ParticipantOn the other hand, the way The Doctor and The Master saved each other’s lives at the end of The End of Time could explain Missy’s bizarre obsession with being the Doctor’s friend…

ParticipantI’ve done whole and partial rewatches with several friends and it’s a ton of fun. You see things from a completely different perspective knowing things now that you didn’t then, plus I enjoy seeing people’s reactions to twists I’d forgotten were so good – especially in S1 – S3A.
I feel like we should should revisit some of the old episode threads from S1 – S3 with the knowledge we have now of what certain twists were, what certain things mean… Might be fun to see what we used to think and guess and see how close people came and how our feeling about certain episodes have changed since then.

ParticipantOoh I might have to look up some transcripts from her first season. That would make things interesting!

ParticipantYep, I would say the conversation about sexual orientation was the high point of this episode for me. Well, that and the whole Doctor/Missy interaction at the end. They’re building up such a positive relationship between them, and I feel like I’m going to be SO sad when Missy/The Master goes back to being bad eventually. This reform CAN’T possibly last… can it?

ParticipantIt is like the writers are so afraid of changing their characters and maybe upsetting the audience that they don’t do anything.
I wouldn’t say they are afraid of CHANGING their characters, since almost all of the mains have done bizarrely OOC things; I think they just decided PLOT! was more important than character development. Which is a huge shame.

Participant–Along with that, why do we end with Missy asking the Doctor if he’s okay? That’s an odd ending, yeah?
This was pretty much my big question after watching the whole episode. That, and why did Nardole OF ALL PEOPLE go to Missy for help? And why does he think The Doctor is incapable of remotely calling the TARDIS as we have seen him do in previous episodes? Or is that an ability that comes and goes? lol
I also enjoyed Alpha Centauri. It was a nice little callback. My general feeling about the overall feel of this season is that they are hearkening back to classic Who when they had multi-episode stories and took their sweet time building up to things. I feel like they are really taking their time building up to things and then run out of time to resolve them. The Monks trilogy is an excellent example of this.
Also: Ben Kingsley’s son!
Overall, I didn’t hate it, and I am SO RELIEVED we got this instead of a sequel to Sleep No More.

ParticipantOops I only did 10 I think… Should I leave it or go pick 20 more?

ParticipantI keep going back to the whole “time moves differently” concept. Is it possible that Fiona created Dark Magic retroactively as it were from within the Dark Realm?

ParticipantI like this kooky theory.
