that she has something to do with characters in the past who were also African American (Lancelot, Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother). I believe that it also might have to do the picture that she possesses of her grandmother. Plus, her use of words like “unholy” make me wonder if she has some sort of religious affiliation. And even on that note, it’s too much of a stretch to say that she’s the secret lovechild of Esmeralda and Count Frollo or something. (i.e. it’s the only heavily religious story that became a Disney movie that I can recall).
Wait. Oh, no. Now the ideas about what that could mean are unfolding in my brain! Considering her relations with PP, she might have been taken by him, and that would explain why she hadn’t aged. And maybe PP had brainwashed her even further, appealing to her ideals so that he could use her!
…or maybe, I just took that to far. 😆 I apologize.Either way, I think there’s something very important that all of us are missing about who she is. 😉
GOAT!? 😆 Nice. I may just start using that!

ParticipantThat’s a good idea! It is plausible to believe that Greg is a Lost One, but I’d have to know what Tamara’s deal is before I say much on her. I don’t believe that she has any relations in the Enchanted Forest (or any that she knows of).
Also, what’s Tamara’s deal with saying that things were “unholy” or “abominations”. I don’t think Peter was much for spiritual brainwashing, so I’m even more hesitant to place her anywhere near Peter other than being a blind follower. 😕schaendlich

Hello Schandlich, welcome to the forums! 😀
Your username sounds German (though no umlaut), any German connections?Well, I used to use the umlaut, making myself “infamous”, but somewhere along the way, I got lazy and just became “Shameful”. 😆
No, I am not German, but I enjoy the language. 😎schaendlich

Welcome to the forums Schandlich! Nice to see another new fan. What brought you to Once? Do you have a favorite character? I also love the theater. Anyhow, if you are here in America have a great memorial day weekend and if you are outside of the US just have a great weekend! 😀
A friend of mine was watching it on Netflix and I was sitting on the floor, drawing. I was incredibly bored. I asked her what she was watching, and she described the show to me. I instantly said “Haha, lame. Sorry, but no.” After what felt like hours (she was watching the entire thing from the beginning), I heard a giggle…a weird, male giggle. I looked up at her and asked who that was. She described to me man who made a deal and turned into a monster. I was still very nonplussed by the idea and was really sarcastic to her. I proceeded to ask a series of questions (Why on earth did he make the deal?
Why did he kill the other guy? What does a knife even have to do with it? So, the curse is the reason his voice is so high pitched?) Even in the midst of condemning the show before I’d even seen it, I couldn’t help but be a little interested. I told her to call me to see the screen when the “scaly man” was back on screen. I just wanted to see what he looked like. Of course, I got up and glanced at the screen to see before she called me and saw a man in a suit. She said, “That’s him”. I told her that he wasn’t scaly at all and she told me that hiss fairy tale counterpart was. So, I stayed and watched until the person that I know now as Rumpelstiltskin appeared. I haven’t stopped watching since. Suffice it to say, he’s my favorite character. 😀
I’m glad that you love Theatre as well! Interesting in acting at all? 😉
Thank you! Yes, I am in America. A happy Memorial Weekend to you, too! -
