Well, any time jump could be just to explain Henry continuing to grow up. But for that purpose alone, a longer one would seem to be more usefull, as you say. Very interesting!

Sci-Fi GirlParticipantThere seem to be an awful lot of kinks to work out, for a paid chat. I hope some of them are fixable with settings.
I have tried to compile a list of problems experienced by me and others:
– No archive. Some of us would really like to get back the ability to view previous posts! As it is, the chat only shows about 20 entries at a time, and when the chat gets busy it’s REAL easy to miss stuff.
– Posting delay. Most of the time, what I type appears instantly. But sometimes there is up to a 5 second delay! I hit enter, and then I start counting, wondering if it will show up at all! At first I thought it might only happen when I type something long, but then there was a full 5 second delay when I only typed one word! And I’m pretty sure other people have mentioned a lag as well.
– Some people find their posts do not even show up, they have to retype them. It’s not a delay, they wait and nothing happens.
– Sometimes I don’t see new posts until I refresh. So if I post without refreshing, there could be other things in between my post and what I’m responding to.
– Keyboard issues. I don’t know if anyone else has this problem, but it is really annoying. I can only post in the chatroom in full screen, because if I try to type in chat on the side of the forum, the keyboard stops working!
– Chat logs out in separate window. I’m not the only one this happens to. I like to use chat fullscreen in it’s own window, and because of my keyboard issue with this chat, I pretty much have to. But when I regularly check in, I find the chat has logged me out, and I can’t post! So even if I’m not looking at the forum right then, I have to go to a page of the forum, let it load, and then go back to the chat window. And only THEN can I post in chat! 😮
Combined with the keyboard problem, this is really annoying. Whether or not I am using the forum right then, I have to go the forum first (where I can’t type in chat), before I can go and talk in chat.
– Keb has the httpS problem in chrome. When she clicks on any forum links, it still defaults to the secure version of the site, where chat doesn’t even show up.

December 19, 2014 at 10:25 am in reply to: JK Rowling talks LGBT & Religious Faiths at Hogwarts #293639Sci-Fi GirlParticipantIt seems very random and arbitrary, like it’s the one religion that JK doesn’t “get”, or maybe doesn’t like. Either way, totally inappropriate to say.
Either that, or she’s trying (very late) to appease some of the Christian critics, who complained that her books would “lure children to paganism” or some such nonsense. Which is usually a dig at wiccans and the like.
And it’s absurd, there is no reason to try to appease those people, they will never be happy. The Harry Potter universe stands on its own, and is not “recruiting” for any religion, Christian or otherwise. *shakes head*

Sci-Fi GirlParticipantLol, no kidding! It had zero meaning other than plot device of the week. *rolls eyes*
When I saw a magical gauntlet, my first thought was of Torchwood’s “Risen Mitten / Resurrection Gauntlet”. Although if it were that, Rumple would surely have used it by now. He would have had to trick someone into sacrificing themselves to do it, but given what he has done with the hat, that would not be much of an obstacle. (The Torchwood gauntlet brings back the dead, by trading a life for a life, like when Neal brought back Rumple.)
But instead, it worked like Captain Jack’s compass. Which makes way more sense from a compass! And I’m sure they even have the rights to it, but they’ve already done a few magical compasses, so, I guess not. 😆
But no, it was just “plot device of the week”!
