schmackyParticipant
The fandom is just one small section of the 8-11 million people who watch this show every week. A and E have to consider the story as a whole, not just what is most popular on the internet.
I think they’re doing as they planned. Even with not giving too much to Neal. His time will come. But it’s not right now.
[adrotate group="5"]schmackyParticipantAhh, cool. Thanks for the heads up. And thanks for the tips. I was looking for the spoiler tag thingy and didn’t see it and I have a really poor attention span and gave up.
schmackyParticipantI’m going to copy and paste what I wrote on my Tumblr about certain things. Is there a rule about cursing? Because I kinda do that often.
I’m not worried because I’m looking at this from a story-standpoint. Not from what is popular or not in the online fandom.
I hope people realize that while the creators and cast truly appreciate their fans and appreciate that we get so into it… we’re the minority. The online community? We’re the minority. Millions of people watch this show. Only thousands are online talking about it.
So yes, maybe Neal isn’t popular in the online community. So what? That isn’t going to change their minds on how they want their story to go. Let’s take a couple things into account, ok?
Neal is an original character. There are only three truly original characters that this show gives a **** about. Emma, Neal, and Henry. Because he’s an original character, one of very few, they’re going to want to actually tell his story. His story is far from over.
This show is also about hope and it’s not even close to debating that Neal has had a really crappy life thus far. He’s had pockets of happiness but other than that? He’s had a rough life. Living on the streets in multiple time periods and realms. Losing everyone he loves. Captive for years. Alone. And his ending in season 3 is going to be death? What sort of message is that? I mean… If we were in season 6 or something, I might be worried. But we’re in season 3. By season 3’s end he’ll be on the show for just a season and a half. We know so much about his character but they haven’t explored it. It’s too early for him to die.
Speaking of death, he just did. Well, the characters thought he died. The writers just explored the emotional impact of Neal’s death earlier this season. They spent 7 episodes on it. And within the same season they’re going to do it again? I don’t think so. I highly, highly doubt that. Again, if this was season 5 or 6 I might be worried but they’re not going to ‘kill’ him twice in one season. It’s redundant.
His relationships with both Emma and Henry are on the fritz and haven’t been even close to being explored. You can’t replace what Neal is to either Emma or Henry. You either explore those relationships with Neal or not at all. Emma loves the guy but she’s scared and not ready. She hasn’t come to terms with stuff. She hasn’t forgiven or accepted or whatever it is she needs to do to move past those feelings she’s been locking away for 12 years. She said it would be easier if he was dead… and it would be easier because then she wouldn’t have to deal with it. But I believe in character development and want her to deal with it. And the only way she can deal with it is if Neal is alive. Henry has a father. No matter who comes into Emma or Regina’s life, they will never replace what Neal is to Henry. His father. His actual biological father that would have been there for him the moment he was born had he known about him. Neal didn’t hesitate one moment in being there for Henry and we’ve hardly explored that relationship. There’s more to tell there. And then there’s Rumple.. while they hugged and it was adorable, I don’t think 300 years of feeling abandoned is going to go away just like that. They’ve made a really good first step but they have a long way to go.
Seriously, why do people think it’s Neal that’s going to die? Because the stuck-up, self-righteous, and annoying online fandom doesn’t like him?
Who gives two hoots about the online fandom?
I’ll eat crow if it’s Neal.
schmackyParticipantWhat I find bothersome is how many SF ers want Hook to die or sail off into the sunset never to be seen again, even before this spoiler made its debut.
The only reason I want Hook gone is because I don’t like S3 Hook. I want S2 Hook back. Or I want him to sail out into the sea because that’s what makes him happy. He’s a sailor, he’s a pirate. He’s meant for the seas.. not to run around in Storybrooke. Or I want him to have a heroic death. The hero who became a villain who became a hero. Or I want Colin to leave OUAT and go off to a Neverland spin off where it’s 13 episodes of just Neverland with Tink and Wendy and Pan and Smee and Bae and Felix. That’s why I would want Hook gone. I want Hook gone for reasons that have nothing to do with Emma or Neal.
schmackyParticipantThey obviously attained them.
If Emma ever hears this guy’s name I need her to scream out “Ru-FI-OOoooooooO!”
schmackyParticipantMy first thought was Henry. He is the truest believer. Of their existence, of people being good. Of good itself. Perhaps this has something to do with why Pan wants him?
It could also refer to the Truest Believer of whatever cause The Home Office has. It could be Pan himself.
The question isn’t who is the truest believer but truest believer of what?
schmackyParticipantI’m going to name all the dads so I don’t forget one and then pick. Henry Sr., Rumple, Charming, King George, King Leo, Moe, Neal, Sean (Ashley’s baby dadd), Sean’s dad (I always forget his name), King Xavier, I think that’s it.
My favorite: Charming, no doubt. He missed out on being a dad and now he’s trying as hard as he can to be a father to a nearly 30 year old woman when he’s nearly 30 years old himself. He became a father and a grandfather all in one day and he’s trying his best and I think he has super powers where his hugs actually make people feel better. That’s a good skill a father needs.
Least: Rumple . He’s killed so many people in front of his son it’s truly amazing that Neal isn’t some effed up violent crazy person.
schmackyParticipantPeople should probably wait to see the show before making names for fans of the characters. Like Rump is “dearies” right but no one would have come up with that name before the series started since it’s something he says all the time.
schmackyParticipantWhat Milah did to Rump was pretty bad. But Rump was the kind of guy that was totally ignoring what was wrong with his marriage and ignored the fact that it was falling apart as each day went by. It really shouldn’t have been a surprise that one day she was gone. I think the worst part of their break up isn’t that she left him (because like I said, Rump had to have been blind to not see it coming) but that she left their child and made Rump do the dirty work of explaining what happened to mama to the poor kid.
schmackyParticipantThose are not S3 character promo posters. All of those, except Hook’s, are from the first season. Hook’s is fan-made.
Promo pictures won’t even be taken until some time after July. Actors are on hiatus right now and that includes promotional material… which will involve both Neal and Hook since both are now regulars at the beginning of the season.
