At the same time, we’ve heard that true love is the greatest magic of all, which is the bottled potion Rumpel used to bring magic to SB in the fist place. I wonder if this is a good form of magic since it was created from love.
We heard Regina say that magic in this world is unpredictable. And it seems to me that magic in all forms is a double-edged sword, if you will – it seems to cut one way, but there is always repercussions — magic comes with a price. However, magic created from the purity of true love might not have a repercussion, we will see.

Also, it was speculated that Rumpel will call upon Emma for a favor possibly to kill him and Emma will become the dark one. However, I have some doubts about this theory since Rumpel probably won’t want to die now that he and Belle are reunited. He’ll want to have a future with her. Perhaps all they have to do is kiss for him to become a regular man again.
I was wondering if they will be able to leave SB? If not, Gold’s favor might be to have Emma leave and find Bae.

I wonder if Regina will get her power back as well and how the final battle will play out. It’ll be interesting to see if she is as powerful as she was before or whether there will be limits to her power. We saw her smirk when she saw the cloud enveloping SB. At the same time, the source of magic is from true love, and we don’t know how this mixes with dark magic.
Good point!

The season could have used another episode to help explain things. A lot of the things seen in the finale seemed rushed.
How/Why did Jefferson know about Belle in the psych ward?
Other than seeing his name on a door in the psych room, couldn’t we have seen a little more of Sydney Glass to have a little update?
How is it Belle is so accepting of everything that’s going on?
Did all that character building for Regina go out the window the moment she saw magic coming?
Is August dead or what? Is it really necessary to wait til the next season to answer that?
Maleficent stuck in dragon form sll this time? Really? Could there have been no clues to make the viewer feel they were even in the same ballpark with this one?
And Granny and Red? Dr. Whale and Mother Superior? I really wish more had been done.
If, for some ungodly reason, the network decides not to go through with a second season, I will be quite disappointed with what we were left with. Just saying, another episode could have been used to smooth things out a bit.Love all the questions, Jefferson has left me the most questions. How did he know about Belle? How did he know the passcode? That nurse didn’t seem surprised to see him at all or the janitor. He’s a little scary to me, a wild card if you will, and he has definitely set up Regina and Gold for a battle. What did Rumpel say to SW and PC in his cell in the Pilot… “the curse will be broken and the final battle will begin“…?
If Emma is mad at him for taking the potion, it won’t be because Henry isn’t awake. He knew the outcome of that before she went downstairs. And on her way out he told her he would be okay. He just needed her for the potion. Now Emma will realize what an “imp” Mr. Gold is and like everyone else will have to watch her guard. I am wondering though, now, if Rumpel touching SW’s belly when she visited the cell in the mines might have passed some type of magic on to Emma the way he did the true love ring for PC to find Snow in this episode? Maybe he also made her the key to finding Bae. Maybe that is his favor or Emma — leave SB and find Bae.
I agree about Malificent. There was no clue to that one. The dragon stuff turned a bit cheesy somewhere in those scenes for me, but I still loved it. What can I say, I like the show. I just kept telling myself it is like a fairytale, a bit cheesy at times but still fun.

It was a season finale, not a series finale. They set up the second season with all those loose ends you mentioned.
So what now? Rumpel is a force to be reckoned with. I believe the way he betrayed Emma was just a glimpse of things to come. Regina might not be the villain of the second season at all.
Totally agree. I didn’t want all the answers last night. I felt very satisfied with the end knowing there is a second season. I am looking forward to rewatching all 22 episodes with some foreknowledge. Although I still believe Regina is the ultimate villian. Rumpel still has some redemptive possibilities surrounding him, but the writers have alluded that once he found out about Belle there would be some payback . It will be interesting to see if his emotions compromise him. Isn’t that what he told Emma?

The whole time I was watching the finale, I thought: They’re really trying to make this the direct opposite of Lost. While with Lost, they kept adding new questions to a point where it wasn’t possible to give satisfying answers to everything, the people behind OUAT actually closed a whole chapter and opened a new one.
Just like a Storybook 😀

I thought the finale was a great episode. We have no idea what that purple cloud is going to cause! There is going to be a whole new set up for the next season.
I keep wondering if when the smoke clears there will be a castle in the middle of Storybrook with a clock on its tower stuck on 8:15…. I love the possibilities… Mr. Gold did say to Belle there would be time for that, time for everything…

ParticipantThere are so many ways this can go now…
Belle could be influenced to be bad, Belle could leave again, Bae can still be found, and there is a whole story there… is Bae good or evil, has he been trying to find a way back to his father? Mr. Gold/ Rumpel may still at some point accept true love’s kiss. The writer’s have said in their finale interviews that when Gold finds out what Regina did to Belle… watch out! The theme for this season was hope, and with Rumpel there is hope of redemption because as the BF said to Bae, it is Rumpel’s love for Bae that has kept some part of him human. Now we have Rumpel’s love for Bae and for Belle. What if Henry turns out to be his grandson? Then we add another person he will love and may find that person loves him. Rumpel’s redemption may be more long and drawn out than true love’s kiss, but in real life most resolution to conflict is not fixed with a kiss or even an apology, it is a process, and I guess to me I love his story because in the midst of the fairy tales it reflects the most reality to me. I also think there is a possibility of redemption for him because he still has something human in him like the BF said. Regina on the other hand, I don’t see a path of redemption because she has left a hole in her heart that they have said nothing can fill. Even in the few moments she has looked redeemable there is something that has happened that won’t let her let go of the revenge and winning (the greatest moment of hope for her was when her father talked to her in Ep 2, before she killed him). Young Henry, despite the fact that she “loves” him can easily end up being a pawn now in whatever game is played out next season. And I will have to remind myself it wasn’t her kiss that woke Henry up.Snickerdoodle

Not really. I’m actually kind of happy. This is episode was amazing! It gave me everything that I wanted. Emma finally believes, Belle and Rumpel reunited, Jefferson was in it, Regina was defeated but not entirely, and MAGIC IS COMING!!!
I’m with you, and I even cheered for Charming when he attempted his escape from Regina. After all those weeks of David being such a loser, I was happy for his role as PC in FTL. I still don’t understand why Gold didn’t kiss Belle before dropping that vial in the well. He should have at least gotten one kiss in before bringing back the magic. But maybe it would have kept him from getting what he wanted first — power. I wonder if he will ever realize that true love would be the most powerful magic of all for himself. Maybe giving into his love for Belle would make him more powerful and set things right concerning his being the Dark One. Maybe he would no longer be the Dark One, but the Enlightened One 😛

I do not think Rumpel knew that Henry would be okay. I don’t think he cared at all about Henry only about regaining his magic and leaving town.
Ah, for once I disagree, hjbau, my forum friend. We so seldom disagree. But on this one, I think Mr. Gold’s confidence in knowing the outcomes has increased with the life of the show this season, and I do think he knew Henry would be okay, I don’t think he just said that to lie. I mean why say anything at all, once he had the potion? He knew before Emma walked into his shop what she and Regina were there for. He had the sword ready. I am interested to re-watch them all during the hiatus, knowing what we know now. I think it provide some alternate perspectives. 🙂

ParticipantUPDATED FOR NOW. REALLY LIKE THE NEW CALLS KingArthur and EastoftheSun 😉
EastoftheSun CONGRATS! I did confirm your call in the SEASON 1 THREAD. Please see my note below that I am only reposting what remained unanswered to begin our SEASON 2 THREAD. If I post everything from SEASON 1 it becomes too hard for me to keep up with everybody’s calls.
