Sci-Fi GirlParticipant
So, starting yesterday the chat has a hissy fit whenever more than 10 people are online (including guests I think). Right now it won’t let me in.
You should probably try and fix that before Sunday night. 😯

Sci-Fi GirlParticipantI haven’t seen last night’s episode yet, so this is my review of last week’s: Episode 7 “Snafu”: 🙂
Anyway, I loved this ep, particularly the guys’ various reactions to Peggy. Both to her apparent betrayal, and to her telling the full story. And also their faces, (particularly Sousa’s) when she explained the vial of Steve’s blood.
I especially liked in the initial interrogation that Thompson, having learned to trust her, was the one to say “something is not right here”, “something doesn’t add up”. And Sousa, who liked her, was hurt.
Her descriptions of the different ways each of them saw her were particularly revealing:
*To each in turn*:
“You think you know me, but I’ve never been more than what each of you has created.”
*To Dooley* “To you, I’m a stray kitten, left on your doorstep to be protected.
*To Thompson* “The secretary turned damsel in distress.
*To Sousa* “The girl on the pedestal, transformed into some daft whore.”And then later, their somewhat humble understanding when she explained how she had operated unnoticed by them, because they treat her as invisible. (Which, not coincidentally, is the reason Ivchenko gave for using women as spy / assassins: they are invisible.)
When they went to confront Dottie, and Thompson warned Sousa to be careful, I like how he clarified: No, I’m not questioning your abilities. I’m warning you about the abilities of this adversary!
And I think it’s now pretty obvious just what happened in Finow. Clearly, it was the rage gas! 😯 The US military must have tested it on the Russians, something I assume Stark had not consented to, despite his weapons contract. Which he then ended in protest. And, having seen his creation misused, built the vault.
So, the most wanted item in his vault, is also the reason he built it! 😮

February 14, 2015 at 3:30 pm in reply to: Song lyrics that remind us of Once Upon a Time, season 4 #295986Sci-Fi GirlParticipantHere’s another one of my favorite songs. After the winter finale, I noticed that this song felt to me like it speaks to Belle’s current POV, and yet, is full of hope.

236-6132 is the number of my love
even though it’s been some time since he made fair to answer
’cause he feints and fades from view like a fighter ducks a glove
though i play the highway kind and he the china dancerif i was afraid to break or bleed
i would find someone much easier to need
but when drifters’ dreams come true and when push comes ’round to shove
236-6132 is the number of my love236-6132 is the number i must call
when casey’s at the bat, and sleeping beauty slumbers
when the frost is on the dew, and my teardrops freeze and fall
till the world is frozen flat, and the long night snows me underon the icy nails of no return
we will strike the match and set the night to burn
’cause when beauty wakes anew and when casey cracks the ball
236-6132 is the only numberi am not looking for no champion of my freedom
i am anything but anybody’s foundling
sometimes i feel like i am wandering
an old balloon on broken string
a bubble in a baby’s dream
a lost and lonely buzzardling
a vulture beating creaky wings
while angry storms go gathering around me236-6132 is the number of my love
when the clouds are howlin rain and the sky is black as ashes
’cause it’s sunlight where we flew, though the trail is cold above
and the raven quakes in vain while the lightning barks and flashesstill the clouds will fade to gray cocoons
and spring the winken monarchs, nodding never-blinken moons
when the crows come home to roost and the eagle weds the dove
236-6132 is the number of my loveThis song feels so much like RumBelle to me, from Belle’s perspective.
It is a song about loving someone who is not easy to love. It speaks of the desolation and the tears of their long partings, only to make the inevitable reunions so much sweeter, in celebration.
The speaker in the song is not looking to be rescued by a hero, she is strong and independent. She still feels lost sometimes, adrift. But even when her love is not present, she knows he is her anchor, she knows they are still connected.
It is a song of much turbulence and turmoil, and yet, so much beauty. There is very much a feel of things happening in cycles. That each storm, no matter how bad, will always pass, and joy will return. 🙂
These lines in particular seem most relevant:
if i was afraid to break or bleed
i would find someone much easier to needi am not looking for no champion of my freedom
i am anything but anybody’s foundlingAnd this passage is the most beautiful series of abstract descriptive lines. She is drifting, but knows she will find land again:
i am not looking for no champion of my freedom
i am anything but anybody’s foundling
sometimes i feel like i am wandering
an old balloon on broken string
a bubble in a baby’s dream
a lost and lonely buzzardling
a vulture beating creaky wings
while angry storms go gathering around meAnd this is them right now, after the winter finale. It hurts, but this storm will end, as all storms end:
when the clouds are howlin rain and the sky is black as ashes
’cause it’s sunlight where we flew, though the trail is cold above
and the raven quakes in vain while the lightning barks and flashesstill the clouds will fade to gray cocoons
and spring the winken monarchs, nodding never-blinken moons
when the crows come home to roost and the eagle weds the dove
236-6132 is the number of my loveAnd this, might just sum up the whole thing:
the eagle weds the dove

Sci-Fi GirlParticipantAlso, a few more things I noticed:
— Why are there red pears on the table? Do pears come in red? I mean, ya know, do they grow red pears? Hmm >>Yes, there are red pears. I’ve eaten them. 🙂
(You can google “Red Bartlett. 😉 edit: or “Red Anjou”.)
Cue Rumple giggle! 😀
You might have noticed that I love dragons, and that dragon belt is just awesome!
Also I find it interesting that these are flashbacks with Rumple and the “queens”. *thinks*

Sci-Fi GirlParticipantOne more thing about Coulson. I thought of this when I rewatched Avengers recently. Coulson is Marvel’s version of Henry! 😮 That is, the reason Coulson is the glue, is because he is The Truest Believer!!! 😀

Sci-Fi GirlParticipantOk, here goes:
—
Day 1- Favorite Female Regular Character (Past or Present)May. She is awesome. She is tough and fun at the same time, and she has so much emotional depth. I feel like I understand where she is coming from, even without knowing the details of the mission that earned her her nickname.
My favorite is how she can be funny while being serious, like the line “My face hurts”. 😆 Or her one line during a season one interrogation: “Have a cookie.” 😆 Her delivery of those lines is just brilliant! 😆
—
Day 2- Least Favorite Female Regular Character (Past or Present)This is a really tough choice, because I really love everyone. I guess I’ll say Bobbi. I like her well enough, but she’s new, so we don’t know her as well as the others yet.
—
Day 3- Favorite Male Regular Character (Past or Present)Coulson. He was already my favorite before the show even started. 🙂 He is the glue that holds together the movies, and certainly this show.
He cares about everyone, he believes in the good of everyone. And over the course of the show, he has had a really interesting evolution as a character.
Actually, his journey and Skye’s are linked. At the beginning of season one, Coulson came from a place of absolute trust. Trust in SHIELD as an organization, and trust in the good that was being done, trust in his orders, trust in the chain of command. While Skye came from a place of absolute questioning. She questioned everything about SHIELD: the organization, the methods, and the intentions of the higher ups who gave orders unseen. At the very beginning, she didn’t trust anyone but herself. The first one she learned to trust was Coulson, and he had to earn it.
Over the course of the first season, through their friendship and their various ordeals, they each learned from each other’s opposite POV, and came to a balance somewhere in the middle. Coulson learned of the lies he had been told, and was forced to question everything he believed. And Skye learned to trust her friends, those she worked closest with. And she learned to believe in the good they could do working together.
And then there was the Hydra reveal, and Ward. And I think they had gotten to the perfect place for dealing with that: trust to a point, with limits.
I know I just said a lot about Skye, but that is my favorite character arc, and in that arc the two characters’ journeys are intertwined. 🙂

Sci-Fi GirlParticipantEdit: I almost forgot! I’m LOVING Agent Carter so far. It was great to see Dum Dum Dugan last week, and the Black Widow training facility was terrifying and awesome. (I had a feeling that Dottie was shady from the minute they introduced her.) If there isn’t a second season of this show, I will be VERY put out.
Cendrillon, there is an Agent Carter thread as well! 😎

Sci-Fi GirlParticipantYeah, they are siblings, but they were separated at birth and raised on completely different planets. And they got to know each other fairly well before they discovered they were brother and sister. And the audience found out when they did.
So that’s probably where any shippers are coming from. 😉

Sci-Fi GirlParticipantOoh, Sousa knows! 😮
When Jarvis said he didn’t know anything about the General or the fist fight, he started to reach for his ear, and then stopped himself. Did anyone else notice that? 🙂
Yeah, the girls’ school was pretty creepy. “Regretting the lack of knickers!” 😆 I do wonder if Romanov was trained in a place like that. She did say she started that early.
Great to see the howling commandos, but I’m sorry to see some get killed. 🙁
Now, this guy that they brought back is a plant, a double agent, a spy for sure. Why? They KNEW it was a trap, and for a trap they could have been sent anywhere just to get killed, why would it be where anyone important actually was? Only if they were MEANT to find that guy. He’s probably the Leviathan head honcho himself! 😮
And it’s good to see the boss is finally open to the possibility that Stark is being framed. He’s run into enough things that don’t add up, and he’s ready to look for the truth, even if it’s not what he expected.
And yes, we’re getting some very interesting character development for Thompson.
Also: “An old testament sea monster, who types!” 😆

Sci-Fi GirlParticipantOk, when watching the episode, I actually jotted down a list of things I wanted to mention. I just haven’t had a chance to turn the list into, you know, sentences. 🙄
So this might be a bit disjointed, but I wanted to post my comments about last week, before watching this week. So here goes:
—
First, a sweater pocket for a chicken! LOLOLOL!!!!! 😆 😆
Howard just really should NOT be let in that boarding house. Peggy basically just hid the fox in the henhouse! 😮
And yeah, Jarvis would be terrible at poker. 😆 Although, they seem to have come up with that just for this episode, as he didn’t rub his ear last week when he was being interrogated, for example. Or did he not actually lie then?
Sousa’s story when he was trying to interrogate the homeless guy, wow, just wow. *humble* And Thompson is like a savant when it comes to interrogations, so I knew all Sousa really had to do was interest Thompson enough to try. I knew the guy would talk in seconds if Thompson went in there.
So when Thompson went into the interrogation room, I knew he had taken pity on Sousa. Now, I know that is a very unfortunate choice of words, but it was deliberate. I actually don’t think that is what happened at that particular moment, I think he finally noticed how strongly Sousa felt about this lead, and realized there may actually be something of value to discover. But in the general circumstances, I think pity is something that happens far too often. And not in a nice way. 🙁
So the new girl next door, holy crap! 😮 😮 😮
“Is that gun automatic? I WANT IT.”
*woosh*😯 😯 LOL!
