I think the answer is much simpler than that – he remembers the past year. His memories are in tact and he doesn’t want to tell anyone that for some reason. There was another spoiler awhile back that Hook was actually set up for a trap. Perhaps someone’s life depends on him keeping his mouth shut?
Whatever he remembers, it must be important if he feels the need to keep the information to himself.
There are so many voices inside his had?I guess those are from all other Dark ones that existed.
I was thinking the voices were the prophesies he sees/hears? I was never quite clear on how that works… I know it’s like pieces to a puzzle…but maybe he’s getting too many pieces all at once?

OMG – yes! Especially after last episode where Hook went off on a long speech about how her heart still works. It was foreshadowing… “Dorothy/Neal” finding his way home means that the “Tin Man/Emma” will also find her heart. Love it!
OMG guys, it’s 5:30AM, insomnia strikes and I just had an epiphany. We’ve been looking at this alllll backwards, or at least, I have not seen anyone say this. Regarding the characters, who the WoO parallels & the finale – it’s so obvious!! It’s not Emma who is Dorothy – it’s Neal!! Why do I say this? What has Neal’s 3B been about so far? Finding his way home to Emma and Henry. In the MGM film, who does Dorothy find her way back to? Aunt Em & Uncle Henry… because THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!! I really just want to face palm, here, bevause that is so freaking exceedingly obvious I feel like no one has seen the forest for the trees. Guess it’s the spoiler of doom clouding everyone’s judgement. The only question that leaves for me then is, if Neal is not the heart, as so many have speculated, then who is?
I LOVE this theory – totally makes sense. I have been saying that Auntie Em and Uncle Henry cannot just be a coincidence. Adam & Eddy I believe answered a twitter question awhile back that Oz was in the cards from the very beginning…so I think they strategically chose the characters names based on where they’d like to go in the future.
If Charming is for sure the “courage,” then it’s possible Belle is one of the traits too – I’ve heard the theory that she’s the “brains,” but with Rumple being controlled by the dagger, it’s more likely he’s the “brains.” Perhaps Belle is the “heart.” If we have our Dorothy…who’s Toto? (I just couldn’t resist…)
Honestly, I know there’s this death spoiler looming over all our heads…and everyone is pretty much set on it being Neal. But from a storyline perspective it NEVER made sense to me that it would be Neal. Neal always seemed like he was set-up to be Emma’s happy ending. Perhaps things will be clearer after this Sunday.
Hmm – Ok, if a heart was not needed… another reason Neal is in danger is if Emma is still considered “The Savior” and the only one who can break the curse. She broke it last time with true love’s kiss — when she planted one on her son’s forehead. So … perhaps the WWW would want to keep Neal away from Emma. There’s also been spoilers that Hook was led into a trap. She could trap Hook to cover all her bases. Come to think of it — how come Emma didn’t try kissing her kid’s forehead again to see if the curse would break? Seems a logical way to try and get everyone’s memories back since it worked the first time…and it takes 3 seconds.
Perhaps this curse can only be broken by findinging “home sweet home”? Still would be a motivating factor for the WWW to do-away with Neal.
Anyway – bottom line – Love Neal, but I’m worried for him. I really hope I’m wrong. It just seems like such a waste of a good storyline if they kill him.
Neal is my favorite character- so it’s been my hope that this “spoiler” has been using the term “regular character” loosely and the death is Ruby or something like that.
but if not… Then I’m nervous it’s Neal. The curse that brought them back to Storybrook requires a heart… And Zelena has Rumple’s dagger. What if she used the dagger to make Rumple cast the curse. Who’s heart would Rumple need to cast the curse? Neal or Belle. We’ve seen Belle… We haven’t seen Neal. 🙁
I’m sure someone else has pointed this out, but Emma and Henry? Auntie Em and Uncle Henry? Weird coincidence, no? I wonder if Snow White & Prince Charming’s second child will be named Dorothy…and just like they needed to sacrifice Emma for the greater good… this baby will have to be sacrificed too. Maybe growing up in Kansas with her Auntie (sister) Em and Uncle (Nephew) Henry… all of this so one day Dorothy can defeat the Wicked Witch and save them all. Somehow this is also supposed to tie into Aurora and Phillip’s baby too… so who knows. I just think Emma and Henry’s names are a really weird coincidence to just be a coincidence.
I am pretty sure it’s Ruby. For those of you who watched Lost (I didn’t watch all 6 seasons), didn’t they do something similar with the Michael character? He was a “Core” character for a season or 2…went away, and then was brought back and killed? They still labeled that the death of a “core” character.
Sounds identical to the Ruby situation…
Perhaps that’s my wishful thinking though. I like the character and all, but the actress has clearly moved on…
I’m sticking to my theory that the term “regular cast member” is being used loosely and the list of the 8 core characters is pure conjecture on the part of the media.
However, if I were to entertain the idea that it is one of the 8 characters, it’s going to be Belle or Neal. They keep talking about Wicked versus Evil… so maybe part of WWW’s plan is to put Rumple in a position where he has to choose Belle’s life OR Neal’s life, but he can’t save both. Who would Rumple choose? His son or his true love? My guess is he saves his son, and Belle dies.
