https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11664406/1/What-the-Hell-5B-Speculation-Parody This fic is great, definitely worth a read. It’s a parody so don’t take it too seriously.
It took me a while to get around to this, but I finally read it. This part cracks me up:
“Emma, you know how this works,” David said sternly. “It’s a one-for-one trade. Someone else will have to die.”
“So we’ll use Robin,” Emma said impatiently. “He’s not doing anything.”
Robin looked around in alarm. “What?”
“We’re not using Robin,” Regina said, putting a protective hand on his shoulder.”Thanks for the recommend. 🙂
[adrotate group="5"]sherazadeParticipantMy hope is that they’ll use this whole underworld thing in order to give the characters a chance to resolve some issues (not add more issues/characters).
– I want to see old characters (possibly dead ones in the underworld)/plot points revisited, and given proper closure.
– Emma makes the whole journey, in order to learn she finally needs to let go of Hook. It’s what he wanted her to do in the first place.
– Rumple to find out that this whole brush with heroism did affect him (no more throwaway character development please!) and makes some decent choices for a change.
– Regina and Emma’s friendship getting a lot of screentime (seriously, these two actresses have great chemistry).
– Robin to either get written out, or gain some character depth beyond “Regina’s boyfriend”.
– Some consistency in Belle’s characterisation. Really? The moment Rumple is actually a decent human being, she doesn’t want to be with him and the moment he’s back to his old ways, she does? I thought she was supposed to be a good judge of character.
– Seriously, I meant it: Dont add anymore throwaway characters! Only introduce new characters when they’re important to the plot (like Merlin in 5a)
– While you’re at it: no more flashbacks! Though switching between Storybrooke/the underworld would be ok. The characters who did not go to the underworld deserve some screentime and more importantly: character developement, too. (And that Arthur thing needs to get resolved. Here’s to hoping Guinevere will be the one to defeat Arthur.)
sherazadeParticipantNot sure I can call it the “best of the best” but I really enjoy the stories by Robin4 on Archive of our own. They’re pretty Rumple-centric, but leave room for the other characters. And seeing your nick is darkones1fan, you probably don’t mind too much. 😉
Currently she’s writing “Ruins of Camelot” an alternate (and imo better!) season 5.
http://archiveofourown.org/works/4163451/chapters/9396009sherazadeParticipantIt just feels weird that the writers wouldn’t at least have Belle try. Instead they turned to this hat and had it suck Rumple’s darkness out (which begs the question why didn’t Rumple try to suck the darkness out of himself in S4A…?)
I was wondering about that too (why he didn’t use the hat to suck the darkness out of himself). My theory is that the Dark force wouldn’t let him. Instead it encouraged his desire for power, so that he did not want to part from it. He wanted to be free of the dagger yes, but also keep the power that came with the darkness. So he tried to find a way in which he could have it all.
By the way, I do totally agree that a Belle/Rumple tlk would’ve been a much better way of handling his seperation from the Dark one. This seemed… random.

Ya, that never happened. It was Neal who taught Henry how to sail that ship, back in S2x16, The Miller’s Daughter.
Didn’t Hook also teach Henry some sailing tricks during those times Hook babysat Henry back in season 4? (Or am I completely making stuff up now?).
Edit: found it, it was actually episode 3×16, where Hook was teaching Henry about knots and navigating with a sextant.
“Hook: I taught him to navigate with one. Just like I’m gonna teach you.”And what’s with the Dark force not returning to its original master, Rumple? Instead, it seeks out anyone BUT Rumple? Come on now!
I think Rumple was “used up” as the darkness had almost killed him. The Dark force would have had to find a new host in moments anyway. It seems that the “only” thing the apprentice did was save Rumple’s life.

– Isaac was an unexpected pleasure to watch. The actor playing him did a great job!
– The nods to Lost.
– Henry as the new author. It was predicted by a lot of people, but only because it made so much sense.
– Evil Snow and Charming. Ginnifer clearly had a blast!
– Regina saying “I don’t need a man to be happy.” It went a bit against what the show has been telling us (according to the writers she clearly does need a man to be happy), but I was happy to hear her say this. There’s more to happy endings than getting into a relationship! Also I’m still not convinced of Regina/Robin’s chemistry.
– The Dark One story finally being adressed.
– The sorcerer is Merlin. Feels right somehow.
– Emma sacrificing herself for Regina.Disliked (still in no particular order):
– The whole author thing (what can, and what can’t be done by an author? what part of what they write is real and what isn’t?) has become very muddled. I’m not even going to try and understand it anymore.
– Emma being happy about shooting Lily in the face with a canon (that’s your friend!)
– Henry’s acting. Sorry, I know I’m being harsh, but it does not convince me.
– Removing the Dark One from Rumple. Well, that was easy… I don’t mind that it happened and I want to see where this will take our characters, but the way in which it was done seemed very anti-climactic.
– So I thought the villains were getting their happy ending? Instead the villains became the heroes. It was still enjoyable, but it was not what we’ve been told. (Not what Isaac told the fans of his book either).
– More a problem with the season than this episode, but I agree with everyone asking what the point of having Will around was.sherazadeParticipantWhat if the darkness actually originated from Merlin? Merlin could have extracted the darkness from within himself, and then attempted to destroy it. But he could not do so. Instead he restored to tethering the darkness to another human soul.
I really like this theory! It would help explain why they introduced some of the weirder things they did this season (like Emma’s darkness being removed). Perhaps the only way to defeat the Dark One then, is if he merges back with Merlin and becomes a whole person again.
Although the Dark One seems like a LOT of darkness for one person. Perhaps it’s not just Merlins darkness anymore. Perhaps the Dark One absorbs the darkness of everyone he has “inhabited”, and has therefore grown stronger and stronger (it would explain Rumple’s white heart after the Dark One was removed).
sherazadeParticipantMy hope for Rumple’s arc in season 5 (great amount of wishful thinking coming up) is that after half a season or more of learning to deal with being human and recovering some humility, Rumple will be the one who eventually has to defeat the Dark One. This is the only way he could ever truly redeem himself.
In my ideal world, the first half of the season will be a search for Merlin, who (after something goes wrong, because something always has to go wrong) will be defeated by Evil-Emma. Merlin will die, but his light magic will go to white-hearted Rumple (the new “Merlin”).
Emma will be saved in the second half of the season by her family/friends and MerlinRumple will destroy the Dark One once and for all in an epic series-finale episode. Rumple will finally get his happy ending, if he survives the final battle.
And maybe I should just not watch season 5 and imagine this is what really happens. 😉
sherazadeParticipantI would like for it to be Merlin. A king Arthur storyline would be neat.
Though a small part of me would enjoy it if “the author” was just this random guy, living in a crummy appartment and having no idea that all his stories had come to life. 😉
December 16, 2014 at 10:27 am in reply to: FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS from this episode 4X 11 HEROES AND VILLAINS #293449sherazadeParticipantNobody comforting Belle- The poor woman has just kicked her beloved out of Storybrooke to protect the town and yet it seems like she’s expected just to suck it up and deal with it. Meanwhile everyone is on the “poor Regina” wagon just because she didn’t hook up with a guy.
Yeah, I noticed this too and it’s a bit annoying. My headcanon now includes Belle eating bucketloads of (melting) icecream by herself in the library.
