It’s dead.. along with shows that take place in space.

I know you love your villains but let’s not forget two things:
1) Emma doesn’t know about Rumple manipulating her
2) Snow and Emma were talking about the sleeping curses and the big bad curse – both of which Regina is responsible for. So, Emma was correct… Regina is to blame for those happening.
schmackyParticipantHenry is lucky even to have access to Mr. Gold’s magic to heal his burns. Henry is doomed to risk being burned over and over, because there is no way to prevent Henry from returning there.
I think the burn is a consequence of “going deeper” into the netherworld. Before when they were just sleeping, Henry and Aurora didn’t have burns. It wasn’t until they made contact with one another that the burns started popping up. I don’t think one is supposed to be communicating in that inferno and when you go “deeper” to explore the area or communicate, you suffer the burns.. or worse.
So even though Henry is fated to go back to that room until his mind can protect him from going there, he isn’t going “into the deep” of the netherworld and therefore will not have any physical harm.
Which is why Charming went in. Because he had to go in deeper to get the message across.
schmackyParticipantWhy not just let Henry return, since his soul is still doomed to relive the consequences of the sleeping curse with the knowledge that Mr. Gold will always heal him?
Because for whatever reason they needed to do it now. And even so, Mr. Gold said they were lucky all that happened to Henry was a burn on the arm. Obviously it can do much worse to you in there.

The first time since the premiere where they left out FTL flashback and just focused on the present day stories and I loved it! It flowed so well, made so much sense, it was great. There were a lot of scenes I loved.. probably for different reasons than most people on here from what I gather.
I loved Belle and Rumple’s date… but because it was so crazy awkward. And Granny. And Regina barging in.
Henry and Regina’s talk when she was making the curse… I give Regina props for handling that well and with honesty. Henry has gotten slack since the pilot episode because he has on occasion been a “brat” to Regina. Those arguments drive me nuts. But, this scene was great because if you’ve never seen this show before you can see there is a seriously strained relationship going on between them. But, you can also tell that each cares for the other but there is a giant elephant in the room that is keeping them apart.
I also liked after David went in the sleeping curse and Henry is wondering why he hasn’t woke up and Regina is all “maybe they’re just catching up” when Gold shakes his head no, Regina looks at Henry and looks quite sad. And I personally like to believe that she’s sad for Henry because Henry is upset about his grandfather. Like.. it’d be really nice if Regina actually felt empathy towards her son (as opposed to last season when she used him for her own gain). So, that was a nice little touch in her “really trying” arc.
On a little sidebar, can I say how AWESOME Regina’s face was when she said “If there’s one thing I know about your grandparents…. they always find each other.” LOL She was trying to be supportive of Henry but oh man you can see/hear/taste and feel that disdain and disgust she has for his grandparents lol.
Loved Aurora in this episode. It’s amazing how much you can like a character when they actually give her something to do. Here’s to hoping they do something similar with Mulan.
Glad to see Hook actually be a villain and more than just a flirt. I also like Cora’s campiness but.. she’s a lil annoying. She’s not a character I love to hate. I just like to hate her. Regina (especially FTL flashback) last season I LOVED hating her. Not feeling it with mommy dearest.
Snow and Emma were adorable.. they’re really coming a long way in their relationship. You can almost see a merge between their best friend relationship and this newfound mother-daughter thing. I absolutely adored the “if there’s one thing your father taught me” line. I don’t know why, it’s just really cute to hear Snow say stuff like “your father” or whatever.. reminding her that yeeeeep, parents.
Two things other people jumped on Emma for (not just on here but other places as well) that I didn’t quite get or maybe I interpreted the scenes differently…
One was “Oh yeah princess, you’re going to sleep.” Or something. Some said she was rude to Aurora about it. I didn’t get it at all. Maybe it’s my personal headcanon, but I get the feeling Emma and Aurora have actually gotten quite along during their little journey. Maybe it’s their lil chat in Lady of the Lake and Emma giving her jacket, but I feel there’s a more connection there than there is with Emma and Mulan or Aurora and Snow (even though Snow comforted her during her sleep). So, the “princess” line wasn’t really derogatory or rude, it’s just… well, Emma speech.
And Emma has NO idea what this netherworld is like, so she doesn’t quite get what she’s asking of Aurora… besides, Aurora is going to go there anyway no matter what.. might as well be sooner rather than later.
Another one was “Regina is to blame” Wow I’ve never seen a character get so much slack for a statement than that one right there and I am flabbergasted as to why. From my interpretation, Emma was first talking about Henry and his curse and how it’s her fault. And then Snow talks about the Big Curse and flippantly saying how it’s her fault. Then they start talking about faith and as Snow walks off Emma stares off into nothing and from what I interpreted… it finally clicked for Emma. Like, for real. It finally clicked in her brain what’s happened in the last 28 years. Not only did Regina actually create the poisoned turnover but there was this curse that tore apart her family… and Regina did that. Regina is at fault for both the sleeping curse and the Big Curse. And Emma finally clicked it all together and was like “Whoa.. she’s not just some annoying thorn in my side, she’s actually an evil bitch.” But hey, that’s just my interpretation…
schmackyParticipantMaybe it has something to do with the well. The love potion was dropped into it, Emma drank from it herself, her mother drank from it before she was even conceived, she is the personification of the true love potion.. I think it’s a mixture of things.
schmackyParticipantAnd it makes no sense, why would he do all the horrible things people are accusing him of, and still send the postcard to Neal. I guess we’re just going to have to wait and hopefully see.
It makes plenty of sense… because all those “horrible” things are done BEFORE he went to Storybrooke. Before meeting and getting to know the real Emma, before getting to know Henry. He may have given up on Emma believing in time for him, but that doesn’t mean he’s a cold hearted ass hole to purposely keep a family apart when they don’t need to be.
A person doing one good thing doesn’t negate any bad they’ve done just as one bad thing doesn’t negate all the good they have done.
schmackyParticipantAugust was the one that ratted out the shovel to Regina, when in the end, it simply wasn’t true. Why should this instance be any difference????????
The difference is we found out the truth within the same episode. They threw us off in that ep and X amounts of minutes later told us otherwise. Which, btw, I never though August did take the shovel or rat her out. I knew it was Regina from the get-go. I thought that was obvious as well.
Well, if you don’t have an open mind and only want to see the worst in people, then go ahead.
Me thinking that Emma made a life for herself without the assistance of 20 grand and thinking August took it doesn’t mean I don’t have an open mind and only want to see the worst in people. I think that statement is going a little extreme.
Pinocchio is the story of a boy whom has a difficult time with temptation, lies, and struggles with those things. August himself said at least twice that there are a lot of temptations out there in the world and he is bad at saying no. Is it really so hard to believe that August took the money when by his own admission he failed Emma and partied it up when he shouldn’t have? Obviously, yes, any one can interpret it as they see fit… but to accuse someone of “wanting to see the worst in people” because they don’t think August was a saintly man is just… bad form.
He seemed to have a genuine rapport with Emma and Henry, and that’s something I cannot get past. That is what is keeping my hope about him alive.
Well, you shouldn’t have to get passed that. He built a rapport with Emma and Henry after he left teenage Emma, after he [supposedly] took the money, after he partied it up in Phuket, after he messed up big time. So yeah, I agree with you and I hope as well that he can turn his life around and become better. And say no to temptation finally. And help others without it directly effecting him.
In Tallahassee:
Neal: And if I can’t be there for her, man, you got to promise me that you will be.
August: I promise.
11 years later:
August: I was supposed to be there for you. And I wasn’t.
When August has that conversation with Emma, I do believe he ultimately is remorseful for his previous actions up to and including taking that money and not being there for Emma as he promised. But, to get to that point, he had to have made mistakes. You can’t just discount them because there’s always a “what if” out there. There is more ‘evidence’ of him messing up than him working for some third party. It’s a cop-out for his character and you miss a lot of his growth if you don’t acknowledge his mess ups in the past. IMO.
schmackyParticipantEion Bailey might leave this show after the writers are dumping all over his character.
That would be highly unprofessional of him. He is there to play a character.. not a loved and the bestie character in the world.. but a character that the writers create and expand upon.
Anyway.
For all we know, maybe he did send the money to the prison, but the guard took it. Ever think about that?
No, I didn’t because 1) It would be stupid for anyone to send money to a prison or a car and 2) like said MULTIPLE times before, it was very obvious that August took the money. Reading his facial cues and body language makes it obvious. It’s called reading between the lines. No, there was no dialogue that stated he didn’t take the money but the ACTING told us.
If they want the intensions more clearer, then actually film it.
They did film it. Watch it again and pay attention to Bailey’s face when August sees the money and how he tries to turn away from temptation by saying “Money isn’t what she needs. Not for what’s ahead.” Because he knows if he takes that money, he’s going to pocket it. He was trying to resist temptation but ultimately failed.
Why does August have to be the one burned at the stake and not Neal?
People have been annoyed with Neal and his decision and his “laying over” and just accepting of what August said. But, this isn’t a Neal thread.. it’s an August thread.
I’m also contemplating that Emma did indeed, live in a nice apartment in Boston, seemed to be well off to come to Storybrooke and decide to stay without a real job, had no problem paying back the bond money to MM…….You see my end? Benefit of the doubt.
No, I don’t see your end. So, because Emma made a life for herself within 10 years means what? That she had 20 grand to her name when she was 18? I don’t think so.
schmackyParticipantBut, you’re doing the same thing but on the opposite side. You’re excusing his actions without knowing the full story.
I thought it was VERY obvious from August’s look when he saw the money that he pocketed it because he has issues with temptation. You could basically SEE the dollar signs in his eyes. I thought it interesting that after listening to the official podcast, Eddy and Adam basically confirmed my suspicions… that August did indeed take the money and that’s what funded his trip to Phuket.
