This is Rumbelle discussion thread, not Zelena/Regina defense thread. All I’m going to say is that I’m happy that Zelena is gone, and I hope we never see her again, other than in flashbacks. And just to clarify: if it had been Rumple’s brother torturing Regina like Zelena tortured Rumple, I would have wanted him to die as well. Because Imo one Rumple is enough, as well as one Regina, in this show.
It has been my long standing theory that TLK can’t work on Rumple until after he made the ultimate sacrifice. When Belle TLK-ed him in S1 Skin Deep, it began to crack the curse but Rumple wasn’t ready yet and hadn’t made the ultimate LIGHT sacrifice to allow for TLK to work. Then he did make the ultimate sacrifice in 311 but there was no TLK cause Zelena got to him first (now proceeds to forget 315 ever happened in case she bursts into tears).
but now with the Zelena murder and the lying, I’m not sure how Rumple gives up the curse with TLK if he’s done something so violentMy current headcanon is that Rumple has found a way to prevent the consequences of TLK, because he doesn’t like to take risks. It’s like after he almost died of dreamshade poisoning: he studied the plant and found a cure.
My another theory is that there has to be the will and determination to break the curse in order for TLK to work.
Of course it’s possible that TLK requires the LIGHT sacrifice in order for it to break the DO’s curse.

Exactly. He didn’t even need to lie to Belle, she willingly gave the dagger back to him. So, what’s going on with him? What is he up to?
I’m pessimistic and slowly becoming VERY disillusioned with the show as a whole, so I apologize if I sound overly harsh on my favorite couple. But as to “why” right now with the Rumbelle wedding: well…because the fandom. There is no bigger canon ship than Rumbelle (SQ might give them a run, but SQ isnt’ canon). All season the fans have been clamoring for more Belle, for more Rumbelle, for more romantic interaction between the two because there was a total lack of it for so long, despite Rumbelle being *the* power couple. The engagement might now be flat out fan pandering, but the drastic leap to marriage right away screams PLOT. They need extra special Rumbelle drama for S4 because they’ve done separation so many times that they need something new. So Rumple kills Zelena and lies to Belle. PLOT!
Heaven forbid Rumbelle actually allowed to be happy.
I’m sorry you’re feeling that way.. and sadly, I kinda agree with you. But I’m still trying to hold on hope and be optimistic. It’s like my coping mechanism.
The only thing I can think of for grand gesture is Rumple finding a way to give up his Dark One’s powers. TLK has to come back in at some point for those two, right?
Yeah, something like that. Something comparable to his sacrifice in 3×11. The DO issue has to be solved anyway at some point, and they can’t just show us TLK in Rumbelle’s first episode without using it again later. 😉

I’m curious—like what? What sort of grand gesture do you do in order to forgive murder? What do you give the woman to whom you have broken so many vows? To quote Beauty and the Beast “flowers? chocolates? promises you don’t intend to keep?” It’s not going to be rug swept. But it CANNOT be as simple as a fight and a few nights on the couch. THAT is a total insult to Belle’s character and her inner strength. If she forgives him in the same episode that she figures out what happened, then every single criticism hurled at Rumbelle about Belle being weak and stupid and their relationship being emotionally abusive is true. And this is my OTP! I ship them HARD. But what the writers made Rumple do turns my stomach. He has been my favorite character since I started this show. Rumbelle is the whole reason I found this forum in the first place and why I do what I do here. Because they brought me into this fandom.
I hated Zelena. I wanted her locked up and out of the way. I never wanted to see her ever again. Rumple has ever right to be mad and hurt and angry. But this is about fighting on the side of the better angels. It’s about learning from you past. Rumple’s SON DIED because magic comes with a price. If that wasn’t a wake up–if loosing the center of his entire universe wasn’t enough–then what is?
I agree with you, they need more than one episode to deal with this (and honestly, I think it’s going to take the whole first half of the season) and I don’t want Belle to forgive him too easily, really. I just want them to face this obstacle together. There’s gotta be a reason they had Rumbelle married right now.
Rumple’s grand gesture? We have to watch and see! All I know that Rumbelle = Beauty and the Beast. Very famous and popular couple, a canon. They belong together like Snow and Charming. So I’m sure there will be a satisfying payoff.
I’m just trying to be optimistic because being pessimistic isn’t me..
Oh, and I’d also like to add that we don’t know what EXACTLY is going on in Rumple’s head. While killing Zelena was in character, him lying to Belle like this and kinda using her as an alibi is not. I’m a bit confused about this, I feel like something is off with him. Perhaps part of his father was resurrected within him, or something dramatic (other than being resurrected, imprisoned and his son being merged in him) happened to him during that missing year.. anyway, I’d like to know more before I jump to conclusions.

Rumple killed a woman who abused him for a year (or at least several months), ordered him to kill Belle, and was at least partly responsible for the death of his son. Just for example. I know it’s not a good excuse, but I just can’t hold this COMPLETELY against him (him lying to Belle is what bugs me more). And I don’t care if Zelena was defenseless. If that makes me a bad person, then so be it.. but Imo it would have been ooc of him not to go after her, and I honestly think that Belle is thinking Rumple is far more noble than he can be at this point. Even Rumple himself still thinks he is a monster.
I agree that it’s going to require a big gesture from Rumple for him to be FULLY forgiven by Belle, and as I said earlier, I believe this will have a good payoff. I don’t think this will be just swept under the rug.
This may be far-fetched, but… maybe Elsa could be Belle’s sister? I mean, maybe Belle could be Anna? I haven’t seen Frozen, but I read Anna’s Disney bio and I think she sounds an awful lot like Belle:

Belle has every right to be angry, and she should be. But again, I agree with PoM. I don’t want Rumbelle to be separated again, except for Rumple sleeping in a different room for a few nights. Instead of breakup, I wish they would sit down and talk. They are married now. I want to see them work things out TOGETHER.
And Marty, Neal was a grown man. Belle wasn’t responsible for him or his decisions.
I don’t think it’s necessarily the only way. I think the tlk might work too. As Rumple said: “True love is the most powerful magic in the world, the only magic powerful enough to break ANY curse”. And the tlk almost broke his curse in Skin Deep.
I’ve read many theories as to why it hasn’t broken his curse in SB, but my headcanon is that Rumple found a way to prevent the consequences of the kiss, like he found a cure for dreamshade poisoning after he almost died of it. So the tlk won’t work until Rumple allows it.
Of course it’s possible that his resurrection changed the rules and being stabbed with the dagger is the only way now. If that’s going to happen, I think the tlk from Belle will revive him. If Charming can be brought back after his heart was ripped out and crushed into dust, then Rumple can be saved too! 😉
Besides, Rumple dealing with being mortal again is way too delicious storyline to pass up. Just my opinion of course..
I agree with PoM. I don’t think they had Rumbelle married just so they could apply for a divorce right after. But this will no doubt cause a lot of drama. And Rumple does deserve to spend some time in the doghouse.
Obviously he is feeling like s**t for lying to Belle, so I think he will prove himself in a big way in the end. Again. I guess Rumple’s next personal issue to deal with is the DO’s curse (the dagger), so maybe he will even give up his powers/the curse for her..
I’m lookng forward to an interesting/heartbreaking/angsty/beautiful (yes, I believe this will end beautifully) Rumbelle storyline.
^^^ That’s how I would have hoped it would be seen by Rumbelle fans, as a tribute to them rather than something that’s being taken. I mentioned this in the chat but Rumbelle is the ship that goes through so much, I know other ships do too but they really get it the worst. They still come out if though and that gives me home for my other ships when they go through stuff. For me Rumbelle is the ship that shows the strength of love and shows that true love endures all things

I loved the wedding ceremony, I think it was very beautiful and perfect for Rumbelle. Private and intimate, and the atmosphere was very romantic, with the moonlight and candles. I love that they were married at the well, the place where they declared their love for each other for the first time. And I liked Belle’s outfit, she looked so beautiful and cute, like a doll.
The vows were the most beautiful thing ever! Those words were Rumbelle in a nutshell and I actually liked that they cut away to other couples, because it made my OTP feel even more special and unique.
I’m not happy with Rumple’s lies (I hope Belle will put him in the doghouse for a while once she finds out) but it doesn’t change the fact that these two truly, genuinely love each other and they were married for love. I know they will survive this.
I hope this marriage means that there won’t be any more separations for Rumbelle, and they will face the future obstacles as a couple. Mr. & Mrs. Gold. <3
