I’m reading in various places that the time slot they were given is not a good one, that it’s the “death” slot. But I would have thought the lead in to Grey’s would be a great place given the cult following of both shows?
It’s considered a tough slot mainly because Big Bang Theory which airs at 8 on Thursdays is the biggest show on TV, with Two and a Half Men in the half hour after it also performing very very well. However going against BBT likely isn’t as scary as for a comedy. For NBC’s comedies which have been on Thursday night (Community, Parks and Rec, The Office, 30 Rock) whichever got the short stick of facing against Big Bang, was in the “death slot”. American Idol when it airs on Thursdays is also competition, however AI isn’t what it used to be ratings wise and it usually starts in about January, so if OW airs in the fall instead of during the “winter hiatus” it will avoid Idol and the competition on the other channels outside of Big Bang/2.5 Men should be very weak. OW airing before Grey’s does not help it much, shows get the boost when they air after a well performing show on a night, not before it.
Anyways the Once Wonderland trailer that just came out is AMAZING/MIND=BLOWN. However it gave me worries about whether it’ll catch on ratings wise. This looks like a movie/mini-series more than a network TV show.

While her death in present day is genius in so many ways, with so much from the past coming forward – Rumplestiltskin, Regina, Snow, the candle, etc. A stunning episode in a lot of ways.
Best episode runner-up: Welcome to Storybrooke – Regina’s centrics dominated the season and this one was my favorite. Such a great expose of both her desires, flaws and mistakes at once.
Worst episode: Child of the Moon – Talk about a pure filler episode and added little to Ruby that her first centric didn’t.
Worst episode runner-up: Selfless, Brave & True – Tough for August to go out in an episode that’s all over the place and feels like it’s from a worse show.
shack1212ParticipantHow confirmed is the 1800s thing? I’ve been using 1902-1904 as my London timeline, since that’s when the original Peter Pan is set
I don’t see the writers complicating it with time travel personally. I think it’s just time moving faster in Neverland. If time is at a 2:1 ratio from Neverland to Earth, implying Wendy spent a full day in Neverland when it was one night to Bae, I think the timeline works.
Presume Bae has aged about 35 years either FTL before he went to NL, or after he came to Earth. If he’s 250-300 years old, that leaves 215-265 years to be accounted for. If the London scenes are somewhere between 1858 and 1904, that’s a 133-87 year gap to Neal’s estimated arrival date of 1991 going by RumpleGirl’s information. So 2:1 from Neverland or in the ballpark of that, fits the timeline very well. For example say it was:
– Bae is 14 when he arrives in London, the amount of time spent there short enough to be irrelevant
– He arrives in 1880
– After going to Neverland, he spents 110 years Earth/EF time, which is 220 years Neverland time at a 2:1 ratio
– Bae arrives in 1991 at 234 years old (220+14). He’s since aged 20 more years making him 254-ish
shack1212ParticipantNice post. Pan getting Dark One’d definitely fits.
I still like the idea of Maleficent being involved, especially now that we know her and Hook know each other.
shack1212ParticipantCan’t it just be explained by never aging in Neverland? Bae could spend 150 years in Neverland and remain 14. Then when he somehow gets out, he goes to Earth and ages from 14 to whatever age Neal is now.
In regards to the timeline. Let’s say Baelfire and Emma meet around the year 2000 and Baelfire comes to Earth at around 1990 as a 14 year old, then aging 10 years before meeting Emma. If the London scenes are around 1902-1904 which is where Peter Pan is set, that gives a good 85-90 years to make up for. Wendy’s conversation implies time moves differently in Neverland. Using the number 150 years for Baelfire and 85-90 between when he gets back to Earth, it’d indicate 60% a day on Earth is a full day on Neverland. This makes sense because she left Earth for the night, but her conversation with Baelfire felt like she’d been there roughly a full day and night, although she didn’t confirm that.
shack1212ParticipantFurthermore from a television perspective, it’s extremely likely Peter is played by a living breathing actor and not a CGI shadow
shack1212ParticipantIt’s definitely definitely in play that “the boy” isn’t Henry, in fact I practically expect that twist. Baelfire and Peter are great candidates, but I’ll throw another random darkhorse out: David, who’s backstory heavily crossed paths with Rumplestiltskin. My main reason for including him as a candidate, is the likelihood something big happens for David in the plot. The guy was the wallpaper of the cast all of Season 2, there to hold a gun and comfort Snow White. Knowing these writers, they won’t plan on one of the BIG characters taking such a backseat. Whether he’s the boy in the prophecy or not, they’ll make him feel important again, somehow – and likely wouldn’t have relegated him so much this season if they weren’t making up for it later.
shack1212ParticipantNice eyes EastOfTheSun, that is 100% the same rock, you can make out the little hole on top, the depression on the right side and the overall shape in the Neverland screenshot. However there’s a high chance it’s unintentional and the same set-piece found itself into both scenes. But who knows! I mean it’s clear that’s a fake rock, so did they REALLY have to include it in both scenes if they didn’t intend to? These are Lost writers after all, they’re well used to little inclusions and easter eggs.
Also Neal landing in Neverland would explain one question mark, how Neal just happened to land exactly where Aurora, Mulan and Philip are other than chance or fate. Considering Tamara threw the bean and the thrower decides the destination, her making a portal that lands at Neverland fits writing wise.
shack1212ParticipantWell I assume whoever runs the HO is on Peter, Tamara and Owen’s side. So if Wendy is running it, or the one giving whoever’s running it orders, it would imply she’s broken bad so to speak. Some of us in another thread speculated a possibility that the Wendy who came back to Earth, was on a mission to manipulate Bae into going to Neverland. That would fit.
Wendy being around in the present day seems inevitable
The part that confuses me most right now, does Peter hate magic? Why would he want Storybrooke to go? Or is he a magic purist that doesn’t want inferior beings using it? Does anyone remember from the last few episodes if Tamara and Owen said magic was evil, or if they said it just doesn’t belong on earth?
shack1212ParticipantI’m not very worried about a 4th season thelonebamf. Even if the ratings fell to bubble range, which is still a big drop-off from where Once is now, ABC will have an incentive to renew it because of syndication/re-run rights usually requiring 80-90 episodes and they’ll be a season away from that. Once is also perfect for syndication because it’s family friendly. Once easily fits more channels and early air times, than shows like Revenge or Scandal. In addition, considering Once is flat out one of the best TV shows ever made its chances of finding diehard fans in syndication have to be high, ABC will see the long term re-run potential in its quality
Furthermore with the way network television is dropping like a rock and the failure rate of new shows, it’s becoming standard for established shows who fall to weak ratings, to stay around and start airing at midseason. This is because once all the new shows that are DOA get canceled, they need reliable replacements for the second half of the year. For this reason along with the syndication one, I’d be shocked if Once got canceled cold turkey after 3 seasons after its ratings fell. The more likely situation is ABC moving it away from the Sunday night sports/awards/Cable TV death night and giving it a Lost like 16 episode uninterrupted run on another night, for 1 or a few more seasons
